Senator Chuck Schumer tears up over Donald Trump's Muslim ban. Trump mocks him for it.

Seems heartfelt to me.

However I actually have a heart.

Trump did not see it that way.
Courtesy of Fox News:

President Trump launched into a fiery defense of his controversial refugee and immigration restrictions Monday, blaming protesters and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer’s ‘fake tears’ for difficulties at U.S. airports, and urging his opponents to “study the world!”

Yeah that's right. THEY'RE the ones who need to study more.

Trump also took to Twitter, of course, to mock Senator Schumer.
So Chuck Schumer's tears caused "big problems" for Delta Airlines?

Those are some powerful tears.

But what can you expect from Donald Trump?

Malignant Narcissists simply do not have empathy.

Which means that there is no way that any other person's suffering is going to mean anything to Trump.

So we have gone from a President who seemed to feel everything, to a president who feels nothing.

This is going to get a whole lot worse before he is impeached. He's a monster child. And then we end up with a dominionist ... Pence.
The evangelical peawits will think it's great.

  2. Schumer's great-grandmother and seven of her nine children died in Nazi concentration camps. He probably didn't need an acting coach to dip into that well of inner sorrow.

    1. Anonymous11:34 AM

And, Trump's comment about Schumer's tears were unbelievable. May Trump rot in Hell soon!!

    2. Anonymous1:49 PM

I have no idea how his family can, in good conscience, support his insanity. How do they live with themselves; how do they face their children and try to rationalize it?

Unfortunately - Trump is missing a key component - compassion.
I can't remember if I posted my thought here or somewhere else about my gratitude that experts in the mental health field are coming out more forcefully to explain Trump's sickness. And - yes it is a sickness which we are all seeing on a daily basis.

Why capitalize autism? Trump does not suffer from it. Unlike autistics, Trump can and does take advantage of the emotions of his followers. Autistics also aren't big liars, they'll tell you the truth even if it makes them the most unpopular person in the room.

  4. Anonymous8:53 AM

Trump is a fucking asshole and is the very WORST person to be in the White House! He does not represent the majority of Americans and will never make it through a four-year term.

Donald Trump Has Chosen His SCOTUS Nominee, Please Shut Up About Immigrants Now, Please

Not that we’d ever accuse the Trump administration of being a bunch of cynical manipulators of the news cycle for their own ends — we’d state it as an objective fact, not an accusation — but you’ll be glad to know President Bannon has moved up by two days the naming of “President Trump’s” pick to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

The Hairbeeste took a brief pause from yelling at the media on Twitter to let us all know he’d be making the announcement during Prime Time Tuesday:

Trump held a breakfast meeting — so he wouldn’t have to eat all alone again — with small business people in the Oval Office, during which he also hinted at who “his” choice for Supreme Court would be, saying “he’d” chosen “a person who is unbelievably highly respected”:

....... But let’s also not be fooled about the timing of this very important announcement — it’s all about taking the heat off the immigration executive order and Trump’s elevation of Steve Bannon to National Security consigliere. Just as he did during the campaign, Trump’s throwing shit in nine directions at once so it’ll be difficult to focus on any single one of them........

    1. Anonymous10:45 AM

Senate Dems will filibuster Trump’s Supreme Court nominee

    2. Anonymous5:56 PM

So we beat him at his own silly game. Made calls on three distinct topics (education and Sessions as AG and impeachment) to my three congresscritters today. Felt real y good about it, too. Who else has done so? three a day is my challENge to each of you. (Sorry if this decreases your traffic a bit here, Gryphen. I'm guessing you'll approve though - country first!)

  12. Anonymous9:41 AM

OK folks we just learned how trump is going to handle a crisis: with a twitter temper tantrum full of lies, insults, derogatory comments, blame everyone/everything including computers but himself.

But remember we aren't suppose to listen to what trump says, we are suppose to listen to his heart.

If we're lucky they may actually lock him up in a padded room - with TV's he can't turn off that show people pointing out of the screen and laughing hysterically, making it seem as though they are laughing AT him.

      Poor baby.

How about studying the facts trump:
How many terror attacks have refugees carried out in the United States?

(CNN) — Donald Trump first introduced the idea of a Muslim travel ban in December 2015, shortly after Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, shot and killed 14 people in San Bernardino, California......

....In fact, the primary perpetrators of the major terror attacks have mostly been US-born citizens or permanent legal residents originally from countries not included in the ban.......
    San Bernardino attacks
Although San Bernardino inspired Trump’s travel ban, neither of the shooters would have been affected by it.
Farook, 28, was an American citizen born in Chicago. Malik, 29, was born and raised in Pakistan, and later lived in Saudi Arabia. She arrived in the United States on a K-1 fiancée visa and later became a permanent resident.
Trump’s executive order bans travel from seven countries — Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Iraq and Iran — but it does not ban travel from residents of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. In addition, the K-1 fiancee program remains in place.

New York and New Jersey explosions
Ahmad Khan Rahimi faces an array of bombing, weapons and attempted murder charges in two on September 17, 2016, incidents. He is accused of detonating bombs in New Jersey and in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. The explosion in Chelsea injured 29 people.
Rahimi was born in Afghanistan and first came to the United States in 1995, following several years after his father arrived seeking asylum. Rahimi became a naturalized US citizen in 2011. He had recently spent time in Afghanistan and Pakistan, officials said.
Neither Afghanistan nor Pakistan is on Trump’s list of banned countries.

    Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting
Omar Mateen, the man who shot and killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, was an American citizen living in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born in New York, and his parents were from Afghanistan.
His widow, Noor Salman, was arrested earlier this month on charges of obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting her husband’s material support to ISIS. She grew up in Rodeo, California, and her parents immigrated to the United States from the West Bank in 1985, according to The New York Times.
Neither Afghanistan nor the West Bank is included on the list of banned countries.

    Boston Marathon bombings
Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who carried out the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, were born in Kyrgyzstan to parents originally from war-torn Chechnya.
The Tsarnaev family arrived in the United States when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was 8 years old, and they applied for and were granted political asylum. The process for applying for political asylum is different from the process of arriving as a refugee.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the younger brother, became a naturalized citizen in September 2012.
Chechnya and Kyrgyzstan are not included on the list of banned countries
World Trade Center, September 11, 2001
Of the 19 people who hijacked four planes on September 11, 2001, 15 of them hailed from Saudi Arabia. Two were from the United Arab Emirates, one was from Egypt, and one was from Lebanon.
None of those countries is included on the list of banned countries.

How Many Terrorist Attacks in the U.S. Have Been Carried Out by Immigrants from the 7 Banned Muslim Countries?

Here’s a look back at the major terrorist attacks that have taken place on U.S. soil since 9/11, including the nationalities of the perpetrator, or perpetrators.........

Of this list, zero fatal attacks were carried out by immigrants from the seven Muslim-majority countries targeted by the ban. Two attacks were carried out by individuals with ties to the seven countries: the 2006 UNC SUV attack, and the 2016 Ohio State University attack. Neither of those plots resulted in American deaths.

‘You assh*le’: Internet stunned as Spicer says Trump ‘went out of his way’ to recognize Holocaust

...President Donald Trump’s statement on Holocaust Memorial Day last week drew heavy fire from critics — including the Republican Jewish Coalition — because it failed to specifically mention the suffering of Jews under Nazi Germany.

Instead of apologizing for the oversight, however, the White House has doubled down and claimed that the statement didn’t make any mention of Jews because millions of other people died at the Nazis’ hands, not only Jews.

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer defended the administration’s statement, and slammed critics for “nitpicking” it.

“The president went out of his way to recognize the Holocaust,” a frustrated Spicer said.

...The reaction to Spicer’s latest defense of the administration’s Holocaust statement was swift and fierce, and Jewish conservatives such as John Podhoretz found themselves profanely lashing out at the White House press secretary.

    2. Anonymous12:15 PM

The Holocaust announcement is done annually. It was not some unusual, special, Trump-only event. The nincompoops could have used last year's announcement with a date change and a signature change, but no, they had to put the white supremacist's stamp of approval on it.
Why does that not surprise me?

  24. Anonymous10:42 AM

Not to worry, Gryphen. There's some evidence that Drumpf ('not my president') has had enough and is already arranging for President Obama to take the helm again. At least that's what says.

Muslim advocacy group files challenge to Trump immigration order

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the country’s largest Muslim civil rights group, filed a lawsuit on Monday challenging the constitutionality of President Donald Trump’s executive order temporarily banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on behalf of more than 20 people, contends that the president’s order violates the First Amendment’s religious freedom protections. The executive order’s “apparent and true purpose and underlying motive,” the lawsuit charges, is to bar Muslims from certain nations from the country.....

Obama supports protests: 'American values are at stake'

Former President Barack Obama’s office released a statement Monday supporting the protests going on around the country, and speaking out against discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion, saying “American values are at stake.”

Kevin Lewis, spokesman for Obama in his post-presidency, said that Obama — who has been threading the balance between the tradition of presidents deferring to their successors and coming out against President Donald Trump on specific issues he considered core values — “is heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country.”

their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake,” Lewis said.

Lewis highlighted Obama’s past comments against a Muslim ban, but spoke about Trump’s executive order only indirectly.

“With regard to comparisons to President Obama’s foreign policy decisions, as we’ve heard before, the president fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion,” Lewis said

I wrote a letter to President Obama to thank him, Vice President Biden, and their families for all that they've done for the country during their tenure in office. Today I received my reply. It will become a family treasure.

We have lost so much in just over a week. The country is in chaos. No one in the Trump administration has a clue about the Constitution or about how the federal government should work. The inauguration that so many of us tried to ignore gave us a coup d'etat that this country will be reeling from years from now. GOP Congressional leaders need to wake up from their stupor and help restore our system of government. Now.

    The Inevitability Of Impeachment
    After just one week.

Trump has been trying to govern by impulse, on whim, for personal retribution, for profit, by decree ― as if he had been elected dictator. It doesn’t work, and the wheels are coming off the bus. After a week!

Impeachment is gaining ground because it is the only way to get him out, and because Republicans are already deserting this president in droves, and because the man is psychiatrically incapable of checking whether something is legal before he does it.

Impeachment is gaining ground because it’s so horribly clear that Trump is unfit for office. The grownups around Trump, even the most slavishly loyal ones, spend half their time trying to rein him in, but it can’t be done.

...One by one, Trump has decreed impulsive orders, un-vetted by legal, policy, or political staff, much less by serious planning. Almost immediately he is forced to walk them back by a combination of political and legal pressure—and by reality.

Unlike in the various dictatorships Trump admires, the complex skein of constitutional legal and political checks on tyranny in the United States are holding—just barely at times, but they are holding. And the more reckless Trump’s behavior, the stronger become the checks.

Do we even have enough legislators to form all the investigative committees?

“Finally, I want to highlight a story that many people haven’t noticed. On Wednesday, Reuters reported (in great detail) how 19.5% of Rosneft, Russia’s state oil company, has been sold to parties unknown. This was done through a dizzying array of shell companies, so that the most that can be said with certainty now is that the money “paying” for it was originally loaned out to the shell layers by VTB (the government’s official bank), even though it’s highly unclear who, if anyone, would be paying that loan back; and the recipients have been traced as far as some Cayman Islands shell companies.

Why is this interesting? Because the much-maligned Steele Dossier (the one with the golden showers in it) included the statement that Putin had offered Trump 19% of Rosneft if he became president and removed sanctions. The reason this is so interesting is that the dossier said this in July, and the sale didn’t happen until early December. And 19.5% sounds an awful lot like “19% plus a brokerage commission.”
