Donald Trump just announced he will not be attending the White House Correspondents Dinner.

What a fucking coward.

Here he is abusing the press, essentially declaring war on them, and then he does not even have the balls to face them over a dinner steeped in tradition.

Well on the plus side I guess this means that the other attendees might actually be able to have a good time.

Wholeheartedly endorse the idea above of inviting Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey. Also should have Melissa McCarthy as Spicer, and Rosie O'Donnell as Bannon. Heck, any of the SNL cast who has portrayed any president, candidate, or political laughingstock figure should show up in character and just GO TO TOWN. Maybe we could at least gain a little good regard back from the rest of the world if we just mocked the hell out of the current "administration".

I loved seeing the news post blurbs and pics of BO and Malia yesterday. And of course there was a cheering crowd in the street. Drumpf was so PO'd, you know it. And he hasn't been back to NYC since inauguration. I thought he might go today and that he was lying low by sleeping at the WH last night and maybe he's sneak off to T Tower to see his kid and be back in that gaudy place he calls home. I looked for news on his planned whereabouts yesterday and there was nothing on his schedule after a 3PM mtg with the pres of Peru. I thought at one point that he might sneak off Fri. night but heard--can't recall exactly--that he'd be staying in DC ahead of that speech he has to make this week to congress. Still, it was weird when there was otherwise total silence about his weekend plan and if he'd be seeing Melania or golfing or anything. Maybe he has actually sneaked off.

Panicking over Russia scandal, Donald Trump cancels on White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Russia scandal closes in on Donald Trump

...And as a result of his ongoing attacks, the media is now every bit as much at war with Trump. Bloomberg recently announced that it’s canceling its White House Correspondents’ Dinner afterparty, while CNN is now considering skipping the dinner itself. The event has always represented a moment of fun and games between the president and the media, and yet in the midst of the Russia scandal and Trump’s war on the media, there can be no fun and games. But Trump’s timing is particularly suspect.

The 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner isn’t set to take place until April 29th. That’s more than two months from now. Donald Trump still had plenty of time to see which way the wind ends up blowing with his Russia scandal before officially announcing that he’ll sit it out. So did he post this tweet today so that he could be the one to back out, before any more news outlets can announce they’re backing out because of him? Or was this just another desperate attempt at distracting the media from his Russia scandal for a day? It doesn’t seem to be working.

‘Sort of snowflake-y to me’: CNN panel jabs Trump for being afraid to face WH Correspondents’ Dinner

...“This is a data point in a larger trend,” said anchor Brianna Keilar. “There is this big divide in that the press is being demonized by Pres. Trump in ways, but he’s being dishonest himself about some things.”

“Republicans always criticize the media,” said New York Times TV critic Bill Carter, author of The War for Late Night. “This has reached a point where it’s over the top, actually. Any story that’s critical of him now becomes ‘fake.'”

“And I think the fact that he’s bowing out of this dinner,” Carter continued, “it has a little bit of the quality of ‘You can’t fire me, I quit.’ because a lot of people are dropping out of this dinner.”

...Obama, Carter said, “has been brilliant at these dinners.” Trump would have received criticism for failing to measure up. Also, the WHCD crowd is “not his crowd,” Carter said. “He likes to have paid applauders.”

“The whole thing would have been fraught for him,” Carter said. “And I know there’s been a lot of criticism of Democrats for being ‘snowflakes,’ but it’s sort of snowflake-y to me, to back out of this.”

So Brianna Kellar, whoever she is, thinks Trump is "dishonest himself about some things"! So far, he has not been honest about anything. In fact, only weeks into his presidency and no one has any idea what to believe or not believe from what issues forth from the White House. Brianna has been living in some kind of la-la land.

And what is a "snowflake" anyway. We have lots of them in our front yard right now. They arrived a few days ago and, depending on the weather in the next week or two, could stay around for weeks or disappear in a few days. It's an expression that seems new to me and I wonder where it came from.

And where is the First Lady? When is she going to start her anti bullying agenda? Since she is married to a bully she ought to know all about it.

She is no example for women, she has a husband who ignores her and ignores her son Barron. She let's herself be used like a trinket to feed his ego. No real couple could live this way.

His daughter Ivanka has taken the all her glory while she seems to be an afterthought. This is not a couple. Trump relies on his daughter to fulfill the duties that Melania should be doing. Is he embarrassed that she barely knows english after being here 20 years? Is he embarrased by Barron who is obviously "special"? You would think with all the pressure that being President is he would want his wife to be there. He has chosen his daughter instead. What a slap in the face for Melania.

First, all of the media can come, but if I were the WHCA I would bar Breitbart and Fox News from the dinner, along with any other "fake news" organization. That is the first step toward fighting fake news; you don't normalize it.

Next, they should get the best master of ceremonies they can and give him carte Blanche. I'd love to see Samantha Bee do it.

Then, with the absence of the White House, invite SNL in. Alec Baldwin as Trump, Melissa McCarthy as Spicer and a few of the other members to basically sit in as the missing chickenshit cowards.

Now that Trump and presumably all of his staff, are boycotting the event, the WHCA and all of the outlets are now free to really let loose and give it to Trump in a way they wouldn't be able to were he present.

Like I said, have Alec do his Trump, Melissa do her Sean, Kate do her Kellyanus. It's a shame Colbert's "Melanie" is out on maternity leave as it would be perfect for her to show up on Alec's arm. Let the entire SNL crew do speeches.

It would then become the best dinner EVER in the history of the event.

No, fox and ol brietbart should be required to be front and center. Allow the real news outlets and journalist to deliver and remind them what real journalism is. Brainwashing or low info does not get it in real world.

  60. What a shame...we won't be hearing as many of the top ten conservative jokes like, "A pregnant woman was heading to the hospital to have her baby, in a PRIUS...but it ran out of power and she died."

  61. What would really burn his cookies is if they invited Hillary to be the guest of honor and referred to her as the ALTpresident. Treat her as if she won.

    Man, Trump would be livid.

Hillary has a sense of humor and can take a joke.

They should hold is as usual with Hillary as the focus.

    Invite Barack and Michelle too.

Basically treat Trump as the classroom bully everyone hates and never invites to any of the cool parties.

And of course, the entire night would be jokes aimed at Orange Julius Caesar who can't even suck it up enough to attend this one night.

There are just so many ways this can be a WIN for the media at Trump's expense.

Since he chose not to attend, I hope we will be spared any of his moronic tweets about it.

With any luck, he will be too busy with impeachment hearings in April.
