Former President Barack Obama caused quite a commotion Friday when he stopped inside a New York City office building.
A large crowd gathered outside, trying to catch a view of Obama as he left 160 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.
It was not immediately clear what the former president was attending to during his stop. A representative for the president's foundation declined to comment.
In the liberal enclave of Manhattan, Obama was met with loud cheers as he walked to his motorcade.
I swear it is almost a shock to the system to see the super cool former President after this last month of watching his petulant orange tinged replacement.
Seriously what would you sacrifice to have this man back in the White House leading this country?
As the nitwits in comment sections scream, "how much is this costing us taxpayers?," while they seem to have no problem with the shitgibbon's trips to Mar-A-Lago nor what it costs to keep call girl Rapunzel in her "golden" NYC tower.
ReplyDeleteHow I miss him! They will FOREVER be my First Family.
Not to mention the $100,000 for one of the Trump boys to take a business trip to Uruguay,or for the two of them to go to Dubai to open some other business enterprise.
DeleteThe Trump family is ripping off the American taxpayer beyond the bounds of imagination. Shamelessly.
Trump's personal trips have cost, in a month, what Obama's trips cost us in a year.
And don't even mention Trump's repeated attacks on President Obama occasionally playing golf!
President Obama is and has been the 'prince of peace' - something Trump doesn't even fathom!
DeleteI so miss the kindness and steadiness of President Obama (and the First Family) in the White House.
I'd go so far as to wager that if an election was held today for POTUS, that President Obama would win it in a landslide against Trump!
Trump is the worst American we have in our country as far as I'm concerned. Few would miss him if he were no longer in the office of potus.
The Trump boys will be going to Vancouver BC to cut the ribbon opening the new family hotel there. Couldn't just one of them go? And, since it's for their business only, shouldn't their company foot the security bill?
DeleteBeaglemom
8:52 I totally agree. The Obamas are well worth the protection costs, he gave eight years of his life to this country, worked his ass off for this country and has been threatened continuously throughout the entire two terms.
DeleteIn this case, we got the better part of the deal with this President.
I would give minor body part to have Obama back in office.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear cheers of appreciation!

I would give up several minor body parts to have Obama back in office!!
ReplyDeleteNo big deal. Sarah gets the same cheers every time she comes out of Taco Bell and K-Mart.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Palin obsessed are here already!
DeleteActually we pelt her with snowballs whenever we see her ;-)
DeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Sir!

This is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteHouse Democrats plan to troll Trump at big speech
Lawmakers are inviting 'Dreamers,' Muslim-Americans and others to his joint address before Congress on Tuesday.
...Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.) invited Hameed Darweesh, an Iraqi interpreter who worked with the U.S. army for a decade overseas and was detained before the travel ban was struck down by federal courts.
Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) will be accompanied by Banah Alhanfy, a young Iraqi woman who was temporarily separated from her family, including her Iraqi-interpreter father, because of the executive order.
Langevin expects 10 to 15 of his colleagues and their guests to participate in a press conference railing against Trump’s policies Tuesday.
Several other lawmakers are focusing on the administration’s recent moves to beef up immigration enforcement, which Democrats warn is just the beginning stages of mass deportations.
“We're trying to not just tell the president, but we’re trying to tell the country, apparently tolerance and justice issues require ongoing lessons,” Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) said.
Quigley is one of a handful of members inviting a so-called "Dreamer," an undocumented immigrant brought here as a minor, to Trump’s speech. Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Jared Polis (D-Colo.) and Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) are also bringing Dreamers as guests.
Arizona Democratic Reps. Raul Grijalva and Ruben Gallego are bringing the children of an undocumented immigrant who was recently deported during a routine check-in with enforcement officials.
Other lawmakers have invited Muslim guests who have been victims of hate crimes.
Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s guest is Aneelah Afzali, a Muslim-American and longtime local community activist. Afzali’s local mosque was vandalized after the election.
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (N.Y.) has invited Sarker Haque, a Queens business owner who was attacked in his store in 2015, allegedly by a man claiming he wanted to “kill Muslims.”
More than a dozen Energy and Commerce Committee Democrats are bringing constituents who would be affected by Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare.
And Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) is leading a separate effort encouraging members to invite law enforcement officials and first responders to call attention to Republican efforts to roll back gun restrictions in the post-Obama era.
“There’s been some pretty troubling action coming out of Congress in regard to [guns],” Thompson said in an interview.

LOVE this!
DeleteI am so thrilled to see the Democrats standing up and fighting Trump and the Republicans in Congress in very public and creative ways.
Let's hope we can keep this wave going until the next election.
Did you hear that CBP detained Mohammed Ali's son at the airport. Asked him if he was Muslim. No criminal record, American citizen. Detained his mom too. On a flight coming from Jamaica.
DeleteBet they're falling all over themselves to get Muhammad Ali Jr. to attend. He was just detained for two hours at the Miami Airport because he had a Muslim-sounding name.
DeleteApparently U.S. passports are no longer valid for I.D. Now you must carry photographic proof of identity.
But U.S. passports have photos... at least mine does. Not good enough anymore? Plus which I have a weird foreign name and belong to a religious minority; I'd be toast at an airport. :-(
DeleteMrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel 1:02 PM wrote: But U.S. passports have photos...
DeleteI believe the previous commenter was referring to the fact that Muhammad Ali Jr.'s mother had a picture of herself with his father, whom the agent recognized, presumably favourably.
a left nut if I had one.....soooo miss him!
ReplyDeleteI've been having this fantasy of a Coup, the most powerful Military in the World snatched up former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, Malia and Sasha took them to a secured location, they remove everybody that's connected to trump from the White House. They put in Barack Husein Obama temporally until some really smart person read over the Constitution on an Election do over. Hillary Clinton and Kusack run against each other. Bill Gates gets his crackerjack smart people to prevent hacking into the DNC. Every dollar trump rip off the American tax payer is returned. Melania is deported back to her Country, and the trump family goes on trial and his Lawyers are useless...to be continue. God I miss President Obama
ReplyDeleteNice fantasy! I wish that would happen. But it won't.
DeleteOur best chance is to continue the Russian investigation and find proof that Trump knew and agreed to everything. Considering his style of leadership, I have no doubt that he did.
As for having Obama back? I'd donate time, money, whatever was needed to get him back. He is becoming more and more popular to people who were lukewarm to him during his term.
A more realistic position for him would be chairman of the DNC. He proved in 2008 that he can run one hell of a campaign. Imagine if he would start publicly organizing against Trump!
After what he had to go through, I thoroughly enjoy seeing him enjoying life. He is far from done; you watch!
DeleteHow about the next democratic president appoints him to SCOTUS?
DeleteThe Republicans are starting to turn.
ReplyDeleteAnd it begins with the Representatives, because they are already looking at 2018 and their re-elections.
Darrell Issa is in YUUUUUUGE trouble. He actually had to campaign last time and he barely squeaked out a win. His opponent is coming for him again in 2018.
So what is Darrell doing? Well, first, while he did ditch a Town Hall he actually met with protesters outside his office and talked to them for an "informal" town hall.
And now? He says there should be a special prosecutor to look into the Trump-Russia connection. Now I don't know if that's to cover it up or he wants to head a committee to investigate (like with Benghazi) because he wants to be prominent to shore up his re-election bid.
I'm just saying the dam is starting to crack and it will be the vulnerable Representatives that will go first. And any Senators looking at 2018.

I don't trust Darryl Issa for a nanosecond. He'll start and "investigation" and then end it quickly before anything can be discovered but he'll get credit for having initiated an investigation. He's probably been plagued with emails about how eagerly he was to investigate Hillary Clinton and any other Democrat under the sun.
DeleteBeaglemom
@2:01 Beaglemom. EXACTLY! Issa is a
DeleteRich Prick Grea$Y PIG.
"Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is the wealthiest member of Congress, with a net worth of $357.25 million."
I watched Maher. Issa was putting on a show. At the end of the interview, Bill said, "surprised to hear you say that!"
DeleteTreat your guests as guests; even he knew Issa was full of shit.
U.S. born citizen detained at Florida airport because he's black and has a muslim name.
ReplyDeleteThat's right. Muhammad Ali Jr. was detained for 2 hours after coming back from a speaking engagement in Jamaica for no other reason than he had a Muslim sounding name.
He was repeatedly questioned as to where he got his name and are you a muslim.
This is what Trump's AmeriKKKa has become. Immigration are the new SS. Ali had a U.S. passport, was born in Philadelphia and yet was detained and questioned for TWO FUCKING HOURS.
Why? Because he didn't carry a photo of himself and his famous Dad with him to prove who he was.

New York City Police say that hate crimes have risen dramatically and attribute it to Trump.
ReplyDelete" In the middle of a crowded bar, Adam Purinton yelled at two Indian men to "get out of my country," witnesses said, then opened fire in an attack that killed one of the men and wounded the other, as well as a third man who tried to help.
Hours later, the 51-year-old former air traffic controller reportedly told a bartender in another town that he needed a place to hide because he had just killed two Middle Eastern men.
In India, the father of one of the wounded men called Wednesday's attack in the Kansas City suburbs a hate crime, but authorities on Friday declined to discuss a motive as they investigated. The shooting swiftly stoked fears about the treatment of immigrants, who feel targeted by President Donald Trump's promises to ban certain travelers, build a wall along the Mexico border and put "America first."
The president has been especially vocal about the threat posed by Islamic terrorist groups. Both of the Indian men were Hindu."
And there you have it. Not Muslim. Not from the seven "deadly" countries of Trump's xenophobia.
"GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!" and then open fire.
If that isn't a hate crime directly tied to Donald Trump, I don't know what is.

Bill Maher also mentioned again last night how bad he lost NYC to Hillary.
DeleteEverything the shitgibbon and cronies do and say are dog whistles to these types. Free pass.
I really enjoyed listening to the cheers the President got as he left the building.
ReplyDeleteI miss him, his family, and the entire COMPETENT administration so much that it's almost painful to watch video of him and be reminded of what we lost. Even before Trump started down his path of total devastation, I wasn't able to watch the farewell speeches the Obamas made. It hurt too much to witness the end of such a successful era and know that we were about to enter one of the darkest and most dangerous periods in our country's history.
It did hurt, but I watched everything (and cried each time) like a skinny squirrel hiding nuts ahead of a long, bitter winter. The grace, kindness, and SANITY of the Obamas, Bidens, and the entire Administration are as salve to an open wound.
