Senator Al Franken tweets actual Breitbart headlines as criticism of Stephen Bannon.

Look I don't want to jump to any conclusions here, but I think there is a pretty good chance that Al Franken does not think that Stephen Bannon should be Donald Trump's adviser.

In fact there is the possibility that he thinks Bannon is a racist. misogynistic, pile of putrid pig puke.

Okay that last part might be MY opinion of him now that I think about it.

What a POS. No time to even make a single contact with the State Dept., Dept. of Defense and so on, but he's talking to boxers and entertainers and sneaking out for a steak at a place that charges almost $40 just for a burger (that single burger's a nice little chunk of a middle class family's weekly grocery allowance).

He's talking about infrastructure yet doesn't want the money to come from taxes. All he has offered has been the taking of money from what he considers waste: programs that help those in need. He thinks eventually there will be revenue from changes made to trade policy, but if that even happens it's a long way off. The GOP have refused to spend money without immediately cutting money somewhere, and it always goes back to cutting aid to the poor and govt programs that we actually depend on every day.

Expect this to be the way of the future, until they have raped the planet for all resources. They will only breed with each other, until they have created the same problems rampant in the old monarchies of Europe. I hope those medical problems strike sooner rather than later - like this year!

I'm glad people like Franken and Bernie are continuing to object publicly to Bannon. Others are, but you can feel that over the past couple days a lot of people have just resigned themselves to the choice. I was very disappointed that Chuck Schumer, in front of the mic the other day, came across as having a "go along to get along" kind of attitude by saying not one damn thing objecting to the Bannon pick. I mean, come on, he's Jewish and absolutely should have addressed the insults to Jews, and he should have stuck up for women and minorities. All he had to say was one well-articulated sentence, but he didn't. I know he'll be tough in session, but we need the Dem leaders to speak out in public when it comes to the most obvious egregious choices Trump is making.

Wow, 8:20, that sure is a debauched and psycho post. Your reply makes absolutely no sense in terms of my post's subject matter.

And for your information, I am a longtime Hillary supporter and have posted criticisms of Bernie on IM in the past. Mature and intelligent people are able to give credit when it's due. This week, while many people have remained silent, a handful of Dems have stood out there to make it known to Trump that they are not going to stand by and allow Trump's and his supporters hate to go unchecked and without a response. Too often, people are loud for a few days and then their voices die back and the person they object to just goes about his business with little to no confrontation. And in the case of this election, it is imperative that objecting voices stay heard--we (and by “we” I don’t include you—you sound like someone who bitches but doesn’t act to be constructive) who care need to keep the pressure on continually and need to inspire others to stay resolute and participate and make their voices heard.

If your hatred of Bernie and those who voted for him means not accepting any assistance they want to give over these next four years, then you're a waste of everyone’s time. And a person who wants Americans to suffer--and in that case, I hope you are miserable during Trump's reign.

Trump Has The Highest Unfavorable Rating Of Any President-Elect In The Last 24 Years

Trump has 10% favorable rating with Democrats, and a 39% favorable rating with Independents. Trump’s favorables were 15 points were than Bill Clinton’s, 31 points worse than Barack Obama’s. Even within his own party, Trump is the least popular president-elect in recent history. Less Than A Third Of Americans Want Trump To Follow Through On Campaign Proposals

While Donald Trump and many Republicans are trying to paint last week’s stunning election results as a mandate for Trump to carry out his frightening campaign agenda, most Americans are saying, “Not so fast.”

According to a new Washington Post/Schar School poll, just 29 percent of Americans think the results of the Nov. 8 presidential election give Trump a mandate to follow through on his plans, which would include proposals like the Muslim registry/ban, a deportation force, and building a border wall – all agenda items the Trump team is moving forward with as we speak.

It bugs me whenever Trump says something that his idiot followers and anyone in the press take as new and different. Like this idea, which I remember so clearly being said while I was watching TV years ago, that anyone in the Cabinet can't be a lobbyist for five years. Well, Bill Clinton came up with that idea and that is how things worked from during his administration from 1993 to 2000. Of course no one gives credit where credit's due.

President-Elect Donald Trump Gets to Work Betraying His Backers

...Trump is now part of a global ring of ethno-nationalist leaders of far-right parties in thrall to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. National security experts are shuddering at the demeanor of the people surrounding the next president who are busy mounting what Republican leakers are calling a “Stalinesque purge” of the insufficiently loyal. With the transition team in chaos, and experienced hands reluctant to join such an administration, who knows what kind of bizarre cabinet he’ll wind up assembling.

Amazon Battles Trolls Over Megyn Kelly Book

An online war is taking place over on the Amazon page for Megyn Kelly’s new book, with one-star reviews from Trumpkins popping up and being deleted with lightning speed.

The angry online male masses, seen recently mass-downvoting the trailer for Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters,” Phoebe Robinson’s podcast “So Many White Guys,” and many shows that feature women doing things other than supporting male characters, have turned their ire on a new target: Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.

Kelly’s new book, Settle For More, hit bookstores yesterday. In the book, Kelly goes into more detail about Donald Trump’s attempts to intimidate and threaten her after she brought to the forefront his history of misogyny during a primary debate. In an interview about the book with The New York Times, Kelly cites an uptick in the misogyny displayed during the 2016 campaign as a worrying sign of things to come for journalists. Kelly’s ongoing Trump critique ran afoul of many fans of Donald Trump. On Reddit’s The_Donald subforum—long a place for the aggrieved #MAGA nation to get its I Hate Megyn Kelly ya-ya’s out—users decided to take action, and engage in an organized effort to torpedo the book’s user-generated rankings.

And torpedo it they did, at least for a few hours.

I appreciate Kelly's points about the uptick in misogyny. But I just can't give her any real kudos. She's been making the rounds on TV and every time defending why she never came forward about how Trump was threatening her and how he and his followers (and he did encourage them--that's how he operates, by pretending not to be saying and doing things when he really is) were making her whole family feel unsafe. She keeps saying "I didn't want the story to be about me." That is her reason for not coming forward to warn all women that Trump indeed was dangerous and to also give the voices of Trump's victims some support. This was not some typical news situation where the journalist should stay in the background.

So, no way would I buy her book. She had a responsibility to society and failed as a journalist who could make the choice of coming forward under special circumstances and put her career aside for the good of all women in this country.

Trump PAC Spox Cites Japanese Internment Camps as Precedent for Muslim Registry

    http://www.politicususa.com/2016/11/17/trump-pac-america-great-citing-japanese-internment-camps-precedent.html

...A Trump PAC spokesman chillingly tried to use Japanese Internment camps as a precedent for Trump’s proposed Muslim registry Wednesday evening on The Kelly File.

In a Ted Talk, Takei said his father explained to him, “He told me that our democracy is a people’s democracy, and it can be as great as the people can be, but it is also as fallible as people are. He told me that American democracy is vitally dependent on good people who cherish the ideals of our system and actively engage in the process of making our democracy work.”

Takei’s father’s lesson is a must-memorize for your Trump survival guide, and especially relevant right now as people struggle with Donald Trump’s win and the outrageous insults to democracy buttressing many of his policies.

In a Ted Talk from June of 2014 titled “Why I love a country that once betrayed me”, Takei shared his story:

I worry about the 'type' of internment camps Trump would gather and put Muslims and others from throughout our country?

Americans, do purchase and read these two books and review our history as to our own internment camps that were put in place during WWII. Many of Americans were not, and are not, aware that they existed!

"The Train to Crystal City" - Jan Jarboe Russell and "Quiet Defiance: Alaska's Empty Chair" - Karleen Grummett.

FDR had secret prisoner exchange programs and America's only 'family' internment camp during WWII. It was located in Crystal City, TX at its very southern tip from 1942 to 1945. I'll even go so far as to bet the majority of Texans aren't even aware of their own history in this regard.

The trains to TX carried American born children and Japanese, German and Italian immigrants that were loyal to the US, never charged w/crimes who were forced to leave their homes and businesses!

I personally think Trump would treat Muslims and minorities far worse than did FDR. Far, far worse!

Warren wastes no time, getting right to the point, “The American people are watching to see if you were sincere in your campaign promises to look out for the interests of working families, rather than the interests of the rich and powerful. So much for Donald Trump’s “populist revolution.”

Trump’s victory has been spun again and again as a backlash against out-of-touch elites. Trump, the narrative goes, rode a populist wave by railing against corrupt financial and governmental institutions and arguing that only he—a man who had played the system to his own advantage—could drain the swamp.

But nine days after his unexpected victory, Trump—and the Republicans in control of Congress—have shown every sign that they plan on unleashing America’s financial institutions. Politico describes Trump’s expected cabinet as an “investment banker’s dream,” with either former Goldman Sachs partner Steven Mnuchin or JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as Treasury secretary, billionaire Wilbur Ross in Commerce, and former Goldman banker Steve Bannon helping to run the show in the West Wing.
