So I guess I've been identified as a sucker as well.

This showed up in my e-mail box the other day:

Do you remember the moment Bernie kicked off the political revolution?

Bernie Sanders has spent his life fighting against injustice and inequality. But it was his eight-hour long filibuster in 2010 that turned him into a national leader. As Charles Chamberlain explains in the email below, Bernie took to the Senate floor to challenge a deal President Obama had cut with Republicans that included an extension of George W. Bush's tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.

His speech wasn't just about that bad deal. He used his time to speak about corporate greed, the recently announced Citizens United decision, and the decline of the middle class. His speech laid out his early vision that became the people-powered campaign that rocked the foundations of the Democratic Party. Bernie's vision should still motivate us today -- and that's why DFA is offering a chance to read this amazing document while helping build a political revolution.

Do you want to read the speech that started the "political revolution"? Pitch in $37 or more now to support DFA and we will send you your very own copy of Bernie's "The Speech: On Corporate Greed and the Decline of the Middle Class" -- we will even cover the shipping charges for you!

Your donation will not only get you this historic book by Bernie -- it will also help DFA continue the work we began during the primary. We're building the political revolution across the country, and fighting for candidates who share Bernie's values. We're even training thousands of activists to help win in November and beyond.

Thank you for spreading the word about Bernie's speech -- and helping change America.

I am not going to bother sharing all of it with you but it goes on to accuse President Obama of "cutting a deal with the Republicans that was filled with goodies for the 1%," smears all "Washington politicians," and of course makes Sanders out to be some kind of modern folk hero.

It also continues to push the meme that Bernie and his supporters are going to change politics in this country and that it can all be done if they just keep donating to the "revolution" and of course buying his books.

Of course all of us here have seen this before, and we know how it ends.

And lines like this, "Every penny of your donation will go toward helping elect Bernie-style truth-tellers to every level of government, from City Council to the U.S. Senate, this November and beyond," should not fool anybody.

I know that the true believers will have difficulty accepting this, but this political grift has been going on for years now.

We have already seen the damage that it can do as evidenced by the Republican party.

We just don't need to see it happen on the Democratic side.

If we want to change how money influences politics we need to overturn Citizens United, which can eventually happen with the help of Clinton selected Supreme Court justices, and work to pass campaign finance reform, for which we need more Democrats.

We don't need a revolution, we just need to keep our eye on the ball and continue making the same kind of progress that President Obama has already helped to put into motion.

I'm thrilled Senator Bernie Sanders is campaigning with Hillary Clinton. Together with the email spreading the words, we will defeat Donald Trump.

The reason Bernie will not disclose his donor list is because people like Karl Rove are on that list.

    Political grift and Bernie Sanders.

C'mon Gryph, I know you're not that stupid.

I'd be willing to bet that you'd probably never even heard of Bernie Sanders prior to his announcement to run.

    Am I right ?

And if you had heard of him, I'd be willing to be that you really didn't know much about the guy.

You're full of shit, once again, drinking the Kool Aid that the D's have sold to you.

The only question that I have at this point is, how much are they paying you to spew this bullshit ?

    2. Actually I've known about Sanders for a number of years now. I always put him in the same category as Cornell West, a cantankerous firebrand without the temperament to lead.

And no, I am not paid by anyone.

My patriotism is not for sale, nor can it be co-opted by shady snake oil salesmen.

    4. If you don't believe this is a grift then follow the links Kerry 4:46 provided below. You can download on a Kindle for 9.99 or buy it in paperwork for as low as 1.26. Palin said donations to her PAC were for down ballot candidates as well and we all know how much she has donated. The majority of her expenses is for "postage".

Bern sent a hat from china and book.
Hilary sent 2 cool political buttons.
    Cruz sent a color book!
    Trump a yard sign.
    Gop a mug.
Americans believe in and have hope for America. The single issue of Overturn Citizen United was Bernies. It is the most important for Americans. Hilary must do it. Overturn Citizen United Ruling on day one. The focus should not be on Bernie but on that single issue and the candidate that will overturn it.

There is zero truth in your ridiculous claim that Sanders owns any issue relating to Citizens United. You're making out that everyone else in DC politics is a fucking idiot.

Where is the explanation for what happened to the leftover funds from the campaign? I don't trust a DAMN THING that is scummed by a##hole weaver. I am not interested in funding bernie's retirement fund and I sure-as-sh*t ain't interested in funding weaver's.

...Over the last several months, progressives have been lectured at length about the need to focus on defeating Trump in November; to criticize Hillary Clinton, it is often argued, is to distract from this objective. But despite Democrats' insistence that this is a tactical course, one required by political realities, it also serves a crucial ideological aim: It provides Clinton a blank check to continue, without meaningful dissent, courting odious billionaires and war criminals and espousing nationalistic rhetoric while taking progressives entirely for granted.

This short-sighted electoral strategy comes at the expense of the development of viable coalitions and grassroots organizing. Exemplifying this dynamic, Democrats have focused more on winning over the wealthier constituencies that are rapidly abandoning Trump than on consolidating support among younger, more liberal blocs that will likely form the ideological core of the party in the near future.

As Carl Beijer has noted, the Clinton campaign's strategy is quite helpful for a Republican Party looking to distance itself from Trumpism by portraying Trump as an anomaly to be denounced, rather than a predictable outgrowth of the conservative movement—and it also hobbles down-ballot Democrats looking to oust pro-Trump Republicans.

I'll believe it when she tries.

The Democrats benefit from it just like the Republicans. They just don't get as much money because those with the money always give more to Republicans than they do to Democrats. They basically cover their bases just in case a Democrat is elected, but they put the full force of their money behind the Republicans.

Let's not blame Hillary Clinton for Citizens United. She's opposed to the bizarre Supreme Court decision just as all sane citizens are. However, Trump has just "hired" as an unpaid helper the conspiracy activist who is head of Citizens United. He was also involved in the many fake Clinton conspiracies from decades ago. So now Trump has both Bannon of Breitbart fame and Bossie. Such quality politicos. One has to wonder why Trump is surrounding himself with anti-Clinton conspiracy creators instead of learning something about policy. It's not that Trump knows anything about the issues that really matter in our lives. For him, it's all about grabbing headlines, anyway possible. For the rest of us, it's just plain scary and getting creepier and more Hitler-esque by the day.

For that price, other people would at least get someone to write a book for them. Who cares about his filibuster? I don't even remember it.

That said, Sarah Palin lived off her moment in the sun for four years and Bernie Sanders should be allowed to do the same, given he did start his own movement and all Palin did was hijack the teabag party.

Democracy for America (DFA) is a progressive political action committee, headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont. Founded by former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean in 2004, DFA leads public awareness campaigns on a variety of public policy issues, trains activists, and provides funding directly to candidates for office.

The guy Obama tried to nominate was for that tax inversion crap. That nomination was blocked by Warren. (Yay). But Obama put the asshole in charge of Puerto Rico's debt because that position didn't need approval.

Anyone following how Wall Street is bleeding Puerto Rico dry?

And do I need to repeat how our public education system is being gutted first by Arne Duncan (Obama appointee) and then by the current guy, whose wife runs a non-profit with donors like Michelle Rhee, Bill Gates and others out to privatize education.

Obama isn't a saint. In some things he failed to live up to the halo everyone wants to put on him. Sorta like Hillary is being canonized now.

Oh, but it's so fun to pillory Bernie. You can make stuff up and just say "people are saying" or "I heard read it on the internet". Yeah, probably on Gryphen's blog. There's a reliable source.

Our Revolution is a 501(c)(4) non-profit social welfare organization. It is under the IRS not the FEC. IRS rules limit the amount of money that can be spent on political activities. It is not a PAC. It is not even like a PAC.
