Now confirmed that Sarah Palin will definitely NOT be the ambassador to Canada.

Courtesy of the Globe and Mail:

The White House has assured Canada that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will not be appointed as U.S. ambassador to Canada.

A Trudeau government official says that assurance was provided to Canadian officials during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the White House on Monday.

“It isn’t Sarah Palin,” the official said.

American officials have not yet made a decision on an ambassador but were leaning to appointing someone who raised money for the Trump campaign.

I swear that it must be Sarah Palin who floats these rumors as an attempt to stay relevant since her Cheeto stained boyfriend unceremoniously dumped her in a gutter.

And then time after time when they don't pan out she just looks more and more pathetic.

Certainly had some of the Canadians a little worried though.

As one of the few people who actually had to suffer under Sarah Palin's leadership I cannot say that I blame our neighbors to the East.

However I have every confidence that WHOEVER Donald Trump inflicts upon Canada they will be able to handle just fine.

Just get a load of how easily their Prime Minister dealt with Trump's attempt to dominate their handshake.
Damn! Trudeau was not playing.

He looked like he was ready to body slam Trump if he tried any of his pussy grabbing tactics on him.

Here is how Trump typically uses handshakes to dominate others.

But fucking Trudeau was having none of it.

Smart man. Way too smart to ever allow Sarah Palin to take up residence in his country.

Mike Flynn might be done – but Trump's nightmare has just begun

This resignation and scandal is not a surprise. After all, we have a president who is too careless to handle a national security incident in a confidential manner

...We have barely begun to scrape the surface of Trump’s fatal compromises with Russia. It was only last week that US officials say they corroborated some of the communications in the famous British dossier detailing those compromising situations.

Trump can pretend all he likes. He can bluster his way through TV interviews and at the presidential podium about everything from the tiny crowds at his inauguration to supposed illegal voting by non-citizens.

But sooner or later, the presidency – and the constitution it is supposed to defend – catches up with you. A commander-in-chief can’t compromise his own nation’s security and expect to keep his job.

Flynn’s short White House career may be over. But Trump’s nightmare-a-lago has only just begun.

...But the focus Tuesday morning was on the news reports, not Flynn's actions.

"I want to hear from the FBI as to how this got out," Rep. Devin Nunes, the California Republican who chairs the Intelligence Committee, told reporters. "We don't even know if this is true. We just know this from press reports."
The President seemed focused on the leaks as well, not the issues surrounding Flynn.
"The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington? Will these leaks be happening as I deal on N.Korea etc?" he tweeted.
But some Republicans aren't focusing just on the leaks but also want to talk to Flynn himself.
"I would think that we should talk to Gen. Flynn very soon and that should answer a lot of questions. What did he know? What did he do? And is there any reason to believe that anybody knew that and didn't take the kind of action they should have taken," asked Republican Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Tuesday on KTRS radio.
"For all of us, finding out if there's a problem or not and sooner rather than later is the right thing to do," he added.
Democrats are also calling for an immediate briefing on Flynn's conversations with Russian officials about sanctions, but they are also targeting what the White House officials knew about Flynn's conversation and why if they were informed of his actions, why they didn't act until Monday.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough on Tuesday blasted White House counselor Kellyanne Conway for claiming President Trump had "full confidence" in Michael Flynn hours before the national security adviser resigned.

“She goes out and lies, and you find out about those lies a couple hours later,” Scarborough said on "Morning Joe."

“Or if she's not lying ... she is — actually what I’ve heard she is — so out of the loop. She's in none of the meetings and she just goes out without talking, without having the facts.”

...Scarborough said Tuesday that Conway is a "free agent."

"Everybody in the White House but Donald Trump has complained for months that she is a free agent. She goes out, she says whatever she wants to say. She doesn’t coordinate her message," he said.
"And then she comes back in and they have to clean it up."

Scarborough said Conway will lie, but "the truth comes out."

"She will say she's being victimized," he said.

"She will then go in and get a picture with the president and then she’ll get the president to tweet something, and her staff — his staff — will have to clean this all up over and over again."

Report: The Russian Government Is Starting To Worry That Trump Will Be Impeached Or Assassinated

Everything seems to be coming to a head when it comes to the Trump White House’s alleged ties with the Russian government. National Security Advisor Michael Flynn resigned less than a month into his job following reports that he was vulnerable to blackmail by the Kremlin. His departure has been followed by some Russian officials tossing around the word “Russophobia” while defending Flynn. And a new Foreign Policy report (with full analysis) digs deep into why Russia may regret its now inextricable ties to the Trump administration.

All of this follows the conclusion by U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia hacked the DNC in an effort to get Trump elected. The Kremlin reportedly celebrated Trump’s victory as “a divine gift,” but now, “political elites in Moscow have stopped cheering.” They realize that Russia is irrevocably tied to Trump’s success or failure as president, and they’re worried that the latter will drag them down, too. An excerpt:

Dems on Flynn: 'This is just the beginning'

House Democrats have a message for GOP leaders eager to move beyond the Russia controversy following the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn: Not so fast.

"This is not the end, this is just the beginning," Rep. Joseph Crowley (N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday. "This is larger than Flynn."

The comments set the stage for a messaging war on Capitol Hill between Republican leaders, who are hoping to move beyond questions of the White House's ties to the Kremlin, and Democrats, who are amplifying their calls for a deeper dive in the wake of Flynn's resignation.

Republicans Say That Flynngate Is Over. It's Not.

Paul Ryan is doing his best to put lipstick on the Michael Flynn pig:

    ...

This is, of course, a falsehood untruth fib evasion flimsy lie. Three separate news organizations—the Washington Post, NBC News, and the AP—have confirmed that the White House was told about this at least two weeks ago. They did nothing. But when the Post made the story public, Flynn was fired within hours. That's all they cared about.

The point of this is to head off calls for further investigation. Jason Chaffetz, who never met a Hillary Clinton rumor that he couldn't spin into months of congressional testimony, says blandly that the Flynn affair is "taking care of itself." Chris Collins says Republicans are staying quiet about Flynn because it's Valentine's Day. Seriously. Donald Trump himself says the "real story" is that there's been so much leaking about his administration.

    A Staff Shake-Up Won’t Save Trump’s Flailing Presidency

As long as the president is in charge, his administration will remain chaotic.

The idea that a staff shake-up might bring order to a chaotic White House is superficially plausible, but crumbles on closer inspection. Unlike Carter, Reagan, and Clinton, Trump has no political or governmental experience whatsoever. His management style—fomenting chaos and insecurity among his subordinates so they compete to please him—might have served him well as an entertainer but less well in enterprises that involve more than performance and brand-burnishing. Hence Trump’s long string of business failures and bankruptcies in fields outside of entertainment and brand licensing.

What Did @realDonaldTrump Know About Russia and When Did Donald Trump Know It?

...But Flynn’s claim in his resignation letter that he had “inadvertently briefed the vice president-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador,” made no mention of what Trump — at that time the president-elect — knew of the calls.

Looking back at one of Trump’s own tweets, which he posted on December 30 — the day after Flynn secretly urged Russia not to respond to the Obama administration’s new sanctions — makes it hard not to wonder if he knew about his aide’s effort to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to delay.

Todd hasn't placed in the winning bracket of the race in years. He's gotten old, is not physically fit anymore and has scratched early in many of the races he has 'tried' to run in the recent years.

Wonder if Sarah will be out in front/public supporting him as she usually does....you know how she loves the publicity. Too bad Alaskans no longer acknowledge, or support, either one of them!

Kinzinger: Flynn ‘coverup’ is ‘arguably, or questionably a crime’

...Kinzinger said: “Look in this case, the cover-up was worse than the crime. You know it’s arguably, or questionably, a crime – probably not, because look, you know, [Rev.] Jesse Jackson, [former President Jimmy] Carter, during other administrations left to negotiate with other governments against the government, so that was a Logan Act violation.

“It was a bad decision to call Russia and talk about this in the middle of, you know, the past administration determining what sanctions are going to look like. But what happened, the big problem is when he lied to the vice president.”

Omarosa Manigault reportedly said the Trump administration is compiling 'dossiers' on journalists

Omarosa Manigault, a former "Apprentice" contestant who is now a communications official for the Trump administration, allegedly made verbal threats to a reporter last week and said the White House has compiled "dossiers" of negative information on several journalists.

The allegations were made by American Urban Radio Networks' White House correspondent April Ryan, who told The Washington Post that Manigault "physically intimidated" her outside Press Secretary Sean Spicer's West Wing office last Wednesday.

The altercation was reportedly sparked by emails Manigault had sent Ryan last October, in which Manigualt accused Ryan of being a "paid Clinton surrogate," which Ryan denied. The disagreement then escalated into last Wednesday's confrontation. The incident was witnessed by White House staffers and Washington Post politics reporter Abby Phillip, although Phillip said that she did not hear the entire exchange.

"She stood right in my face like she was going to hit me," Ryan told the Post, adding that she thought Manigault's actions were threatening enough to warrant Secret Service intervention.

Manigault then said Ryan and several African American journalists were the subjects of White House "dossiers," according to Ryan.

"I said, 'Good for you, good for you, good for you,'" Ryan said.

    The Embarrassment of President Trump

This can’t go on much longer, can it? In the past, the nation has had do-nothing Presidencies, and scandal-ridden Presidencies, and failed Presidencies, but until Donald J. Trump came along there hasn’t been a truly embarrassing Presidency. Trump himself looks out of place (that squinty-eyed frown, meant to bespeak firmness, or serious purpose, doesn’t succeed), and it’s easy to understand why he looks that way. He’s living a bachelor’s life in an unfamiliar house, in a so-so neighborhood far from his home town, surrounded by strangers who have been hired to protect him but cut him off from any sort of real privacy.

Trump's White House Has No Idea How to Handle This Mess

The Russia story does not end with Michael Flynn.

... There is the simple fact that nobody in this White House seemed to know fck-all about how to handle this situation. It is also a problem for democracy to have the unelected bureaucrats of the intelligence community at war with an elected president, no matter what you think of the president* or how he got elected. Sooner or later, I fear, the military's going to get dragged into this fiasco and that will make things immeasurably worse.

It was more than simply time for Flynn to go. It's time for the country to know everything about the involvement of Russia in the 2016 presidential election, if only to clear the air so somebody can govern the country. It's time for a halt to the bombardment so we can all get the lay of the land again, if and when the smoke ever clears.

"And the Senate Intelligence Committee, again that I serve on, has been given the principle responsibility to look into this, and I think that we should look into it exhaustively so that at the end of this process, nobody wonders whether there was a stone left unturned, and shouldn't reach conclusions before you have the information that you need to have to make those conclusions."

Ethics office: White House should investigate Conway for Ivanka Trump plug

...The Office of Government Ethics is suggesting that the White House take disciplinary action against Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to President Trump, for endorsing Ivanka Trump's products in a TV interview.

Walter Shaub, the director of the ethics office, wrote in a letter to the White House that there is "strong reason to believe" Conway violated ethics standards and that disciplinary action is warranted. He suggested that the White House open an investigation.

Shaub likened what Conway did to appearing in a TV commercial.

Conway gave the endorsement on Fox News Channel last week, one day after the president attacked the Nordstrom department store chain for treating his daughter unfairly. Nordstrom has said it dropped her line of clothing and accessories because they weren't selling well.

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff, is what I would tell you," Conway told Fox News. "It's a wonderful line. I own some of it. I fully -- I'm going to just, I'm going to give a free commercial here: Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online."

Shaub sent the letter to the White House after a bipartisan group of lawmakers from the House Oversight Committee asked the agency to look into Conway.

Ethics office: Conway committed 'clear violation' with Ivanka plug

...In his letter, Shaub notes that Conway’s appearance on Fox & Friends was held in the White House’s press briefing room, signaling that she was conducting the interview in her “official capacity.” "She used that interview, however, as an opportunity to market Ms. Trump’s products," Shaub wrote.

The letter, sent to Donald Trump’s deputy White House counsel Susan Passantino, was copied to White House counsel Don McGahn as well as to Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), leaders of the House oversight panel. Chaffetz and Cummings were both quick to chastise Conway on Thursday, writing a letter to OGE that said Conway’s comments about the president’s daughter’s business “clearly violate the ethical principles for federal employees and are unacceptable.”

Shaub, which noted Conway’s apparent infraction is identical to the example of unethical conduct that OGE offers on its website, asked the White House to notify the agency of any investigation and actions by Feb. 28.

Elizabeth Warren Just Broke Facebook With Her Response To Flynn’s Resignation

“Michael Flynn’s blinding religious hatred and shady Russian ties disqualified him as National Security Adviser on day one. His removal is a win for American values. But American national security demands that we not allow Michael Flynn to become a scapegoat for this Administration’s disturbing ties to Russia.”

“This isn’t a game. Reports say the Russians conducted a series of successful cyber-attacks on our elections to help elect Donald Trump. Reports say our own intelligence agencies have corroborated parts of a dossier alleging that Russia has compromising information about Donald Trump. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has close ties to Putin. Commerce Secretary nominee Wilbur Ross has close financial ties to Putin buddies. Donald Trump is still making money overseas and may have financial ties to Russia. Nobody knows since he STILL won’t release his taxes.”

“This. Is. Not. Normal. President Trump owes the American people a full account of his Administration’s dealings with Russia, both before and after the election. When did the White House know that Flynn lied? What other contacts with Russia occurred during the campaign? Who knew what? Who approved what?”

“Congress must pull its head out of the sand and launch a real, bipartisan, transparent inquiry into Russia. Our national security is at stake.”

General Flynn’s sudden resignation after only 24 days in office is not going to end the possible criminal investigations into his behavior either, it’s only going to intensify them. Judging by the kind of information being shared with the media by law enforcement officers, it’s highly likely that a FISA Warrant – the secret national security surveillance permission to spy – has been issued to look into Flynn’s dealings with foreign countries.

Judging by the kind of information being shared with the media by law enforcement officers, it’s highly likely that a FISA Warrant – the secret national security surveillance permission to spy – has been issued to look into Flynn’s dealings with foreign countries.

Before departing service to the White House, Trump could’ve fought any attempt to place General Flynn under oath vigorously, prolonging any investigation by months, years or even indefinitely. Now that Michael Flynn is no longer part of the Trump Administration, he loses the Executive Privilege and can be hauled into Congress to testify under oath, or into a court of law as well.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2017/02/not-just-flynn-here-are-4-more-trump-loyalists-with-troubling-ties-to-putins-russia/

The Question the White House Won't Answer: Did Trump's Campaign Have Contact With Russia?

Press secretary Sean Spicer ducks this key issue.

ABC News' Jonathan Karl asked whether any Trump associates were in touch with the Russian government before the election.

This is important, for that would mean that Trump folks were in contact with the Putin regime while it was attacking American democracy. Trump and his team have adamantly denied there were any interactions with Russian officials. At a press conference in mid-January, Trump ignored a question about such contacts. Once the event was over, he said, "No contact." Days later, on Face the Nation, incoming Vice President Mike Pence said the Trump campaign had no interactions with Moscow. Host John Dickerson asked him, "Did any adviser or anybody in the Trump campaign have any contact with the Russians who were trying to meddle in the election?" Pence declared, "Of course not. And I think to suggest that is to give credence to some of these bizarre rumors that have swirled around the candidacy."

Yet the Washington Post reported days ago that Kislyak told the newspaper he had been in touch with Flynn since before the election. The ambassador declined to say what he and Flynn had discussed. And the newspaper reported that the Flynn-Kislyak conversations "were part of a series of contacts between Flynn and Kislyak that began before the Nov. 8 election and continued during the transition, officials said." These facts and Kislyak's comment undercut Trump's and Pence's assertions there were no pre-election contacts.

So what was Spicer to say when Karl posed this query? At first, Spicer said that Flynn did speak to the Russian ambassador during the transition. No, Karl protested, that's not the question. What about before the election? Spicer then sputtered out this reply: "There's nothing that would conclude me that anything different has changed with respect to that time period."

That contorted reply would seem to mean that the White House is sticking to its previous denial. But this assertion runs contrary to what is now the public record:

    http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/02/sean-spicer-ducks-question-about-trump-campaign-contacts-with-russia

How Michael Flynn's firing could help fix US foreign policy

...Flynn was the most extreme voice on Trump’s foreign policy team, a striking contrast with the more stolid Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Flynn advocated for teaming up with Russia to fight ISIS, has said that “fear of Muslims is rational,” and endorsed bringing back torture of suspected terrorists. He is a living, breathing instantiation of the worst foreign policy instincts of the Trump administration.

So with Flynn gone, the key voices in Trump’s national security are all of a sudden a lot more level-headed. This suggests that a recent, under-heralded trend — the Trump administration floating radical ideas that quickly fall apart — might not be an aberration.

    It might become the norm.

  48. And so it begins.

"U.S. President Donald Trump signed into law on Tuesday legislation that repeals a securities disclosure rule aimed at curbing corruption at energy and mining companies.

“This is a big signing, very important signing. This is HJ Resolution 41, disapproving the Securities and Exchange Commission rule on disclosure of payments by resource extraction issuers. It’s a big deal,” Trump said in the Oval Office before signing the resolution.

In a 52-47 vote, the Republican-controlled Senate approved earlier this month the resolution, which eradicates a rule requiring companies such as Exxon Mobil and Chevron Corp to publicly state taxes and other fees paid to foreign governments like Russia.

After a number of legal battles, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in June 2016 completed the regulation, which supporters said could help expose questionable financial ties U.S. companies may have with foreign governments.

The rule was required by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law, which Trump has pledged to roll back."

Trump is going to dismantle all of our protections and safeguards a little at a time.

45's handshake is also known as the salesman's handshake and it is taught in basic sales training for used car salespeople. It is meant to invoke confidence in the one putting his hand over your hand. In 45's case, it is a grifter move.
