So now there are three separate FBI investigations into the Russian hacking of our election?

Courtesy of Reuters:

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation is pursuing at least three separate probes relating to alleged Russian hacking of the U.S. presidential elections, according to five current and former government officials with direct knowledge of the situation.

While the fact that the FBI is investigating had been reported previously by the New York Times and other media, these officials shed new light on both the precise number of inquires and their focus.

The FBI's Pittsburgh field office, which runs many cyber security investigations, is trying to identify the people behind breaches of the Democratic National Committee's computer systems, the officials said. Those breaches, in 2015 and the first half of 2016, exposed the internal communications of party officials as the Democratic nominating convention got underway and helped undermine support for Hillary Clinton.

The Pittsburgh case has progressed furthest, but Justice Department officials in Washington believe there is not enough clear evidence yet for an indictment, two of the sources said.

Meanwhile the bureau’s San Francisco office is trying to identify the people who called themselves “Guccifer 2” and posted emails stolen from Clinton campaign manager John Podesta’s account, the sources said. Those emails contained details about fundraising by the Clinton Foundation and other topics.

Beyond the two FBI field offices, FBI counterintelligence agents based in Washington are pursuing leads from informants and foreign communications intercepts, two of the people said.

Okay that all sounds very promising, but it still bothers me that the head of the FBI is a Trump sycophant who interfered in the election to help him win.

Even though I have heard that Comey cannot do anything directly to block this investigation from going forward, I am still troubled.

But do you know who is NOT troubled?

Vladimir Putin.

Courtesy of Business Insider:

The slow drip of revelations about communication between Russia and associates of President Donald Trump has created the kind of "unbelievable turmoil" in Washington that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been known to revel in.

Reports have emerged in recent days that the Kremlin is getting nervous about the chaos, because the government has been counting on Trump to improve the US-Russia relationship.

But some experts say that, on the contrary, Putin is likely feeding off of the chaos and the extent to which it has furthered his own domestic agenda — that is, to convey to ordinary Russians how ineffective Western democracy can be.

Yes their inability to completely control Trump, or predict his behavior, is surely troubling the Kremlin.

But then again since nobody else seems to have any control over him, or have the ability to predict what he will do next, that means that America looks more dangerous and out of control every day.

So how could that not put a smile on Vlad's face?

I just hope the FBI puts a rush on this investigation so that we can get enough evidence to eject the giant Oompa Loompa from office, and hopefully his entire cabinet along with him.

When Trump was elected, Apatow said, he felt like “a person about to get raped, but I didn’t know how bad it would be.” Now that Trump is president, he added, “I feel like I’ve just been raped and I just don’t know if I’m going to get murdered.”

    The L.A. crowd applauded, knowingly.

Soon, he had moved on to the First Family, including Melania Trump, who has refused to even move into the White House. “That’s pretty bad,” he said. “I mean, think about it: Hillary Clinton didn’t move out of the White House and her husband got a blowjob in it.” As for Melania, he said he “understands” why she’s staying away. “Every day she’s not in the White House is a day she’s not getting fucked by Donald Trump,” Apatow said. “Wouldn’t you stay away?”

“There's no precedent in the modern history of the presidency for what we've seen over the last month,” said Republican operative Steve Schmidt. “If you combine the dishonesty, the sloppiness and incompetence, the result is deep concern and anxiety across allied capitals, glee in the capitals of foreign enemies, and an American public that regard him one month in with the lowest levels of support in the modern era. We’ve just never seen an American administration collapse from a credibility perspective as quickly as this one has.”

Pro-tip: Whenever a Republican (especially one who can't hold a seat himself) offers advice to the other side of the aisle, do the opposite.

Like pretty much every other sentient being globally, when Rep. Jackie Speier witnessed that bizarre 77-minute press conference by Trump this week, she became concerned by...how can I put this delicately?...Trump's grasp on reality. She tweeted out a reminder that the Constitution now has in place protections for us if the President does not appear to be able to carry out his duties:

    That Was Fast!

It’s Not Too Early to Ask: Are Even the Russians Turning on Trump?

Yes, they worked for his victory and yes, they’re glad it isn’t Hillary. But they know bumbling when they see it. And they sure have a dossier on Trump too…

...The Trump administration—a claque of former “ironic” California high school racists, Pepe-the-fascist bloggers and neo-Crusader race conspiracists—plus Trump’s blank-staring son-in-law (when he’s not trying to buy the Miami Marlins) and a couple of beleaguered veterans of the RNC—has proven itself to be as bungling as it is malevolent. None of Team Trump’s “shock and awe” Big Ideas have been executed without extreme folly; not the “totally not Muslim” travel ban, not the immigration raids, and not the wall Mexico won’t pay for. And for Russia, that can’t be good news, unless what they truly wanted from a President Trump was sheer American chaos, not policy change.

Russian leaders seemed palpably freaked out when Gen. Michael Flynn, clearly seen as Moscow’s main man in Washington, was forced out of the Trump administration amid revelations that he conducted secret foreign policy on the phone with the Russian ambassador over Christmas, then lied to the vice president about it. It’s pretty difficult to imagine that Flynn acted without the direction, or at least the approval, of his boss, the then-incoming president.

But more alarming than the phone calls was the fact that Flynn was considered potentially compromised by a foreign power, by the Director of National Intelligence, the acting attorney general of the United States, Sally Yates, and others, and that the White House was told as much and still waited to act. Now, the Kremlin has reportedly ordered Russian media outlets to dial back their glowing Trump coverage, amid uncertainty about what comes next.

There are even reports that some Russian Trump enthusiasts are beginning to experience the first pangs of buyer’s (well, hacker’s) remorse.

What really makes me angry is the new republican talking point is: forget that Flynn talked russian intelligent agents, it was illegal for the intelligence agencies to be wire taping Flynn, a private citizen.

No one has countered with: maybe they were wire taping the russians, not Flynn. And if they are going to use the “private citizen” crap, why was a private citizen talking with ruskie agents, undermining the Obama administration, when this occurred before the inauguration.

Also why would trump who was not in office, say it was ok for Flynn to call the ruskies, but of course he didn’t tell him to do it.

Someone in the media needs to step up and counter their lack of logic.

  8. While we are being distracted by the shiny things, the Republicans are dismantling our country.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/republicans-cra-federal-agencies_us_58a7776ae4b045cd34c1a44c?section=us_politics

"While President Donald Trump distracts the public with his angry tweets, Republicans in Congress have been busy undoing federal regulations that agencies have been working on for years.

GOP lawmakers are dismantling regulations they deem overreaching and burdensome using an obscure law known as the Congressional Review Act, or CRA, which can be used to undo any regulation within 60 days of its finalization. The law, passed in 1996, also bars agencies from writing a “substantially” similar rule after the initial rule has been blocked ― a major concern for legal experts and advocates.

The CRA came to be under legislation pushed by then-Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.). Lawmakers wanted an easier way to undo regulations, even though agencies can only issue them according to statutes written by Congress.

Congress had only used the CRA once before Trump took office, which is another reason people are concerned about its implications. There isn’t a whole lot of legal precedent concerning how and when it should be used. "

New Gingrich created this nuclear destruction.

The most terrifying thing is, once they use this law to rescind a regulation you can NEVER PUT IT BACK AGAIN!

I hope someone has the courage to either take this to the Supreme court or rescind the Congressional Review Act. It is the most damaging law and you can be sure the Trump administration will abuse it, permanently destroying the protections to the people, animals, plants, water, air and land of this country.

They're not "regulations", they are PROTECTIONS!

If they weren't needed, they wouldn't have been put in place in the first place.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/parliament-withdraw-trump-state-visit_us_58a9e592e4b07602ad55c35f?xapviw4ylnv7ycik9&ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

Perhaps Ms. May overstepped her authority when she invited him.

Only 100,000 signatures are needed for debate and this petition received 1.8 MILLION.

The people of the UK do not want their monarch insulted by having to host a vulgar sexual predator.

"“He should not be invited to make an official State Visit because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen,” the petition reads, citing Trump’s “well documented misogyny and vulgarity.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan agrees with the petition and said Sunday Trump should be denied due to his “ban on people from seven Muslim-majorities countries” and his decision to block refugees from entering the United States, the Associated Press reports.

“In those circumstances we shouldn’t be rolling out the red carpet,” Khan said."

"Typically, the State Visits Committee ― comprising trade and security officials and private secretaries to the royal family and the prime minister ― recommends a list of leaders to invite, on which Downing Street and Buckingham Palace must sign off. The invitation is then extended by the government on behalf of the queen. "

Something tells me that protocol was skipped by May when she invited the Shitgibbon when he hadn't even been in office for a month. Typically it would be two YEARS before an invitation. And they aren't automatic either.

"Of the 12 U.S. presidents to hold office during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, only two have been received in official state visits: President George W. Bush in 2003 and President Barack Obama in 2011. "

So look at all of the presidents that weren't invited for state visits.

    Kennedy, Reagan, Carter, CLINTON.

It is an INSULT to force the Queen to entertain this malignant narcissist and his gold digging extended family. Because you know he's going to drag the entire clown car with him.

As The Wheels Of The Trump Juggernaut Come Off

...Now, congressional Republicans’ marriage of convenience to the crackpot showman of Fifth Avenue shows signs of post-honeymoon stress. For in just four weeks, Trump has breathlessly caught up with his predecessors in power abuse. Having crashed into a big, beautiful wall, he is, by all accounts, reeling. The wall is of his own making, constructed with the collusion of a party that found him a useful vehicle and will likely continue to do so until the day comes when they discover that they are so, shocked, shocked, that Donald Trump is exactly the wrecking ball that tens of millions of Americans knew he was. Trump’s staffers have barely been able to locate the White House light switches, but in less than a month they have already presided over more known scandal than Barack Obama could muster in eight years. And we’re not counting Trump’s routine lies, obfuscations and blunders, or those of his apparatchiks, faithfully delivered at every press briefing and on every Sunday morning show. The metronome pace of the wrecking ball is breathtakingly rapid.

There are two keys to driving down Trump’s approval rating. The first is that his base will stick with him no matter what, and his detractors will stand against him no matter what. Neither of those groups can be swayed. But neither group comes close to being the majority, and thus neither is really a factor in the numbers. Shifting his approval rating is entirely about the convincing people who don’t yet have a strong feeling about him one way or the other. The second key is that you have to use the kinds of tactics and arguments that they’re going to think are important, and not merely the angles that you think are important.

We’re talking about the people who generally think both sides are the same: the ones who vaguely listen both sides, can’t figure out who’s telling the truth, and then go back to watching their favorite TV show. To people with strongly held political beliefs of any stripe, these middle-of-the-road types are maddening. And yet they’re the key to driving his approval rating down, because they’re only ones whose minds can be changed about him.

HA HA HA, I just received this email from the Democrats !!!
    ============================================
Trump held his first re-election campaign rally yesterday. Tell Senate Republicans to play by their own rules and refuse to confirm his Supreme Court nominee during the campaign

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

Remember Merrick Garland -- President Obama's Supreme Court nominee who Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans stridently refused to confirm because of a totally fabricated notion that the Senate shouldn't confirm Supreme Court nominees during a presidential campaign?

Well, earlier this month Donald Trump picked Neil Gorsuch -- an ultra-conservative, anti-consumer, pro-business judge -- as his nominee to fill Merrick Garland's stolen Supreme Court seat. But yesterday, only 29 days into his presidency, Donald Trump held his first campaign rally for his 2020 re-election bid.

So, according to Mitch McConnell's standards, the Senate cannot and should not confirm Gorsuch to the Supreme Court because we are officially in campaign season.

Neil Gorsuch's nomination should be treated with the same respect that Republicans gave Merrick Garland -- it's only fair that Mitch McConnell play by his own rules.

Add your name: demand that no nominee be confirmed to the Supreme Court during Trump's re-election campaign:

    Thanks,

    Eric

  20. Trump is revising his Muslim Ban.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/ap-source-trumps-revised-travel-ban-targets-same-011826746--politics.html

"A draft of President Donald Trump's revised immigration ban targets the same seven countries listed in his original executive order and exempts travelers who already have a visa to travel to the U.S., even if they haven't used it yet.

A senior administration official said the order, which Trump revised after federal courts held up his original immigration and refugee ban, will target only those same seven Muslim-majority countries — Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya.

The official said that green-card holders and dual citizens of the U.S. and any of those countries are exempt. The new draft also no longer directs authorities to single out — and reject — Syrian refugees when processing new visa applications."

Craig Deare, whom Trump appointed a month ago to head the National Security Council's Western Hemisphere division, was on Friday escorted out of the Executive Office Building, where he worked in Washington.

A senior White House official confirmed that Deare is no longer working at the NSC and has returned to the position he previously held at the National Defense University. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an incident not otherwise made public, and provided no further details.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Sunday that Deare "was sent back to his original position." Asked if government employees should be concerned that they could be fired for criticizing the president, she said: "I don't think any person that is there in order to carry out the president's agenda should be against the president's agenda."

Current and former administration officials say Deare's termination was linked to remarks he made Thursday at a private talk at the Wilson Center, a Washington think tank. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter."

More like they were afraid they'd be fired too.
