Just a reminder as to who is really to blame for Donald Trump. That's right, John McCain.

Sure this will be fine. I mean it's not like she is going to forever damage the Republican party or anything.
Courtesy of the Daily Banter:

While there are many competing theories as to why the Republican Party has gone completely off the rails in recent times -- and probably all of them partially correct -- one figure in the GOP can be held primarily responsible for its descent into intellectual and moral depravity. And that figure would be Sen. John McCain. While this might seem a stretch to pin the emergence of Donald Trump on the actions of John McCain, when you look at the effect of his presidential candidacy in 2008, it becomes clear that his actions alone legitimized politicians like Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, and Donald Trump. Because if he hadn't foisted Sarah Palin upon the nation and gave the darkest elements of the American psyche validity on the national stage, there's a good chance we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now with the very future of the human species on the line.

While there has always been a sizable minority of fundamentalist, conspiracy theory prone lunatics in American society, for the most part mainstream society has managed to marginalize them. But as soon as McCain decided that the only way to revitalize his ticket after the disastrous Bush years was to bring on a barely literate airhead who was more interested in using campaign donations to expand her wardrobe than run for office, every moron with a gun and a 4x4 started believing his opinion actually mattered. And as the feckless media continued their "both sides are equal" mantra, they started to.

It must be remembered that Sarah Palin did not emerge by herself. She was plucked out of almost complete obscurity by McCain and his team, and touted as a "breath of fresh air" for the party and the country. At the age of 71, you could understand why McCain chose a younger woman to boost his favorability amongst women and young people, but he did no vetting whatsoever and is single handedly responsible for giving credence to a woman with no business running for office. The Palin phenomenon was a terrifying sight to anyone with a functioning brain and concern for the future of the country, and McCain's implicit endorsement of unadulterated idiocy as a legitimate political philosophy should be seen as an act of treason.

Perhaps I take a little too much pleasure in articles like this.

However since I was beating this drum with all my might as far back as 2008, it always feels good to have others join the percussion section alongside me.

Yes John McCain is most assuredly the man who blazed the way for a Donald Trump candidacy, and despite every other achievement he may want to claim for himself, history will never forgive him.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I told you so.

Trump is going to lose the election. But his followers will not go quietly into the night. I am very worried for the potential violence that may ensue on Nov 9 and afterward. But hopefully, this also may be a huge re-set for our Democracy and the direction for our Nation. At last the cockroaches have had the light shined upon them. Just hope the fumigation won't poison us all.

Don't worry too much. Donald's supporters are full of shit. Together they can riot and rant but by themselves, like Trump they are stupid and alone. They really don't even know what the hell they are angry about. That we had a black president? That we will now have a woman president? That they are being outsourced by the very man they have deemed their savior? I don't know what the hell they are ranting about other then the fact that they were born angry and they will die angry.

If you read some of the information about the McCains, many written by their local papers. You would know what crooks they are. The part about McCain getting Cindy out of her drug stealing life is horrendous. He is an abuser of power. He lies and cheats. Will do what it takes to destroy those standing up for truth and law. He will promote investigations he wants and he blocks investigations he doesn't want.

McCain knew of the Palins crimes all along. He skipped legititmate vetting. Immediately sent people to get rid of any evidence of crimes. He wants no justice.

It's incredible how narcissists like Palin's demise parallels Trump's fall. They cannot apologize and move on about anything. They cannot discuss any slight or opinion different from theirs. They are so thin-skinned that they hold a grudge forever! They blame others for their own inadequacies. There is so much more, but I'm exhausted by what I've already wrote!!

American Political History question: About Sarah Palin

#1 Posted by DonatelloRawks (1313 posts) - 6 hours, 47 minutes ago - Show Bio

Alright, I will admit that I have little desire to be deeply involved in discussing politics, but my reason for making this thread is for me to have a general understanding of some political backgrounds and what happened/why/etc so I wouldn't be too out of touch with this world.

So I read this article: http://thedailybanter.com/2016/10/john-mccain-is-responsible-for-donald-trump/

They mentioned this person Sarah Palin, who was picked as Vice Presidential nominee in 2008. What was wrong with her? Wikipedia don't seem to mention much about her "shortcomings".

I would like to hear explanations from both sides (Please identify yourself as Republican-leaning, Democrat-leaning, neutral, etc), thanks.

    HuffPo:Cathy Heller

Her account: Heller, now 63, told The Guardian that the first and only time she interacted with Trump, “he grabbed her, went for a kiss, and grew angry with her as she twisted away.” This was all while Heller was having Mother’s Day brunch at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, with her husband, in-laws and children. She alleges that Trump said, “Oh, come on,” when she protested and held her still while he kissed her on the side of the month, before walking away. A relative who was seated at the table that day confirmed to The Guardian that Trump was “very forceful” and got “in her face.”

    Trump’s response: Nothing yet.

When we found out: October 15, 2016

When she says it happened: Around 1997 (Heller says she is not 100 percent sure)

Sarah had help from the beginning burrowing into the Republican Party of Alaska. I think many here would agree that she is far too stupid to think up or even contribute in any significant way to the organization of a 527 slush fund for Ted Stevens.

      http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2008/09/palin-was-a-director-of-embatt.html

"By Web Politics Editor | September 1, 2008; 1:26 PM ET

ST. PAUL -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began building clout in her state's political circles in part by serving as a director of an independent political group organized by the now embattled Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.

Palin's name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.

Palin's relationship with Alaska's senior senator may be one of the more complicated aspects of her new position as Sen. John McCain's running mate; Stevens was indicted in July 2008 on seven counts of corruption.

Palin, an anti-corruption crusader in Alaska, had called on Stevens to be open about the issues behind the investigation."

They also do their all to block any relevant investigations and they do what they do with the press and media. You won't read anything in the news. Since Trig Palin has no legit documents, he could be adopted or not. Were all those bus trips, all the work he did with the campaign and with the Palins, was any of it legit?

At any time Cindy McCain could have become aware that Trig was a scam and a hoax. She may have learned he was a victim of human trafficking.

John McCain may have known about the human trafficking all along. It may have been part of his incentive to commit crimes and invade the Bristol's boyfriends house and family. You know when he had his staff pretend they were helping the family but things went missing.

The fundamentalist Christians were born and bred on anti woman issues, and every other moral issue there is known to mankind. They just can't leave well enough alone. One time the local neighborhood church my kids were attending because the church was asking them to, told the kids that pokemon was the devil. I pulled my kids back needless to say. But they like to make up all sortsa shit as they go along. Sarah was born and bred on her hypocrisy. The fact that the religious right now deem Trump their savior totally validate everything I feel about them. And if they ever came to power we will be sorry because they will try to make all of us bow down or die. I know that with a gut feeling. Hitler went there. He tried to make his aryan race a reality.

Are you freaking kidding me? Let's talk about the millions that she left Wasilla in debt and the mismanagement of of the dairy, her bridge to nowhere, the pipeline that she handed $500M to Canada that never happened.

But you're right....why rack up college debt, when you were too stupid to go in the first place (SHE never graduated) and can do just as well going to hair and skin school while she grifts off the equally stupid to subsidize that stupidity? Oh yeah, something to be said for that, fer shur!

Trump Opened Pandora’s Box And There Is No Going Back

...The real estate mogul and reality TV star rose to the top of the Republican heap by appealing to the basest instincts of a significant number of GOP voters — Americans who tend toward xenophobia and racial prejudice, who are most secure within a white patriarchy, who are vulnerable to the weirdest conspiracy theories if those theories confirm their world-view, who are inclined toward authoritarianism (as long as the authoritarian shares their identity politics).

He has primed those voters to believe that our democratic institutions no longer work; he has encouraged them to be suspicious of people of color; he has suggested that they respond with violence to any electoral setback. Americans tend to take one of the best features of our democracy for granted — that the losers accept their defeat, that they affirm the legitimacy of the process. Trump has no respect for that basic tradition.

But that’s just one way in which he has normalized behavior that, just a short year ago, was completely out of bounds for an American presidential candidate. The civic fabric has been stretched and grossly contorted by the behavior of a man who has no more use for our democratic values than Vladimir Putin, whom Trump admires.

During the last debate, Trump threatened to imprison his rival, Hillary Clinton, if he were elected. Allow me to repeat that because it is simply astounding: In a nation founded on the rule of law, he has threatened to jail a rival who has not been convicted of any crime (or even prosecuted for one). That happens in Putin’s Russia. That happens in banana republics, in Third World dictatorships.

Listen here, Buddy Boy, if that's even your real name, you just better STOP attacking the future Emperor Drumpf, hallowed be his name!

You and your libtard blog buddies make me want to puuuke! (trust me, it's funnier if you read it in Groundskeeper Willie's scottish brogue)

In case you haven't noticed, some people are saying Mr. Drumpf is the smartest, wealthiest, handsomest, manliest, successfulest, humblest, kindest, generousest, cleverest, modesestest, knowledgablest, fittest, tallest, strongest, healthiest, sexxyiest, humblest, and wisest man to ever walk the earth!

And run for president, also too!

Stop whining about his admitted sexual assaults on women, while you're at it! That's just something guys say! Plus, he's publicly apologized for them not really being attractive enough to assault! Afterall a molester of his stature and standing in the community has standards, ya know!

And don't forget that, on Coronation Day in January, people like Crooked Hillary, YOU and your libtard blog buddies are all going to be rounded up and sent to Make America Great Again internment camps for re-education in the TRUE American Way and possible execution.

USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! IN YOUR FACE!! USA!!! DRUMPF!! DRUMPF!! DRUMPF!! DRUMPF!! DRUMPF!!

Or, alternatively, we can all just go vote on November 8th and put an end to this orange-tinted shitstorm named Douchebag Donald.

Then check your cable listings for the debut of the new Drumpf's American Patriot Network featuring re-runs of The Apprentice and new episodes of The Biggest Loser, starring America's biggest loser himself plus The Judge Dimebag Darrell Issa Show with continuous coverage of President Clinton's eternal Benghazi hearings and never ending impeachment proceedings.

It is as if I wrote that piece -- it says exactly what I have been thinking and saying since 2008. She scared me senseless at her first speech and as she campaigned and talked about terrorists, and Obama, and Hillary, and as she encouraged the crazies in the audience.

And, McCain did try to stop it, at least once. But, he let her stay on the ticket, and over all these years he has never once owned up to the disaster that she was and is.

Had he gotten her off the ticket, or at least acknowledged how stupid he was to select her, I think much of what we have now mitght have been averted. Don't they always say the best way to stop a problem is to own it. He still has not done that, and she has just festered and festered, and now we have Trump and there are more scary followers for him than came out of the woodwork for her.

She may have faded, but he is just frightening. and, I agree -- this is John McCain's doing.

I am very scared but hope that Trump is done for. The fear of what he would do if he won is many times greater than what he will do if he looses.

Not only did he endorse Trump (after being attacked by him) before he unendorsed him, but he isn't supporting Hillary either. He's throwing his vote away on Lindsay Graham.

John McCain is one of the main poster boys for what is wrong with the Republican Party. If Trump destroys the GOP, McCain can take most of the credit because yes, it can be traced back to Sarah Palin.

I'm thinking a basic intelligence test is necessary, pass it and you'll get to vote, don't and guess what, you're too stupid for your voice to matter.

80% is the rate for passing, less than that, keep your political opinions, but most importantly your vote, to yourself.

I don't care about your sex or your color, but if you're too stupid, then not vote for you.

Sarah Palin On Donald Trump: ‘I Thank God That He’s Running’
    brian-tashman-4By Brian Tashman | August 5, 2015 4:05 pm

    http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/sarah-palin-on-donald-trump-i-thank-god-that-hes-running/

"Last week, Donald Trump told the hosts of “The Palin Update,” a webcast dedicated to all things Palin, that he would consider tapping the former-half-term governor for a post in his presidential administration. This week, Palin returned the favor, stopping by the program to praise the “awesome” Trump.

Palin, who once hailed Trump as a “hero,” didn’t hold back on praising the GOP presidential frontrunner: “He’s awesome. I thank God that he’s running. He’s stirring it up, he’s coaching, he’s educating the other candidates saying, ‘This is how you tap into the good part of a populist movement.’”

She urged other Republican candidates to “emulate” Trump rather than being “so stubborn and not humble enough to admit, ‘Oh, he’s right about that.’”"

"We do not have the luxury of discounting such language as simply bad taste or bad behavior without further investigation," he said.

So far, the Secret Service has not found anyone who heard "kill him" Tuesday except for the Times-Tribune reporter.

Shouts of "traitor," ''terrorist," ''treason," ''liar" and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at Republican rallies.

The anti-Obama taunts and jeers are noticeably louder when McCain appears with Palin, a big draw for Republican social conservatives. She accused Obama last week of "palling around with terrorists" because of his past, loose association with a 1960s radical."

How Half Of America Lost Its F**king Mind

It's Not About Red And Blue States -- It's About The Country Vs. The City

I'm going to explain the Donald Trump phenomenon in three movies. And then some text.

There's this universal shorthand that epic adventure movies use to tell the good guys from the bad. The good guys are simple folk from the countryside ...

... while the bad guys are decadent assholes who live in the city and wear stupid clothes:

...See, political types talk about "red states" and "blue states" (where red = Republican/conservative and blue = Democrat/progressive), but forget about states. If you want to understand the Trump phenomenon, dig up the much more detailed county map. Here's how the nation voted county by county in the 2012 election -- again, red is Republican:
