Intelligence agencies in THIS country are not the only ones monitoring communications between Trump advisers and the Russians.

Okay let me get this straight, EVERYBODY'S spying on me?
Courtesy of Newsweek:

As part of intelligence operations being conducted against the United States for the last seven months, at least one Western European ally intercepted a series of communications before the inauguration between advisers associated with President Donald Trump and Russian government officials, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The sources said the interceptions include at least one contact between former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and a Russian official based in the United States. It could not be confirmed whether this involved the telephone call with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that has led to Flynn’s resignation, or additional communications. The sources said the intercepted communications are not just limited to telephone calls: The foreign agency is also gathering electronic and human source information on Trump’s overseas business partners, at least some of whom the intelligence services now consider to be agents of their respective governments. These operations are being conducted out of concerns that Russia is seeking to manipulate its relationships with Trump administration officials as part of a long-term plan to destabilize the NATO alliance.

Moreover, a Baltic nation is gathering intelligence on officials in the Trump White House and executives with the president’s company, the Trump Organization, out of concern that an American policy shift toward Russia could endanger its sovereignty, according to a third person with direct ties to that nation’s government.

This is what Trump and his supporters fail to understand.

What is happening here is terrifying, not just the liberals and anti-Trump folks, but the ENTIRE world.

So while Trump attacks the media and intelligence agency leakers in this country....

.....he seems unable to fathom that there is still more information coming from other countries who fear that his presidency puts THEM in jeopardy as well.

Here is what one CIA veteran told Vox about Donald Trump:

We are facing the gravest threat to our institutions and our government since 1861, since the country broke in half. This is a graver crisis than Watergate, which was about corruption, not the usurpation of our laws and our checks and balances. It's graver than World War II, when Hitler never actually threatened our institutions or occupation of Washington.

So this goes back to 1861. It's a huge societal and institutional crisis. We're dealing with a man in Trump who doesn't accept a fact-based reality, who only acts for his own self-aggrandizement, and who views any action that does not serve him as a threat that must be destroyed. And, on top of that, his team appears to have been colluding with Russian intelligence services.

This is a massive crisis for our norms and our Constitution, and we have to say so.

Well I think that pretty much says it all.

--Donald Trump’s White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rick Dearborn implicated in Russia scandal

Yet another of Trump’s key people gets sucked into his Russia scandal

--Six Donald Trump staffers fired today, escorted out of White House, after flagged by FBI

FBI comes down hard on Donald Trump’s White House

It turns out Michael Flynn is far from the only one who has lost his White House job this week in a cloud of controversy and disgrace. Donald Trump has been forced to fire six more people from his White House staff today after they failed FBI background checks – and some of them then had to be escorted out of the building by security, because their FBI red flags were apparently just that egregious. What’s eye popping is that this is just now happening today, more than three weeks after Trump took office, suggesting the intel community is now going for the kill over the Trump-Russia scandal.

He apparently runs Daily News Bin, Blue Nation Review, Correct the Record and Media Matters. And now The Palmer Report.

With so many, he can use himself to cite himself.

To me this screams FAKE NEWS. Or at least not a reliable source.

I'm not saying he's making stuff up. It might be accurate.

But his background and credentials smell so I wouldn't use him as a reliable source.

Anyone can call themselves a political writer or a journalist. Having a presence on Facebook or Twitter doesn't mean squat as far as legitimate credentials go.

(You'd think a journalist would know it's "My staff and I" and not "me and my staff."

CNN Smashes Trump’s Lie That He Inherited A Mess From President Obama

...CNN’s John King pushed back on Trump’s claim that he inherited a mess, “He inherited a lot of problems. There’s no doubt about that, and he has every right to have a different answer to those problems than the previous Democratic administration. However, he inherited a mess? When President Obama came into office, the economy was bleeding more than 600,000 jobs a month. The unemployment rate was 7.8% on its way to 10%. Donald Trump came into office. In the last month of the Obama administration, the economy added 227,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate is 4.7% or 4.8%, so he has every right to say that there are problems he wants to deal with, but the idea that he came into this swirling cesspool. It’s just not a fact.”

By no metric can what Trump inherited by objectively defined as a mess. Obama left Trump a growing economy, an America with a stable place a top global leadership, ISIS was being pushed out of territory that they had taken, more Americans had health care than at any point in US history.

Sure, there were problems at home and abroad that needed to be addressed, but if Trump wants to see what inheriting a mess looks like, he should look at what Obama was stuck with when he came into office. Obama had to save the US economy from slipping into a depression and end two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Paul Ryan Claims Trump’s Presidency So Far Is ‘Exactly On Track’

Echoing Donald Trump’s absurd statement today that his administration has been “running like a fine-tuned machine,” spineless GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan said that the new president’s agenda is “exactly on track.”

“We put together a 200-day plan for the president to get this agenda that we all have agreed on,” Ryan said Thursday in an interview with shameless Trump cheerleader Sean Hannity. “We are exactly on track and on our timeline with our agenda.”

So now, the "first hundred days" have become the first "two hundred" days. What next, the first "six hundred" days or the first "thousand days"? At what point can we say that Trump is a national disaster. I think it was on Day One, the day when Trump remembers sunshine although it was cloudy and rainy and the day with the less than enormous crowd although the crowd was the biggest ever in Trump's eyes. The Trump administration and the GOP that has created it is descending into disaster at an ever increasing rate. Sorry, Paul Ryan, but you are lying through your teeth just like your president and everyone working for him.

AP FACT CHECK: Trump's messy case that he inherited a mess

By JOSH BOAK and CALVIN WOODWARD - The Associated Press

TRUMP: "To be honest I inherited a mess. It's a mess. At home and abroad, a mess."
THE FACTS: A mess is in the eye of the beholder. But by almost every economic measure, President Barack Obama inherited a far worse situation when he became president in 2009 than he left for Trump. He had to deal with the worst downturn since the Depression.

TRUMP: "ISIS has spread like cancer, another mess I inherited."
THE FACTS: The Islamic State group began to lose ground before Trump took office, not just in Iraq and Syria but also in Libya. The gradual military progress achieved in Iraq during Obama's final two years has pushed IS to the point of collapse in Mosul, its main Iraqi stronghold.

TRUMP: "I see stories of chaos. Chaos. Yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine, despite the fact that I can't get my Cabinet approved.
THE FACTS: Did he just say a "fine-tuned machine"?
Trump's first month has been consumed by a series of missteps and firestorms, and produced far less significant legislation than Obama enacted during his first month.

TRUMP, bragging again about his Electoral College vote total: "We got 306 because people came out and voted like they've never seen before, so that's the way it goes. I guess it was the biggest Electoral College win since Ronald Reagan."
THE FACTS: Not even close. In the seven previous elections, the winner of five of those contests won a larger Electoral College majority than Trump. They were George H.W. Bush in 1988, Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996; and Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.

TRUMP, saying the appeals court that blocked his selective travel ban "has been overturned at a record number."
THE FACTS: Other appeals courts have seen their decisions overturned at a higher rate than the San Francisco-based 9th Circuit that froze his action on immigration.

FBI: Yes, Flynn Lied. No, We Won't Recommend Charges.

.... Turns out Flynn was totally lying. Shocker. Turns out he totally lied. The call was all about those pesky sanctions. Just a reminder, lying to the Feds (or any law enforcement) is a felony punishable by serious prison time. I mean, if you are a normal person and this was a normal period of time in our country. Just ask Martha Stewart. Since we now live in Trumpland where Republicans do nothing except sit around with their fingers in their ears, nothing gets done.

CNN is reporting tonight that the FBI, even after having concrete evidence that he lied his face off, probably won't be pursuing charges. ....

Republicans Outline Plan to Eliminate Health Care for Millions

Paul Ryan outlined the latest Republican replacement for Obamacare today. Here's the nickel summary from the New York Times:

The Republican plan includes tax credits to help people buy insurance and new incentives for consumers to establish savings accounts to pay medical expenses. The tax credits would increase with a person’s age, but — unlike the assistance provided under the Affordable Care Act — would not vary with the amount of a person’s income.
....But the outline did not say how the legislation would be paid for, essentially laying out the benefits without the more controversial costs. It also included no estimates of the number of people who would gain insurance through the plan, nor did it include comparisons to the Affordable Care Act, which covers about 20 million people
    .
The GOP outline is here, but you might as well save yourself the trouble of clicking the link. There are no real details there either. They don't say how big their tax credit is, but they hint that it will be laughably small, especially for older workers. They do say they're going to repeal all Obamacare taxes and get rid of the individual mandate. They promise to switch Medicaid to either a fixed allotment or a block grant; repeal the Obamacare expansion; and put the whole program "on a budget." The Medicaid allotment would grow by "an inflationary index"—but they don't say which one. The plan introduces support for "catastrophic" coverage, which would (maybe) provide plans that are technically cheap enough to be affordable with the tax credit, but which are essentially useless for providing normal health care.

And as long as we're on the subject of health care, the Trump administration issued some proposed new Obamacare regs yesterday. In a nutshell, they plan to shrink the new enrollment period from 90 day to 45 days and make a technical change that would reduce subsidies for a family by about $300 per year. However, this might not matter since they seem to be doing their best to create so much chaos that no insurer is going to stay in the market anyway. If you want more details anyway, Sarah Kliff has 'em.
