GOP consultant: "The days of pretending that this isn't serious are over."

Well that is all good advice.

And not surprising that it is coming from a Republican either.

From what I hear there are a whole lot more of these Republicans who are simply over Donald Trump and trying to either find some way to make distance between them, dig a moat around their party so that his shit does not splatter on them, or actively thinking about ways to remove him from office before he leaves a smoking black hole where the country used to be.

I used to dismiss any idea of Trump being impeached as an impossibility.

I am no longer doing that.

    Is This Watergate?

President Trump’s showdown with the federal judiciary feels awfully familiar.
Quite early in the Trump presidency, people asked me, Is this like Watergate? The question came mainly from people who weren’t around at the time. My answer was either, No or Not yet.

Well, the situation just changed, and moved significantly toward what was at the heart of Watergate. Donald Trump’s immediate reaction to the ruling Friday night by a federal judge in Washington state ordering a hold on his immigration plan might have been the prelude to a constitutional collision between the president and the judiciary. It was just such a showdown that led to the end of Richard Nixon’s presidency.......

Their problem is the deplorable demographic, i.e., the racist, sexist, small-minded bigots who are in hog heaven to have a fellow deplorable in the White House. They do not want a more-or-less sane GOP Prez -- look how resoundingly they rejected Kasich -- they want their savior, Dirty Donny. If the deplorable demographic turns on the GOP, there won't be enough GOP voters left to elect a dog catcher.

Sorry donnie, I didn’t read it isn’t a defense even on TV court.

Bannon and Ryan are becoming good buddies, what are they plotting besides tax cuts for the rich?
    =================================================

Dangerous incompetence: Trump did not know the EO he signed put Bannon on National Security Council

....But for the moment, Mr. Bannon remains the president’s dominant adviser, despite Mr. Trump’s anger that he was not fully briefed on details of the executive order he signed giving his chief strategist a seat on the National Security Council, a greater source of frustration to the president than the fallout from the travel ban.

Emphasis added. Donald Trump signed an executive order removing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the National Intelligence Director from the principals committee of the National Security Staff and added Steve Bannon, the former editor of Brietbart, in an executive order he never even read. He apparently did not know the details until the media began to cover it. Friends, that is dereliction of duty.

The NYT also noted how cozy House Speaker Paul Ryan and Steve Bannon have become:

Mr. Bannon, whose website, Breitbart, was a magnet for white nationalists and xenophobic speech, has also tried to reassure official Washington. He has been careful to build bridges with the Republican establishment, especially Mr. Ryan — whom he once described as “the enemy” and vowed to force out. He now talks regularly with Mr. Ryan to coordinate strategy or plot their planned overhaul of the tax code.

And now we have confirmation that House Speaker Paul Ryan is capable of putting up with misogyny, racism, bigotry, xenophobia, the whole kit and kaboodle. As long as the end game is tax cuts for the wealthy, what’s a little racism and xenophobia between friends?

The Royal Jordanian airline is celebrating Donald Trump’s recent humiliation in style. Since a federal judge recently lifted The Donald’s travel ban, Royal Jordanian wants to make sure as many people visit the United States as possible.

“Royal Jordanian received new instructions from the US Customs and Border Protection to temporarily halt ban on travel of seven previously-barred nationals to enter the USA. The countries are: Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Iran and Somalia,” the airline said on its website, noting that as always, travelers need a valid visa or Green Card.

To celebrate Trump’s despair, Royal Jordanian is slashing prices while the ban is lifted. On Sunday, they tweeted an ad featuring the word “Ban” with the “a” converted to an “o” and the word “Voyage” written in. “Fly to the US with RJ now that you’re allowed to,” it reads, with heavily slashed prices to Chicago, Detroit, and Trump’s home state of New York.

Trump Accuses 'Obama People' Of Leaking Details Of His Calls With Leaders

President Donald Trump accused "Obama people" of leaking less-than-favorable details about his tense phone calls with Australian and Mexican leaders, calling the leakers "disgraceful" in an interview with Fox News published Monday.

Trump accused holdovers from former President Barack Obama's administration of sharing the information with reporters, telling Fox's Judith Miller that he is working hard to replace them with his own picks.

“It’s a disgrace that they leaked because it’s very much against our country,” Trump told Miller. “It’s a very dangerous thing for this country."

Trump did not indicate why he believed the leaks came from Obama administration holdovers.

The President denied reports about the calls, telling Miller that the tone was mischaracterized and that in fact he had "positive" calls with foreign leaders.

Republicans are inventing delusional lies about ‘paid’ protests erupting across the US — and it will backfire

...A reasonable Republican surveying all this might be convinced of the need to proceed with caution on a number of political fronts, like dismantling the Affordable Care Act, reproductive rights or immigration. Tea Party Congressman David Brat isn’t going that route. He’s dismissing it all as a liberal conspiracy.

During an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch Monday, Brat was asked about the voter backlash in his district against repealing the Affordable Care Act. He said, “There’s paid protestors, paid activists on the far left…They’re being paid to go around and raise havoc.”

This is far from a fringe view. It is an article of faith among many Republicans and conservative commentators that those speaking out against elements of Trump’s agenda are not concerned constituents but outside agitators with dubious funding sources. On Monday, Trump lapdog Sean Hannity asked on Twitter, “Who is bankrolling the protests taking place at airports across the country?”

Trump’s Supreme Court pick touted volunteer work at Harvard — but ex-students don’t remember him

Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch claimed that he volunteered for the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project and the Harvard Defenders, but fellow students don’t remember it that way.

During Trump’s nomination speech, he explained that Gorsuch had “demonstrated a commitment to helping the less fortunate,” but the Wall Street Journal reported “roughly three dozen students who participated in the two programs while Mr. Gorsuch was at Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991 said they have no recollection of his involvement.”

There were two people who oversaw students doing the work for these organizations during this period. Both said they had no memory of Judge Gorsuch’s involvement. Another declined to answer when asked and classmates and friends admit that they have no recollection of him even discussing the program.

The White House did provide the Wall Street Journal with the name of one Harvard Law School graduate who said would corroborate the involvement, however. New York County prosecutor Chris Edel said he attended a few weeks of a training that the Defenders program did along with Gorsuch in either 1990 or 1991. The two lived together while in school and were members of a social club called the Lincoln’s Inn Society.

“What I am prepared to do is corroborate that Neil Gorsuch was in the Harvard Defenders,” Edel told WSJ. “I have a specific recollection of talking to him about one case, but I don’t want to go into the details…I’d like to leave it there.”

Edel also mentioned another classmate, David E. Nahmias, but when contacted he couldn’t confirm that Gorsuch was involved either.

A 2006 Senate questionnaire for judicial appointees revealed Gorsuch answered an inquiry about “serving the disadvantaged” with a claim he did pro bono work beginning in law school. He claimed he helped Massachusetts inmates “with respect to, among other things, hearings on disciplinary actions taken against them” and represented “defendants in criminal proceedings in Massachusetts state courts.”

The questionnaire then asked for specific instances of the amount of time devoted to each,” but Gorsuch did not answer.

The “Morning Joe” host said Trump’s repeated refusal to condemn Vladimir Putin’s brutal actions toward his critics and rivals must be considered approval.

“If Donald Trump keeps being asked to criticize Vladimir Putin for assassinating journalists, and Donald Trump refuses to criticize Vladimir Putin for assassinating journalists, and say, well, we do it, too, in a sense, does that suggest that he thinks that it’s OK to assassinate journalists?” Scarborough said. “Does that suggest that it’s OK to jail political opponents, to assassinate political opponents?”

Conway Cited Non-Existent 'Bowling Green Massacre' More Than Once

.... Though Cosmopolitan never used the senior White House adviser’s claims in two published stories, the magazine reported Monday, Conway referenced a “Bowling Green massacre” over the phone with a Cosmopolitan journalist days before being called on the same error in a television interview.......

.... Conway also told Cosmopolitan that former President Barack Obama had temporarily banned Iraqi refugees. (In fact, Obama merely slowed the process of vetting refugees, but never halted or “banned” it.)

"He did, it’s a fact," Conway said on Sunday, Jan. 29, as quoted by Cosmopolitan. "Why did he do that? He did that for exactly the same reasons. He did that because two Iraqi nationals came to this country, joined ISIS, traveled back to the Middle East to get trained and refine their terrorism skills, and come back here, and were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre of taking innocent soldiers' lives away."

Well, if law enforcement would do law enforcement on bundy's, trayvon's killer, other countless real bad hombres maybe some would not think, "I could get away with it" mentality. Or think "punishment won't be so bad".
Idk, it is all illogical, so my post may be all illogical as well.

Joy Behar: ‘Dictator’ Trump can’t stand SNL making fun of him — a sign of his poor mental health

....Behar said that she found it disturbing that Trump doesn’t seem to have a sense of humor about himself, as he regularly lashes out at comedy shows that make fun of him.

“Having a sense of humor about yourself is a sign of mental health,” she said. “And I don’t see this guy laughing. I’ve never seen him laugh. He smiles, now and then, when he says something he thinks is great, but he doesn’t laugh, and I find that bizarre.”

I love watching "The View" every weekday with Whoopi and Joy. Both have great humor but are always spot on w/their commentary.

Remember how they kept saying "The View" would go off the air? They've been on over twenty years now and have an outstanding viewership.

Joy is a hoot and maintains a sense of humor no matter what is going on w/the 'asshole' Donald!

Interesting that Spicer uses the word “SAD”, something that donnie does all the time.

Doesn’t anyone in the WH have a thesaurus or are they all working at a 4th grade level?

  36. George Takei tweeted a strategy he calls the DeVos compact or something like that.

You contact your Congresspeople and tell them if they vote for DeVos, you will donate money to their opponent in the next election and you will vote for whoever their opponent is.

This is what we need to do for every Cabinet vote, every bill, every executive order, everything.

Let them know you're taking names. You've got a little list and there will be consequences if they go against the will of the people. When the majority of the calls are against their planned votes and positions, they'll learn to be more afraid of the PEOPLE than they will of the GOP.

But it only works if we follow through and get out the vote in 2018 and show them we mean business and if they cross us, they are OUT.
