Former President George H.W. Bush is bucking his party's presidential nominee and plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November, according to a member of another famous political family, the Kennedys.
Bush, 92, had intended to stay silent on the White House race between Clinton and Donald Trump, a sign in and of itself of his distaste for the GOP nominee. But his preference for the wife of his own successor, President Bill Clinton, nonetheless became known to a wider audience thanks to Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.
On Monday, Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page shaking hands next to the former president and this caption: "The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”
Asked about Townsend’s post, George H.W. Bush spokesman Jim McGrath in an email replied, "The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim."
Yep, no denial.
Personally I have no problem believing that Poppy Bush is going to vote for Hillary.
He has said that he thinks of Bill Clinton as another son, and his dislike of Donald Trump is well known.
Not to mention that he is a REAL Republican who respects and understands how the government works, it is inconceivable to think that he would cast a vote for Cheeto Jesus.
I actually think that it is very likely that the entire Bush clan, including George W., Jeb, Barbara, Laura, the two daughters, and a number of others in the family will ALL vote for Hillary.
And seriously, who could blame them?
He must see 1000 points of light in Hillary and total darkness in Don the Con.
ReplyDeleteI truly did enjoy Jeb! As an uber driver
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton and the senior Bush are very close friends, so this doesn't surprise me at all.
ReplyDeleteLove the fact so many outstanding Republicans are coming out against The Donald! Good example for Americans to follow - no matter which party you are affiliated.
I'm voting for Hillary Clinton and eager to do so! I vote Absentee too due to being disabled. I say thank you every day that America has the 'absentee' method. I use to love casting my in the voting booth when I was able to do so!
Not every state is so generous with their absentee ballots. I am also disabled, but NC says that there MUST be one day in the voting process that I can make it to the polls, and unless I can prove that I will be outside my district for the entirety of voting days, I can't vote absentee.
DeleteGood lord, I miss a lot of things about Oregon.
I'm 12:09 PM in response to 12:39 PM - I didn't realize that ALL states didn't operate the same way as to Absentee votes. (But, I should have known that would probably be the case as screwed up as our country is getting more and more each day.)
DeleteSorry to hear of your dilemma - which makes me feel even more fortunate I can vote Absentee - mailing my ballot in.
America should have the SAME voting methods across the nation. It's ridiculous what some of the states put their residents/voters through (especially the minorities!). Total bullshit - to put it quite bluntly!
Hey, libtards, guess what? SHE'S LOSING!!!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, she's losing so much she's going to get tired of losing!!
You disagree, losers? Guess what? The Federal Bureau of Election Regulations officially announced today that SO many Drumpf supporters will be voting in November for our new emperor that they had to create a SEPARATE voting day just for us!!!
USA!! USA! USA!! IN YOUR FACE!!! USA!!
That's right. Only homosexuals and Hilary lovers will be voting on Tuesday November 8 while Drumpf voters ONLY will awesomely vote on Wednesday November 9th. WOOOO HOOO!!!
Get this: most polling places on Wednesday will be providing free mobility scooter battery recharges, autographed Drumpf incontinence underwear, free ammunition in .44 cal magnum and commemorative .50 armor piercing loads (.22 long rifle shells for kids under 12), a wide assortment of Klan and Nazi memorabilia, and much much more, etc.
We're also looking for brave Drumpf concealed carry license holders to show up at polling places in FULL battle gear on Wednesday morning at 700 hours (that's 7:00 for you draft dodging libtard losers) for patriotic militia-style displays.
And don't forget, there will be a MASSIVE victory party aboard Drumpf's private jet Wednesday night after the Drumpf-only polls close. EVERYONE is invited to fly Air Drumpf - open bar, barely legal air hostesses, the whole shebang! Believe me, it will be the party of the century!
Believe me.
LOL! Where have you been Beldar? ... if not Beldar, you have his chops. Can I put in a special order for the Nazi memorabilia?
Delete@137
DeleteI think you have enough Nazi gear already...
yer pal,

People are saying that this will be the best election ever. I don't know. I've heard that.
DeleteDown 56.2% to 43.8%
DeleteClinton still has 281 electoral votes to Trump's 256.7.

Still a little too early to gloat.
Great Idea, Beldar, Brillant, as usual.
DeleteO/T - Only the severely misinformed (and in many cases racist) yahoos or the extremely wealthy who see a personal advantage would ever vote for Trump. The wealthy won't suffer. The yahoos will. Yet the yahoos will vote for the next fear mongering (fear the minorities) republican clown who pops up. You can't fix their stupid. Republicans, in general, are the knuckle draggers of our society. The Heaths, the Palins, and that chubby Meyer boy are perfect examples of dumb ass yahoos. They are prideful of their idiocy and absolutely clueless.
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea, why don't we just let the "yahoos" as you call them, suffer and finally learn their lesson about voting for despots.
DeleteI'm all for it.
5:31, here's an idea, GFY.
DeleteNot surprising that both Jenna and Barbara( shrubs kids) are voting for Hillary since they are both Democrats. Glad that the old Bush has some smarts.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I despise the Bush family, I don't think it was right for a third party to announce on social media who the elder Bush plans to vote for. If he wants to announce to the world that's fine but it was not her place to comment on it. The Kennedys can be really tacky and this is an excellent example.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Bush camp is very thrilled with this announcement but they are not denying it either.
DeleteOh boo effin' hoo. Get over it, see below, he announced it to a room full of people the day before.
DeleteHillary's poll numbers seem to coming back as well. Pappy Bush voting for Hillary gives me hope that it will turn a few Trump voters into Hillary voters. Especially in light of recent news articles detailing Mr. Trump using his foundation to pay penalties that he should have paid out of his own pocket.
ReplyDeleteStill, this election is going to give me a stroke. It is very hard for me (a news junkie for all my life) to even watch the news these days.
Turn the channel. I have a winter hiatus that is just started and I tune in to Comedy Central when I'm home during the day. One channel, one channel only, doesn't matter what's on it has to be better than those "news" channels.
DeleteI love that pic!
ReplyDeleteIt shows the warmth and charm in Hillary.
And look kids, she's wearing a skirt! I remember when she wore skirts all the time and got called out for her calves, ankles, hips. It's no wonder she wears pants now, and anyway, who cares? She's going to make a great President!
Love this post, thanks G!
x2, there is something very sweet and genuine in that picture. I love it as well. I hope Poppy agrees to be in ad endorsing Hillary and this picture is included.
DeleteGlad that president and gop er know dumb when they see it.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I understand that it might be considered by some a good development that the Bush clan are all voting for Hillary instead of the Republican nominee, I have concerns that such an endorsement also shows that Hillary is really not so liberal, because endorsements from the despicable Bush family may not be construed by many as badges of honor, but rather marks against her, particularly in the eyes of progressives.
ReplyDeleteShe needs the progressives to come out strong in order to win the election, and having any Bush as her supporter undermines this.
"CNN followed up Tuesday, reporting that the former president had told a roomful of about 40 people the day before that he would vote for Clinton. The news outlet cited “sources close to” George H.W. Bush."
ReplyDeleteHe told a room full of people. You think he swore them all to secrecy? If he didn't want it getting out he would have kept his mouth shut.

He joins Brent Scowcroft, former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage in voting for Clinton.
I expect Colin Powell will announce voting for Clinton before the elections.
Of all the Bush clan, party aside, I've always admired Papa Bush, he was great entertainment while in office, and he does crazy stuff in his later years, like jump out of planes, vote for the other party's candidate and not mentioning Shrub and Cheyney much, if at all. I'll always remember, with great fondness, the time he fainted and threw up on Japan's leader's shoes.
ReplyDelete🙂
DeleteGag...
ReplyDeleteI love that picture. They both look so good.
