Not a mind reader, but I think I know what Obama is thinking. |
The extraordinary meeting was a reflection of the swift and sudden change in the political mood between the frenzied last days of an election campaign and the reality of government and the transition of power between to administrations that follows.
"My No. 1 priority in the next two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-elect is successful," Obama said.
Obama told Trump: "If you succeed, the country succeeds," as the two men sat in high-backed chairs in front of the fireplace in the Oval Office.
Trump thanked Obama for the meeting which he said had originally been scheduled for 10 minutes and went on for 90.
"Mr President, it was a great honor being with you and I look forward to being with you many, many more times," Trump said, adding that he and Obama had spoken about some wonderful and difficult things and "some high-flying assets."
It was not immediately clear about what he meant.
The President-elect also said he would seek "counsel" from Obama.
As the pool of reporters were led out, Trump told them several times that Obama was "a very good man."
Which I'm sure he followed with "You know, for a guy from Kenya."
Here is a little video of the meeting.
Personally I only see one President in this video, and it certainly is NOT the giant Oompa Loompa.
My President is a gracious and hopeful man, who is always working to get the best for the American people.
Mr. Putin's president is a hateful internet troll come to life, who will surely leave a path of destruction in his wake.
Donald told the press after the meeting he will use the CIA, FBI, NSA and Russia to finally find Obama's real birth certificate.
ReplyDeleteThat's bullshit.
DeleteI still want to see Trump's tax returns.
DeleteTrump is on good behavior now, but can he keep it up? I don't think so. A seventy-year-old leopard isn't going to change his spots.
ReplyDeleteHe can"t and he won't. He is in way over his head and the honeymoon will be over before his first 100 days pass.
DeleteI'd like to suggest that all progressives write a letter of thanks and appreciation to the Obama family for their strong leadership and unfailing grace over the past 8 years. And I hope people will also write a letter of thanks to the Biden family. President Obama is a great man but he didn't and couldn't do everything on his own. He has had an excellent copilot in Joe Biden and the Bidens deserve many thanks and much credit as well.
I think so too. Just wait until someone annoys him and out will come the nasty tweets. Trump has the maturity of a four year old.
DeleteBeaglemom
I have always liked the fact that VP Biden and President Obama have worked well together and like and respect each other to boot! Great folks - both of them!
Delete1:25
DeleteYou have a great inspiration for me. I not only need to write a letter to the Obama's, the Biden's, but to Hillary as well.
I then continue on with Al Franken, Amy Klombuchar and Keith Ellison as MN legislators.
We need to remember that Hillary won by more than 1 million votes. And then, fight like hell to prevent the most obscene Trump comments during the campaign from ever happening.
Thank you for inspiring me as I rid myself of a massive headache, stomachache and general malaise.
Obama is reacting like Trump's hand smells like pussy.
ReplyDeleteIvanka's.
DeleteLol! I feel for President Obama, having to touch that gross fat little hand.
DeleteNotice how they're both guarding their genitals.
DeleteI also think the chairs were place as far apart as possible while still allowing them to shake hands. Do we think that is the way it would look if Hillary was president-elect?
I love how Trump is forced to twist and really lean over to shake Obama's hand. Yeah, Trump has a LOT to learn. But it won't be from Obama. They'll never meet again and certainly never speak. Trump will never ask any advice from Obama. That was just for show.
Trump will never be a member of the presidents' club. In the future, when they meet, Trump will be all alone by himself like Melania was after the second debate. No one is going to want to willingly talk to him. Can't you see Jimmy, George Herbert, George, Bill and Barack all hanging out, laughing and chatting and there's Donald over there stuffing his mouth with shrimp.
I would not shake his hand - don't know where it's been. Bet Obama immediately washed his hands as soon as frump left.
DeleteI thought Trump looked very ill at ease and out of place in that photo op with President Obama. His racist feelings coming through by any chance? Or, did he finally realize that President Obama is one sharp dude?
ReplyDeleteI'll bet President Obama was thinking - how in the Hell does this idiot have the capabilities to govern our country?
Wish I could be a fly on the wall when President Obama and First Lady Michelle discuss their encounters today with both Trumps!
Trump in no way looks presidential and he will never be my president!
America is in huge trouble even though the media is currently trying to make Trump appear fit and normal as to being our president.
You cannot trust the media folks! That has been proven too!
I think he realized the President is one sharp dude. As I was watching this on TV I wondered if Obama is playing 3 D chess again. If there is one thing a narcissist wants it's to be adored and respected. Taking council from a well loved President would help Trump with that! ;)
DeleteI don't believe President Obama is about to leave us hanging.
I watched this earlier today and it made me skeptically calmer about the election. Supposedly, the media was pissy since Trump didn't include them in this trip to meet Obama. For all the things he has said and done to Obama over the last 8 years, I think he may have been feeling a slight amount of regret since this is the first time he actually met with Obama and had a chance to meet him. I would rather have Trump feel like he has an ally in Obama as he transitions to being the president. Everyone else that he has to deal with (Guilani, Gingrich, Christie, Putin, Palin) all want something out of supporting him. All Obama wants is to help him be successful. Guess I'm wearing my rose colored glasses today after having a headache since Tuesday evening.
Delete12:06 I totally agree with you. If this meeting with Obama was a pleasant surprise for Trump, I hope he contacts Obama very often for counsel. It is a tough role to step into and there are only a few living presidents who have gone through the same thing.
DeleteTrump always listens to the last person he talks when making decisions. If the person can be Mr. Obama more power to him.
DeleteJust another thought along this line...Ivanka will want to be associated with young women like Chelsea Clinton not Bristol Palin types. Even thought the Trumps are low brow in certain ways they want very badly to be highly thought of.
DeleteI'm pretty sure that trump was feeling very inferior to POTUS, as well he should given his 4th grade vocabulary and complete and utter lack of political acumen.
DeleteThere are going to be a lot of uncomfortable moments like this for POTUS elect trump as he realizes he's in more over his head than even was palin as our Governor.
That video shows me the very moment when shit got really real for trump and it is precious!
No, 12:21 I see that. Obama will not go low.
DeleteNone of the former POTUS voted for Donald Trump! That should be very embarrassing for Donald, but he's too much of an idiot to understand why - or, even care!
DeleteI agree in that it appeared that Trump has gained a newfound respect for Obama. Plus, I think that with the Obama's remaining in D.C. for the time being, the idea of Obama being able to be nearby for advice will be a good thing. I hope the Obamas have a chance to take a well deserved vacation, but I hope that they remain very active in governmental affairs in the future - that can only be a good thing for progressives.
DeleteThere was a press conference at the White House.
ReplyDeletePress Media: What are the president's thoughts? He said just on Monday that Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be Commander-In-Chief uniquely unqualified. Does he still believe that?
White House Press Secretary Josh Ernest: Look, the president's views hasn't changed. He stands by what he said on the campaign trail.
OUCH!
As President Obama reached out to shake Trump's hand in the White House, President Obama looked at the camera with a big smile and said,
ReplyDelete"And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."
Love it. Obama's the real star. Trump will always be a wannabe. He'll always be a needtobe.
DeleteObama certainly has media protection. And a certain amount of secrecy in his life and administration. (The former I have no problem with because no one deserves judgment in their personal life.)
ReplyDeleteGo troll Bristol's Instagram with whatever name you kiss ass with this week. I noticed that c4p booted you recently.
DeleteAnon at 11:33 am. You keep inviting criticism by repeating your statement about how no one deserves to be judged for their personal life. I think that someone who has posed almost naked for profit and someone who has cheated in his business dealings and who has spent almost the last two years disparaging just about every group of people on the planet deserve to be judged as harshly as possible.

ReplyDeleteYes President Obama is both of those things and much more. But at this point most of us are more concerned with about the mentally unstable old orange guy.
Deletetimes one million or more votes OVER Trump!
DeleteThe EC was created to ensure regions outside big cities have a voice. Back in the day wasn't it to protect farmers? Government has never been trusted because since forever people who run for office do so by way of bribes. And the people who are blown away by the election result are the people who pay attention to nothing. The D party hasn't been "for the people" in a long time. The media lied to the people in pretty big ways and continues to lie. Some of Trumps comments are literally said/written to show how stupid and outlandish the media is. Pretty confident given how Obama was optimistic after both the first phone call and today's meeting, people need to chill. A man who calls himself a winner and knows what failure is does not want to let his voters down. He doesn't want to fail. The people who voted for Trump are not automatically Trump apologists. They're not automatically misogynists or racists. The people who voted for him include people who were making more money at age 20 in blue collar jobs than many over-extended, debt-ridden 30 yr olds with liberal arts degrees make. Because they're pragmatic and independent, refusing to become societal sheep. Let his outsider brain try to find ways to better the country without raising taxes. If that includes cutting green programs until bridges aren't hazards, is it bad? There are a ton of people in their communities trying to limit wastefulness etc. THAT is the American spirit. A federal government should oversee that a country doesn't literally crumble and ensure the people it sent to vanity wars aren't neglected among other necessary things. It can't be citizens personal keeper.

I love your sage advice!
Totally agree with you. If someone cannot be bothered to hit the RETURN key, then I cannot be bothered to read what they have typed.
Same thing with all CAPS. If a person cannot be bothered to use upper and lower case, and instead types in all caps, then I don't bother to read their message.

DeleteWell ignorant typing genius. It was to ensure that the slaves owners could count their slaves as 3/5's people/persons.
History is your friend. The rural dipshits that will be screaming the loudest just voted against their own interests. One million voted against your slave owners theory. OVER Trump!
I will match MY degree against yours any day because I actually did learn from history and academics.
What the fuck happened to you?
Did you even watch the debates?
DeleteThe electoral college was set up by our founding fathers, the elites, as a stop gap to ensure that the educated would have a means to protect the government should the people elect an idiot.
And yeah, they are. Either they are stupid or they knew exactly what Trump was and voted for him anyway in what? a big FUCK YOU hissy fit to their fellow Americans?
There's a reason we have sayings like "birds of a feather" and "you're judged by the company you keep." As far as I'm concerned, everyone that voted for Trump shares everything we know about him because they knew and still supported him. Racist, Bigot, Xenophobe, Liar, Adulterer, Tax cheat, Thief, Misogynist, Sexual abuser, and possibly sexual predator and rapist. Let us not forget sociopath, narcissist, illiterate, limited vocabulary, vindictive, unfocused, limited attention span, temperamental and emotionally unstable. Fascist.
Yeah, there's your president. Anyone that thought he was fit for the office has no grounds to object to being lumped in with Orange Hitler.
They own Trump and all of the fallout from that administration from hell he is going to foist on us. I'll also blame them for the polluted air, water, food, every animal that goes extinct, the clear cutting of our forests, the loss of our protected lands and open spaces. I'll blame them for the 50 million deaths that will result from having no healthcare once the Republican take away Obamacare and reduce or eliminate Medicare. I will blame them for it all for being selfish and butt hurt and stupid. Their voting against their own best interests resulted in the best interests of the rest of us getting screwed too. Big time. Huge.
Permanently.

DeleteWe all saw hillarys'unfavorables, Biden would have been the best choice. DWS and the DNC made sure it was HER time.
DeleteI think that Hillary Clinton was an amazing candidate - eminently experienced, intelligent, articulate, caring. Not even a saint as the Democratic candidate would have passed muster with the US media which was so enamored of Donald Trump despite the fact that many of the major newspapers refused to endorse him. The all "held their noses" endorsing Hillary Clinton who had done nothing to deserve the negatives. And, folks, Bernie Sanders could never have withstood all that Hillary did during the campaign.

DeleteIf you went along with the DNC pretending and believing that it was OK that they could ramrod Hillary down everyones throats without consequences, assuming she would slide into the Presidency- then YOU deserve what YOU got.
DeleteTrump fairly beat down, beat out, a large contingent of Republican hopefulls to win the Republican nomination, against the entire Republican establishment.
Hillary and the DNC and the Democratic establishment decided it didn't care what it's constituents and independents wanted. They conspired and colluded and lied and performed every dirty trick in the book to plow Hillary thru the finish line.
And you all fell into line like you were told, and you paid for it. Are you sure you are even Democrats? You folks certainly don't have the spirit of Democrats. You just remind me of Sarah Palin superfans quite frankly. In denial. Denial denial denial.

Barack and Michelle Obama Cancel First Couples' Photo Op With Donald and Melania Trump
Thanks, but no thanks. President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama canceled a first couples' photo op with President-elect Donald Trump and soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump during a November 10 visit to the White House, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Per the publication, "the Obamas canceled a photo op of the current and future first couples outside the south entrance of the White House." While the WSJ did not offer any further details about Barack and Michelle's decision to forgo posing with Donald and Melania, their abandonment of tradition only seems to emphasize how contentious this year's presidential election was.

I was delighted to see that Michelle and President Obama did not give the Trumps the big fanfare greeting that we see for foreign leaders or previous incoming presidents.

The press secretary is spinning it now but we know what's really going on. Barrack took a hit for the team.
"Earnest told reporters that the first couples' photo was “lower in priority” than the photo op of Barack and Donald inside the Oval Office."
Is it just me, or does it seem this 'transition' is being rushed A LOT? I don't remember that before, the president-(s)elect got invited so fast to come to the WH.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it more conventional to wait until the electors have voted, or at least until all the absentee votes got counted???

DeleteThe people that have experience and plan to win are all ready for this.
DeleteIt makes me sick to get into Obama's head because having 8 years of hard-won progress, progress that was so much less than it could have been because of an obstructionist Congress, but progress nonetheless, be torn down and relegated to the trash heap of history.
ReplyDeleteBuy hey, Bill Clinton had to sit back and watch W destroy all of the economic progress he'd made for America, so this is how America works; 8 good years followed by 4-8 years of absolute fuckery.
Good news though, this is the last time, this is the last gasp of the old white people and the stupid over breeders, and I hope that their "savior" bends them over and gives them everything that they asked for ;-)
I actually pity trump when his electorate discovers that he ain't gonna do jack shit to make their lives better, it's gonna be sweet, and ya know what, they've lost all of the support from us, the progressive moderates, those that would give to food banks, donate to organizations that helped the great unwashed of America.
Fuck those people and their massive broods of unplanned spawn, fuck 'em right into the ground and into starvation and deprivation.
All of my charitable donations are going to public TV and radio that's it, nada for you stupid mouthbreathing idiots. May your suffering be great and your demise be amusing.
The congress was bad enough when W was in there, but the GOP became pure evil after 2008. My husband was laid off in March of 2009 and it it was torture watching CSPAN whenever the discussion was about trying to get an unemployment extension for families done, and it usually was just in the nick of time and for a very short time. And the GOP kept cutting off funds to the government itself, so that when my husband finally find get a new job working for the IRS there were so many furlough times because of congress not funding areas of the govt. I hate the GOP. When I was a kid and younger adult the GOP was reasonable. They're pieces of shit now. There are a few decent Republicans, but so few.
DeleteAnon at 1:01 pm. The last of the "decent" Republicans was William Milliken who served as Michigan's governor decades ago. Last spring, because he did not support Trump as the primaries dragged on, he was booted out of the county GOP. It was such a shameful act.

DeleteSo many of these folks (parents/adults) have brought on their own problems (I never use to think that way!) and many of them voted for Donald Trump.
Just wait until they realize he lied to them and won't follow through with his blatant lies!
The Republicans (now in control of all three levels of our government which, in itself, is deplorable, will cut off, or reduce the amounts, of funds currently received by Americans that were earned via working for years. And, I'm referencing Social Security (for retirement), Social Security handicap benefits, Medicare and Medicaid.
Everyone in the country is going to suffer in some manner other than the rich/wealthy! The younger folks have no clue what is going to be ahead of them and the current senior citizens, handicapped, sick and elderly are the Americans that are going to suffer!
The rich, white, elderly, Republican men will eventually die off and then things will hopefully change as the country population turns browner and outvotes those wealthy whites.
Pay attention to those around you, younger Americans. You, too, will be a senior citizen, end up w/a disease that handicaps you, or very sick at sometime in your lives!
We sorely will need God's protection under the dictatorship of Donald Trump and his Administrators! They will bring major harm to America!

As his body moves and his suit tightens, you notice his rolls of fat and how his pants' inseam gathers about his flabby crotch and his hunched shoulders and bright white hands that contrast with his orange-pink head. He overdoes it with the handshake in his wish to let everyone know he has a firm handshake.
He is so completely outclassed.
+++++++++++++++++++++to infinity.
DeleteHe's physically ridiculous and if you look closely at his spawn they are too.
DeleteThey are malformed with small heads and long torsos and that poor little Barron looks like a typical autistic mess with all of his twitching and mouth movements. No wonder his mother says he is "special" because he's more special than anyone really knows, and now with the spotlight on him we're going to get the truth about his deformities as well.
The genes in that trump mess are just that, a mess and even though he fixed up Ivanka's face and tits she still has that strange body type and uncomfortable demeanor that screams of degenerate gene pool.
They literally look like space aliens, and not the good kind.
In the limited amount of time that I've seen of Barron, he seems very shy and socially awkward. He's about to have to pack up and move in the muddle of the school year and a lot of bullying and criticism await him. I sorta feel sorry for him but his parents made this bed for him and they should've thought about this before the Velveeta Raccoon ran for office.
DeleteYou crack me up -- you are bang on with your description.
DeleteI'm chortling like a banshee ;-P
I realize it's very immature but it feels good to escape my overall feeling of doom and despair, if only for a bit....
@anon Of course Baron seems awkward, he is not used to actually being with his parents.
DeleteTrump will be able to push through legislation as absurd as making it illegal to be dark skinned, or gay.
ReplyDeleteThe teabagger congress will jam it through, unopposed. The Supreme Court will have enough radical domestic terrorists sitting on it, to prevent it from being challenged.
And people wonder why progressives are "concerned?"
Those who are constantly referring to the Constitution as if its a book in the Holy Bible, (but haven't bothered to READ IT) are gleefully doing the opposite of what the forefathers imagined: killing all means of having checks and balances by voting in the extremists of one party, to every branch of government.
Only after losing their old age security, welfare, unemployment, food stamps, and all humane aspects of polite society, will it dawn on them that they voted for some dipshit SLOGAN, without questioning just HOW the nation was to be made great again.
It will be great if you are already very rich. Its going to be a nightmare for the fools who will have absolutely no chance of ever achieving that status.
He'll change the law so you can't sue a president even for crimes committed before he was president so he can have a carte blanche over anything from Trump U to the Trump Foundation. At the end of his term he'll give himself a blanket pardon.
DeleteHe'll also have Congress and/or the Supremes change the nepotism law so Eric, Jr. and Ivanka can all have positions. Jr. reeeeeally wants to be Secretary of the Interior so he can shoot all of the animals.
He'll have a lot of laws changed, eliminated or written to benefit from personally. Because it's always about him.
Notice how much bigger Mr. Obama's hands are.....
ReplyDeleteIm forwarding your improper comment to the new Department of Media Truthiness! The director Sarah Palin will be getting back to you about this as soon as she gets done shopping at Neiman Marcus.
DeleteThat was one of the first things I noticed in the photo. President Obama's fingers look normal and the "short fingered vulgarian" has tiny short fingers. What a horrible turn of events make him viable as _______ (anything you want to add). He is in my opinion despicable, not worthy to be in the same room much else as a runner up to the man shaking his hand. He will never be my president not even my poop picker-upper. Just for clarity: I am elderly , white, female, southerner and hater of assholes.
DeleteLove it 1:33!
DeleteAndrea, we are not weeping becausr we got it wrong. We are weeping because there will be a rapist, America tax cheater, whore as us prez. Do you know how disgusting that is!?
DeleteI cried all day yesterday. Not because Hillary lost but because this babbling baboon and his trophy wife are replacing an amazing couple who have intelligence, compassion, empathy, style, grace and warmth.
ReplyDeleteI cried when my hairdresser who is from Mexico, expressed her fears for the safety of her family. I cried when my homosexual friends shared how fearful they are that they will lose all the progress they have made toward equality - marriage and otherwise. They questioned how their families could say they love and support them but yet vote for this POS. I cried when my black friends sent me texts about white assholes harassing African American students on the Wellsley campus, their beloved alma mater.
I cried to think that this is our new reality. I cried when I thought about Congressman Lewis and all he stood up for, all he bled for. I cried when I envisioned the 1950's photos of hateful white people taunting black people.
Fuck you DJT.
And the whores he rode in on!
DeleteTrump certainly does not look like the "healthiest" and ever to be elected president. He looks overweight, blotchy and flushed. President Obama, on the other hand, looks as handsome as ever, despite the effects of having had to deal with an obstructive Congress for the last eight years.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
I think he's looking around at the "dump" he's expected to live in and thinking .... not enough gold.
DeleteI have shut Orange Hitler out of my life, I'm not American so I don't have to look at him or listen to a word he says.
ReplyDeleteI will say though that Orange Hitler is probably the single safest person for Obama to be in a room with because Orange Hitler is the most cowardly person in the United States.
As I noted yesterday, courage is defined as grace under pressure. No American has shown more of that than Hillary Clinton. Orange Hitler has shown zero grace under pressure.
Orange Hitler would be plenty cowed by just being in a room with greatness. Barack Obama knows just how to strike the right tone, and I'm sure he was plenty intimidating to Orange Hitler in his intellect, wisdom and charm.
The HuffPost headline reads 'Dignity Meets Disgrace'. Can't put it better myself.
I think Dullard Drumpf is in a lot more danger of assassination than Obama was and from his own supporters. They are going to be angry that he didn't put Hillary in prison or round up the Muslims and put them in camps or build that fucking wall or deport all of the illegals the first week.
DeleteRight after the first of the year General Motors is laying off 2,000 workers in Ohio and Michigan. They waited until after the election to announce it. SURPRISE! Happy you voted for that lying piece of shit now?
Every time he breaks one of his campaign promises it is going to fester until one of his knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, gun hoarding uneducated bigots (probably a former auto worker from Ohio or Michigan) decides to take Trump out.
And I will put on a red dress and go out dancing.
I agree with you, 8:26 PM. Have you noticed how many security folks surround him - there are many and more than President Obama has around him (at least that we see).
DeleteI think Trump will be shot or go down due to a massive heart attack. He appears overweight, very unhealthy, has horrible skin, flushes easily and will not be able to handle the pressure as 'acting' potus. Pence will handle the hard part of the job, but Trump will continue to get bad press for what he says and does and that will be his pressure and dislike of the job!
I would dance on his grave when he is gone from our wonderful earth and country!
What I found amazing was the look on Trump's face throughout his meeting w/President Obama (at least the part that media showed via President Obama's media coverage - Trump blocked his coverage of it!)
DeleteTrump appeared to be overwhelmed, slouched over and understanding for the first time what he was going to be up against.
I'm also sure President Obama minced no words w/him and told him exactly what things were like in the job!
Trump will be under the same type scrutiny and perhaps even more since he's proven himself to be such an ass and inept!
As much as I'll never see him as my potus, he is going to be interesting to watch and very likely fail at some point within a year or two!
I think he will be impeached at some point or taken down due to a major illness or heart attack - or even assassination!
The two above photos of Trump are horrible - he is grimacing in both! He's nothing more than a racist pig and is not my president!
ReplyDeleteHe's already limiting the press as to access to him. Don't trust the obese and unhealthy jerk as far as I could throw him!
He is NOT my president! Many in America seem to feel the same way which is shown in the demonstrations currently in the news.
I think he'll put a major halt to those too once he has been sworn in...I think he'll pull about the military and actually kill people! He is going to be a dictator and will show it slowly as he moves into the process of complete takeover!
Speak your piece now - you may not be able to later. I wonder how many comedian TV shows he'll take down too - Bill Maher, etc.? I just hope they are not killed in that process!
America is in for big, big trouble and you idiots that elected him are going to get your due and the rest of us are going to suffer too!
Think about it. It's ALL on the Republicans now. No more dodging their responsibilities in Congress; no more obstructionism; no more witch hunts. TeaTrump has complete control now, so let's see him deliver on all the empty promises, starting on Day 1 of his presidency. YEAH, RIGHT!
ReplyDeleteIf you're still feeling defeated or depressed today then reading this should make you feel better along with the top comments. I'm still going to roll up my sleeves and do what I can the next 4 years so take heart:
Trump voters will not like what happens next
http://tinyurl.com/hydw5nw
This. This is exactly what my husband and I have been saying since Tuesday.
DeleteWe're going to tune out, live our lives.
The onus is on trump and his administration now to try to please those who voted for him and everyone with half a brain knows that he is going to sorely disappoint his biggest supporters, and yes, it will be fun to watch, from the sidelines, with zero personal interest in the outcome.
We are washing our hands and moving onward and upwards and doing all the things we neglected while worrying too much for the last two years about the outcome of this election.
Thank you Garrison, I enjoyed meeting you twice during your appearances in Alaska, and thank you Colleen for sharing this link.
Once again saner minds prevail and remind us what is important, and it certainly is not spending years of our lives focused on politics and campaigns and their possible outcomes. Life is precious, spend it wisely.
Thank you for the link. I feel a little better now ( trembling smile).
DeleteThe problem with tuning out (what I did while Reagan was in office) is that, this time, all of our lives will be grievously affected. Reagan did not deliberately single out minority groups of people to assault verbally. Trump did. I'm not even sure if Congress was ever totally GOP while Reagan was in office. And there were still some GOP members of Congress who cared about the country and its fundamental values. Those protections are all gone now. All Americans are now fodder for the new "great America." Think of all the people who will suffer enormously if they lose their health care and if Social Security becomes some fake imitation of what it has been all these years. None of us are going to be able to just tune out the next four years. We won't have a free press; we won't have any kind of social safety net; we won't have any legal system left in place to protect people from tyrants; we will have no federal agencies like NOAA, the EPA, the FDA, the FCC, the FEC to protect us. It's a scary proposition - this unbrace new world of Donald Trump.
DeleteBeaglemom
Trump is a mealy mouthed phoney baloney. Look at all the horrible things he's said about Hillary and Obama -- they're just great people yada yada yada.
ReplyDeleteThe presidency is very hard work -- look at the toll it's taken on every president. Obama looked a lot different 8 years ago. Ditto GW Bush. I doubt Trump will survive it.
And speaking of being a mealy mouthed phoney, one of his promises on the list was this -
44. Rather than throw the Chinese president a state dinner, buy him "a McDonald's hamburger and say we've got to get down to work."
Ya wanna bet he goes all out and kowtows and throws a banquet LOL Wonder how he's decide between Kid Rock and
Ted Nugent for entertainment LOL

Say goodbye to net neutrality.

I am getting the feeling that there are some serious legal issues within the trump candidacy. Trump was not prepared to run and win. Nor was his hired help. His lawyers will be over worked and over paid for years and years and years. Hillary joined the list of winners....gore....Kerry that actually won but denied due to electoral crimes against americans.
ReplyDeleteWe need to do a lawsuit!! Yes electoral laws sgainst Americans.
DeleteHe also has to disclose his taxes.
DeleteWhenever you take a government position, be it a seat on your local community planning group or President of the United States, you have to go through a few hours of an orientation and fill out forms about your income to make sure there is nothing illegal, no conflict of interest and you don't benefit from your position financially. You also have to provide several years worth of tax forms.
I doubt Dullard knew any of this when he decided to run.
Being President is going to put his private business in the public eye. It is also going to take control of all of his businesses away from him. He is a control freak and for four years he will NOT be running any of his companies or his "foundation".
I'm not certain but they might even be available under the freedom of information act.
Should be an interesting read.
And if he doesn't fill them out truthfully, it's grounds for IMPEACHMENT
HIs could be the shortest term ever. He might be "impeached" before he's even taken the oath.
Rtrump so so so unfit mentally to be anything but stupid orange ape
ReplyDeleteSociopaths are experts at acting personable and, frequently, charming. Today's meeting was Trump medicated to ensure he could maintain personable mode.
ReplyDeleteDidn't last long.
DeleteHe got his twitter back.
Already attacking the First Amendment.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-twitter_us_58252f39e4b0c4b63b0c14c7
"President-elect Donald Trump, whose aides reportedly wrested control of his Twitter account days before the election, launched his first caustic tweet in weeks Thursday night, suggesting he’s back in charge.
Ten minutes after Trump’s account sent a tweet that called his White House visit with President Barack Obama a “good meeting” with “great chemistry,” he tweeted again, blasting protests that have flared up around the country in response to his presidential victory.
He blamed the media and “professional protesters” for the demonstrations, and seemed to criticize people for exercising their First Amendment rights. “Very unfair!” "
A grown man whining that it's not fair! Geesh, grow the fuck up.
In 2008 when Obama won the Presidency and the Democrats had both the House and Senate I felt safe. Then in 2010 when the Democrats lost control of the House I thought Ok the Democrats still have the Senate and we have Obama to protect us. In 2014 when Repukes won the Senate I thought we still have Obama. Now we have all 3 branches of Gov controlled by repukes and a Madman in The White House. Iam terrified and i fear we are all screwed.I shudder for this country.
ReplyDeleteThis is not suppose to happen in the USA with all three levels of our government being majority one party - Republicans!
DeleteFuck the Republicans and fight them every step of the way in your cities, communities and states.
We need to stop them and we can! Look at all the demonstrations going on across the country as a starter...anti Trump and the Republican party!
We need to step up and do our own part! Talk to others - find folks that thing the way you do - gather together and speak out!
Trump can be brought down - very likely impeached within the first few years of his term. He is 70 and will still be the asshole he showed himself to be on the campaign trail. He will not change at his age and is a horrible representative for America and the world!
Steps of grief over Trump presidency: Queasy, queasier, upchuck, shock, denial, anger, anger, anger.
ReplyDeleteI going with the drink, drink, drink, smoke some weed, sleep, drink, drink, drink, smoke some different weed, watch a movie and then drink some more. Basically just normal winter behavior here in AK ;-)
DeleteDang, az voted no on marijama. Could have done the same. Lol.
DeleteWeird, az voted no. You would think it may help stop drug trade and let az grow pot. Lol.
Surprising as to AZ - especially because many retired folks live there and doctors prescribe marijuana for various illnesses. Doesn't make sense to me at all.
DeleteBut, they can use the black market and still get it!

ReplyDeleteWhat the hell does this mean and why did Hillary concede alraedy if a tossup is still possible?

ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/douglas-anthony-cooper/the-electoral-college-was_b_12897066.html?section=us_politics
Delete"The Founding Fathers foresaw just this catastrophe, and built a fail-safe into the Constitution. It’s called the Electoral College. Alexander Hamilton was explicit: this mechanism was designed to ensure that “the office of president will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” In short, it was designed to prevent just this situation: the rise of an unqualified demagogue like Donald Trump."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/davidhalperin/electoral-college-can-sto_b_12899016.html?section=us_politics
"In our nation’s history, more than 99 percent of electors have voted as pledged in the Electoral College. But electors are not required to do so. A “faithless elector“ has surfaced a number of times in our past - 157 times. 29 states bar faithless electors, so 21 states do not. Even in states where the practice is barred, the penalties can be light."
"In 1788, in the Federalist Papers, Alexander Hamilton warned of the risks of inaugurating a president with”[t]alents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity,” and he argued for the proposed electoral college system in these terms: “The process of election affords a moral certainty, that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” Such a man stands on the verge of being inaugurated, but the process established by our Founders has not been completed."
"As Americans we have the right and indeed the duty to prevent an unfit person from taking the oath of office as our president."
How unfit may reveal itself between now and when the electoral college meets.
Trump got his Twitter account back.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-twitter_us_58252f39e4b0c4b63b0c14c7
While his staff may be busy walking back his rhetoric and scrubbing his website, Trump will be resuming his 3am twitter rants. If he goes off the deep end, it could be enough electors get together to boot him out legally. It would be his own people. We'd still end up with a Republican president but at least it wouldn't be Trump.
Native Treaties, canons of Construction. So if Hamilton wanted right thinking people to vote for US prez, then do that electorates, vote right thinking. Or use the vote as msnbc news show stated, Hillz won the vote!!!#
ReplyDeleteHaha, showed my gramma 78 mellay porno pics. She goes, "oooheeew!" "What?, ooow they are our president family, ooww." Hahaha. She grossed out on his wife.
ReplyDeleteHigh flying assets might be the new airforce one. I remember at the beginning of Obama's term congress cut the funding and pushed it back or something like that.
