Canada's Prime Minister under pressure as more and more immigrants from America stream across border seeking asylum.

Courtesy of The Guardian:

Justin Trudeau, Canada’s prime minister, is facing growing political pressure to address the steady stream of asylum seekers who have been braving freezing temperatures, fields of waist-deep snow and icy ditches to cross into Canada from the US by foot.

Recent months have seen a growing number of people entering Canada at remote, unguarded locations along the US border. Doing so allows the migrants – many of whom are desperate to flee Trump’s crackdown on immigration – to skirt a longstanding pact that bars most refugee claimants in the US from applying for asylum in Canada.

Advocates in Manitoba say they know of some 139 refugees – including children – who have made the perilous crossing since the start of the year, while groups in Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario also report a rise in irregular crossings.

Some haul suitcases for hours across frozen fields that straddle the border, while others are dropped by taxis metres away from the Quebec border. The asylum seekers – many of whom are from Somalia, Ghana and Djibouti – say their actions are driven by fears of what a Donald Trump presidency could mean for refugees in the US.

Amazing. In just four short weeks Donald Trump has changed America from a place that immigrants will travel vast distances to enter, to a place they will travel vast distances to escape.

Why do I get the feeling that this story will make him exceedingly pleased with himself?

I am skeptical about this young good looking man from Canada. A new tower from the trump boys and friends in Canada, thousands of new usa immigrants, rubbing elbows in DC with the swampers and riggers. hmmmmm I don't know? And trying so hard not to shake hands with the devil. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is not all that it is cracked up to be.

The side story here is that the border between the US and Canada is apparently not secure. Anyone can walk back in forth between North Dakota and Canada-although July might be a better time to do this. With all of this (untrue) hysteria that we supposedly can't vet our refugees don't people think about that fact that we definitely can't vet Canada's? If the evil terrorist can pose as a refugee and enter the United States they could just as easily become a Canadian refugee and then walk into the United States. If I am smart enough to think of this than a terrorist mastermind definitely is! People who actually think that Trump's proposed travel ban actually makes us safer think very simply. But then again they are Trump supporters....

To all idiot Trump voters ....

Do you know what defeats a 20 billion dollar wall? A ten dollar rope ladder.

After spending millions on deporting "brown" people, how long will it take for them to come back? Most will return within weeks. Then more millions will be spent re-deporting. Is this where you want your tax dollars spent?

Billions of YOUR MONEY for a wall and hundreds of millions of YOUR MONEY spent deporting ... and in the end you get nothing.

Keep voting for con men like Trump and don't forget to blindly chant "Mexico will pay for it". You are a fool.

Anyone else have total disdain for idiot Trump voters?

    1. They are idiotus maximus x 62 million! They need to remember (or read about) what happened here in Georgia about 6-7 years ago when the GOP-majority general assembly and GOP governor outlawed immigrants. The fields were full of rotting crops. Georgia's GOP did it to please their racist voters and bosses, but the damage was self-inflicted.

Trump, CBP & ICE don't have the manpower to deport millions, but they will bankrupt this country trying. What sense does it make to deport people who are law abiding, tax paying, hard working people who make positive contributions to society? They are more helpful and productive than Bannon, Miller, David Dukes, or Donald Trump! Let them stay and deport Trump and his racist, antisemitic, misogynistic cabal! They are full of hate!

I am heading to Canada shortly to begin exploring the option to be an expat there. I have two teen sons - and this momma didn't raise no cannon fodder for T.Rumps foolishness.

    1. Check out Panama. They have a large English speaking expat community, the electricity is the same so you can bring all of your electronics and appliances and their currency is the U.S. dollar.

    1. LOL. I was just thinking that.

Like does this mean Trump will build a wall along the Canadian border too? Only of course, he's more than happy to have people leave.

It's only a matter of time before U.S. Citizens start to migrate to Canada.

OT? Cannbis rights>"couples who both used marijuana frequently — compared to one spouse using it more than the other — were at the LOWest risk for subsequent partner violence."

I don't have any personal information on my Facebook page beyond my name but once in a while I'm tempted to fill in the 'In a relationship with' part.... with Justin Trudeau's name.
