On last night's Real Time Bill Maher pointed out the real reason Trump is the GOP nominee. America is full of stupid people.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

“Last November when Trump was losing in Iowa, he said in Iowa, to Iowans,’How stupid are the people of Iowa?’ Maher said, playing the Clip of Trump. He noted that Trump is now leading in Iowa and expected to win. “So I guess he got his answer. That’s how stupid.”

It isn’t only Republicans either. According to Maher. Many of Bernie Sanders’ supporters have switched to being Gary Johnson voters. Yet, Johnson essentially opposes everything that Sanders stands for, with the exception of marijuana legalization.

Maher quoted results from recent polls where Americans were asked a series of what should have been very simple questions. Things like: “Does the sun go around the earth or the earth around the sun.” A full quarter of Americans got the answer wrong. At the same time, 35 percent of Americans can’t name one branch of government. Even the Governor of Oklahoma, an avid Trump supporter, got that one wrong. Sadly, only 36 percent can name all three branches and who knows how many people think the kardashianK are one of them? Maher cited a whopping 80 percent of Americans who think Ramadan is those cheap noodles college kids eat.

In case you are wondering how Maher can talk about stupid people in America without bringing up Sarah Palin, well he can't and you can see her mentioned at the 3:25 mark.

You know we are constantly warned not to call stupid people stupid, because it hurts their stupid feelings.

But the facts are the facts, and if they were not so stupid they would realize that.

Besides the increasing numbers of stupid people is not an accident.

This has been a long term plan by the conservatives to undermine education in this country by teaching kids to fill in the box rather than to think outside of one, to value test taking over critical thinking, and to create cogs in a machine rather than to reward imagination and creativity.

And when children are not having their inner light dimmed by an education system that does not value their uniqueness, they are home in front of a TV watching reality shows which celebrate tantrums, insults, and immaturity.

The question to ask is not how we got a Donald Trump candidacy, the question to ask is why did it take so long?

    OH BOY!

Another woman accuses Trump of sexual misconduct

    Caitlin Dickson
    October 15, 2016

A 10th woman has come forward to accuse Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.

Cathy Heller told the Guardian that during her first and only meeting with Donald Trump approximately 20 years ago, the businessman grabbed her and attempted a kiss, from which she recoiled. Visibly irritated, Heller claims, Trump snapped, “Oh, come on,” held her still, and forcibly kissed her on the lips.
“He kept me there for a little too long,” Heller, now 63, said of the incident, which she claims took place during a Mother’s Day brunch at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. “And then he just walked away.”

..... Later Saturday afternoon, the Trump campaign issued an official response to the Guardian story, arguing that, “There is no way that something like this would have happened in a public place on Mother’s Day at Mr. Trump’s resort. It would have been the talk of Palm Beach for the past two decades.”
The Guardian spoke to several friends and relatives of Heller’s who corroborated the story that they say she’s been sharing with those close to her for more than a year. In fact, according to the story published Saturday, Heller first told a Guardian reporter about her encounter with Trump back in February but at the time chose not to speak on the record.
“He said this is just talk, but it’s not just talk,” Heller said, explaining why she’s chosen to speak up now. “This was him.”....

Another Woman Accuses Trump of Sexual Misconduct
By MICHAEL EDISON HAYDEN DEAN SCHABNER
    Oct 15, 2016, 8:25 PM ET

Another woman came forward today accusing GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump of sexual misconduct today, adding to a growing list of women who have come forward with similar stories.

Cathy Heller, 63, alleges that Trump accosted her at a Mother's Day Event at Mar-A-Lago in the late 1990s, while she was with her family and her in-laws, according to a story first reported in The Guardian newspaper. The allegation has been denied by Trump campaign.

She told ABC News today that she was having brunch with her family at Mar-a-Lago on Mother's Day, sometime between 1996 and 2000, when Trump came to the table and was being introduced.

She said that when she put her hand out to say hello, he grabbed her unexpectedly and started to kiss her on the lips. She said she pulled away, but he grabbed her again and got her near her lips.

The incident happened in front of her family, and she yelled at her husband afterwards because he didn't do anything, she said.

She has told family and friends over the years, but didn't go public until now "because it wasn't newsworthy then," she said.

A friend's daughter who works for The Guardian approached her months ago asking if she would come forward, but Heller says she said no because she didn't think it was important then, but she feels it is now.

Even after Trump loses, the GOP is still toast

Last year, I wrote an article calling Donald Trump a godsend for moderate Republicans. Trump, I predicted, would lose so spectacularly that the GOP would be forced to transform itself, surrendering its mindless obstructionism, science denial, xenophobia and plutocracy. After a purge like that, the party would finally be able to compete in future national elections.

I was wrong. I now see that Trump’s candidacy has exacerbated the Republican Party’s weaknesses, alienating minorities, fracturing the base and stunting smart policy development. The party’s structural problems are so severe that reform is impossible. Even if Trump loses and the GOP races to forget him, the party is doomed. And very few of our leaders seem to care.

In the short run, it will be easy for Republicans to convince themselves that nothing needs to change. The establishment believes that Trump is an anomaly, an aberration. GOP leaders think the party’s next nominee will be a more typical politician who knows the issues, has well-developed debating skills and who will appeal to the elite and the Trumpkins. Someone like John Kasich or Marco Rubio.

Many leaders also assume that Hillary Clinton is an automatic one-termer. They think she’s incompetent, scandal-ridden and hell-bent on destroying the economy. They know, too, that neither party has held the White House for more than three terms in the post-World War II era.

But Clinton’s chances of being reelected in 2020 are better than Republicans think.

Donald Trump is setting the stage to never concede the 2016 election

...His rhetoric over the last 10 days suggests he is preparing to follow that very blueprint in November. Over and over again of late, Trump has indulged in the idea of a broad-scale global conspiracy being organized to keep him from being elected. And he has repeatedly used language describing the election as “rigged” by a Democratic Party and complicit media playing dirty pool.

At a rally on Friday in Greensboro, N.C., Trump leaned into his “rigged” premise.

“This whole election is being rigged,” Trump told the roaring crowd. “The whole thing is one big fix. One big ugly lie. It’s one big fix.”

Given that rhetoric, it's difficult for me to imagine that in 25 days time, if he comes up short to Hillary Clinton, Trump will simply concede the election. He is actively fomenting the idea that the results on Nov. 8 will be invalid no matter what they say because of the “rigged” nature of the whole process. He is priming the pump among his supporters to never accept that he actually lost but instead had it stolen from him by the Democratic-media complex, which couldn't deal with the truths he was telling.

Americans now live in two worlds, each with its own reality

...That's the gulf that Trump is both widening and exploiting. It's not hard to figure out why he's happily passing around bad information at this point: The media is reporting on a number of accusations that his 2005 hot-mic comments about groping women were a reflection of what he actually did and not just “locker room talk.” The best way to get people to ignore those accusations is to double-down on their existing skepticism about the media and, ideally, to loop his opponent into that same grand conspiracy. It's not clear how this is a scenario that will propel him to victory in November, but it is clearly a strategy that might, at least, allow him to save face.

The rift in the electorate, though, may end up being a much harder problem to plaster over.

You can't rest all of the blame on Trump.

The media is more than culpable in this. They create it and it's up to them to fix it. They're doing some now by exposing Trump's credibility and unfitness for the office. But that monster they created is going to need a long and intensive attack before they'll be able to put that Djinn back in the bottle.

Many developed their beliefs by hearing this drivel over and over and that is the only way to get rid of it. Hearing a different meme over and over and over until it finally sticks. The only question is, is there any gray matter for it to stick in. Because as Bill Maher so correctly stated, (some) Americans are just stupid.

O/T Talking About Guns with the Democrat Who Can Assemble an AR-15 Blindfolded

Senate hopeful Jason Kander looks to unseat the GOP incumbent Roy Blunt, being pro-gun background checks in a state that loves its guns.

Now, with little more than a month to go before election day, polls show Kander in a dead heat with GOP incumbent Roy Blunt, who most political prognosticators assumed was a shoo-in for reelection. Yet, the venerable Cook Political Report recently moved the Missouri Senate race from “leans Republican” to “toss-up.” What makes Kander’s rise in the polls even more remarkable is that he’s doing it in a state that Donald Trump should win with ease, which means that some of Kander’s support is coming not just from Democrats but from Trump supporters, as well.

Besides that Roy and his family are into political nepotism and the poor fuck looks like an escapee from a Batman film.

      Oh also:

" Blunt tried to slip a favor for Altria into the Homeland Security bill. On Nov. 13, 2002,
the same day Blunt was named House majority whip and just hours before House members
were to vote on a bill creating the Department of Homeland Security, Blunt instructed his
staff to insert language favored by Altria into the bill, which would have made it harder to
sell tobacco products over the Internet and would have cracked down on the sale of
contraband cigarettes. House Speaker Hastert removed the provision upon learning of it."

I did not, for my sanity's sake, watch Ann Coulter's interview but i did watch the panel. The female panelist (cannot recall her name) was good. She expressed how women reacted first to the Trump tape and then to Michelle Obama's speech. I was really disappointed however in Kerrey. He seemed to be absolutely out of it with his defense of all the wonderful people who are supporting Trump. After Maher described some of the outrageous statements made by Trump since the primary season began so very long ago, Kerrey still defended those Midwesterners who live with gigantic ear plugs and blindfolds on so they don't have to think. At that point, I couldn't wait to turn it off.

Saw Bill Maher on Fareed Zakaria's CNN show this morning. See it if you can--really good.
