Colorado Congressman sneaks out back rather than face constituents angry about his support to repeal Obamacare.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Congressman Mike Coffman (R-CO) tweeted Friday that he was excited to return home to Colorado this weekend, but things didn’t go very well when he got there.

On Saturday, his open meeting to chat with constituents at the Aurora Central Library was overwhelmed by voters particularly concerned about the fate of their health care if the Affordable Care Act (ACA, also known as Obamacare) is repealed — a plan Coffman supports — without a replacement put in place. Rather than meet with most of them or even address them, he left the event via a back door and escaped in a waiting vehicle.

Gee taking away people's health care and then sneaking out the back.

Yep sounds like a Republican politician to me.

Raw Story has more on the incident here.

Whoops! Trump Promises 'Insurance For Everybody!'
UH OH. Donald's speaking in public again.

NEWS: Trump talks to WaPo, vows ‘insurance for everybody’ in Obamacare replacement plan https://t.co/DxtWtm1SkI
    — Robert Costa (@costareports) January 16, 2017

So what the HELL are Republicans going to do now? Fox News activate! As Heather describes the video above:

Fox's "medical A-team" member Dr. Marc Siegel tells American's Newsroom host Bill Hemmer that Trump should follow his HHS Secretary nominee Tom Price's plan to shift people covered under the ACA into high-risk pools and block grant Medicaid as a solution to make sure that everyone in the country has health insurance as Donald Trump promised.

Hey, the Republican Party was successful in getting their entire constituency to forget George W. Bush, maybe they can get them to...you know...just ignore what Trump is actually saying forever!

Scrub the record and go back to block granting Medicaid to the states!
Oh, and high deductible risk pools! That's it! Sell across state lines!

All the tired won't work "solutions" that are based on NOT covering everyone.

Donald just blew that boat right out of the water, but Reince Priebus insists Trump will keep all of his promises!

    So far he's promised:
    1. No pre-existing conditions
    2. Keep under 26 on parent's policies
3, Repeal and replace the same day maybe the same hour
    4. and EVERYBODY GETS INSURANCE.
    Oh, and
5, "at a fraction of the cost."
Sounds like single payer to me! Hooray! Get the bill ready, Mister Speaker!
And he hasn't been inaugurated yet.

  3. That PUTZ Joe Lieberman is supporting Betsy DeVos.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/joe-lieberman-betsy-devos_us_587cfa15e4b0e58057ffa361?section=us_politics

You want to complain about an independent claiming to be a Democrat. I give you Joe the traitor Lieberman. Anyone remember when he was extorting Obama over the ACA? He was just as obstructive as the Republicans. He should have been schooled then and there. But no, Obama had to make nice and compromise and give him whatever he wanted.

He should have been disciplined, not coddled.

He never should have been on Kerry's ticket since he only became a Democrat for that purpose. At heart, he's a Republican.

"When Donald Trump’s nominee for education secretary goes before a Senate committee on Tuesday, she’s expected to have a famous former senator make her case for confirmation. Only it won’t be a Republican ― it will be former Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, according to a transition source.

Trump’s nominee, the billionaire Betsy DeVos, has been one of the most prominent funders for “school choice,” which steers public funds toward charter and private schools. Lieberman, like plenty of centrist Democrats, was a booster for school choice and charter schools during his time on Capitol Hill.

The Washington Examiner first reported Monday that Lieberman, who was Al Gore’s presidential running mate in 2000, was slated to introduce DeVos at her hearing on Tuesday. "

"DeVos recently stepped down as chair of the American Federation for Children, a national school choice group her family has funded. As Haaretz recently noted, Lieberman currently sits on the group’s board."

Bernie Sanders NEVER claimed to be a Democrat.

So why don't you aim your vitriol at a true traitor; Joe Liberman.

Who needs ISIS when we have Comrade trump and the republicans to instill the fear of losing their health insurance in millions of Americans? Congress says one thing, trump another and I don’t believe any of them.

I personally sent emails to both my senators and congresswomen (all Democrats despite, MI turning red by 10,000 votes) and asked for clarification on the time line of all of this, since those coward republicans are talking out of both sides of their mouths.

I suggest that everyone do the same. No excuses that my representative is a republican and it won’t matter, it will matter that they are overwhelmed with negative feedback especially if they are coming up for re-election. We need to instill the same fear in them.

Her publisher, HarperCollins, later pulled the book, and Politico reported that Crowley had also lifted others’ writing for her 2000 dissertation at Columbia University.

O/T Springsteen Cover Band Cancels Appearance At NJ Inaugural Ball

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/b-street-band-cancels-inaugural-appearance

A desperate Donald Trump records a message on Facebook offering free inauguration tickets

Is Donald Trump’s inauguration crowd going to be bad or the worst in modern American history? He’s only been able to draw a handful of D.C.-area wedding DJs and a handful of county fair musical acts. A growing list of congressional representatives have pledged to boycott the event and a D.C. council member says they’ve only received 200 bus applications (versus 1,200 for the protest march the very next day.)

But, perhaps the most telling sign this is shaping up to be an embarrassing disaster for Team Trump is the fact that only six days out from the event, Donald himself took to Facebook to record a message begging offering free tickets to anyone who wanted to attend. If you make it through the ceremony, he’ll throw in a set of steak knives and you’ll be entered to win a complimentary trip for two to the luxurious Mar-A-Lago resort. (Okay, that last bit is not true, but it could be!) Watch below and read a sampling humorous responses to his plea. They are tremendous. The best. Bigly great. Feel free to add your own response in the comments.

  9. Income equality is going to be the undoing of the Trump dynasty.

Just look at the chart. Look at the North America. See the huge gap between poorest and richest for North America? That isn't just Mexico. There's plenty of U.S. in there too, under poorest 10%.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/income-inequality-oxfam_us_58792e6ee4b0b3c7a7b13616

"Just eight super-rich men hold the same amount of wealth as the poorest half of the world’s population, according to an analysis from the charity Oxfam released Sunday night.

Six of these billionaires, from Forbes’ list of the world’s richest people, are American entrepreneurs: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Berkshire Hathaway chairman and CEO Warren Buffett, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Rounding out the list are Carlos Slim, the Mexican tycoon, and Amancio Ortega, the Spanish founder of a retail conglomerate that includes clothing chain Zara. Together their net wealth ― assets minus debts ― amounts to $426 billion."

Now Buffett and Gates have recognized the damage of this disparity and are trying, in their own ways, to give back.

But there are plenty in the wealthy category that just continue to take. Donald Trump is their poster boy. Now he's going to be (an illegitimate) president. A MINORITY president since he was elected by a minority. And that minority will be steadily shrinking each day.

What is going to happen when we reach the breaking point? It is fast approaching. The BananaRepublican agenda is going to hit this income inequality very hard.

It won't just be peaceful protests any more.

"“Left unchecked, growing inequality threatens to pull our societies apart,” Oxfam writes in its report, citing Brexit, Trump’s campaign and “a worrying rise in racism and the widespread disillusionment with mainstream politics.”

In 2016, the richest 1 percent of the world held slightly more than half of the wealth of the entire planet, Oxfam notes. And the 1,810 billionaires on Forbes’s list ― 89 percent male ― hold $6.5 trillion, as much wealth as 70 percent of humanity.

Put another way, billions of people are fighting over crumbs from half of a pie, while the rich dig into fat slices all to themselves."

"If you ignore debt entirely, it would take 56 of the wealthiest individuals to equal the wealth of the bottom 50 percent, according to Oxfam’s report.

“The underlying trend is the same: At the very pinnacle of the economic pyramid, rich people are getting progressively and rapidly richer, while the rest of humanity is muddling along,” Kripke said. He called the wealth of the top eight individuals “biblical.”"

Springsteen Cover Band Cancels Appearance At NJ Inaugural Ball

The B-Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen cover group, has dropped a commitment to play at New Jersey’s inaugural gala in Washington this week, following public pressure.

"We felt that we had to make it known that we didn't want to seem disrespectful, in any way, shape or form, to Bruce and his music and his band," band leader Will Forte told Rolling Stone in an interview published Monday.

Though the group had previously maintained that it would play the gala, scheduled the night before Trump’s inauguration, public outcry and misleading coverage forced their hand, Forte said.

"There were misleading headlines like, 'Trump Hires B-Street Band,'" he told the publication, noting that the band had signed a contract to play the Garden State Presidential Inaugural Gala back in 2013, and had performed at the event for both of President Obama’s inaugurations.

Trump Opens His Mouth And Screws Over Republicans On Obamacare Repeal

...Donald Trump’s mouth has written a check that Republicans in Congress can’t cash. Republicans have no intention of maintaining insurance for all of the ACA plan holders. In fact, privately, Republicans admit that millions of people are going to lose their coverage under the replacement.

The Spy Who Wrote the Trump-Russia Memos: It Was "Hair-Raising" Stuff

...The former spy told me that he had been retained in early June by a private research firm in the United States to look into Trump's activity in Europe and Russia. "It started off as a fairly general inquiry," he recalled. One question for him, he said, was, "Are there business ties in Russia?" The American firm was conducting a Trump opposition research project that was first financed by a Republican source until the funding switched to a Democratic one. The former spy said he was never told the identity of the client.

The former intelligence official went to work and contacted his network of sources in Russia and elsewhere. He soon received what he called "hair-raising" information. His sources told him, he said, that Trump had been "sexually compromised" by Russian intelligence in 2013 (when Trump was in Moscow for the Miss Universe contest) or earlier and that there was an "established exchange of information between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin of mutual benefit." He noted he was "shocked" by these allegations. By the end of June, he was sending reports of what he was finding to the American firm.

The former spy said he soon decided the information he was receiving was "sufficiently serious" for him to forward it to contacts he had at the FBI. He did this, he said, without permission from the American firm that had hired him. "This was an extraordinary situation," he remarked.

The response to the information from the FBI, he recalled, was "shock and horror." After a few weeks, the bureau asked him for information on his sources and their reliability and on how he had obtained his reports. He was also asked to continue to send copies of his subsequent reports to the bureau. These reports were not written, he noted, as finished work products; they were updates on what he was learning from his various sources. But he said, "My track record as a professional is second to no one."
