Despite overwhelming opposition Donald Trump prepares to sign executive order that would ban travel from six of the previously named Muslim countries. Update!

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

President Trump is preparing to sign a new executive order Monday that White House officials hope can withstand legal scrutiny that will ban travelers from six majority-Muslim nations seeking new visas from entering the United States for 90 days, according to a fact sheet the administration sent to Congress. (Update: Trump did actually sign this today.)

In addition, the nation’s refugee program will be suspended for 120 days, and it will not accept more than 50,000 refugees in a year, down from the 110,000 accepted last year by the Obama administration.

The order, which is to go into effect March 16, represents an attempt by the Trump administration to tighten security requirements for travelers from nations that officials said represent a terrorism threat. A more sweeping attempt in January provoked mass protests across the country as travelers en route to the United States were detained at airports after the surprise order was announced.

The new guidelines name six of the seven countries included in the first executive order, but it leaves out Iraq. That nation will increase cooperation with the United States on additional security vetting under separate negotiations and its citizens are not subject to the new order, the fact sheet states.

The new order provides other exceptions not contained in previous versions: for travelers from those countries who are legal permanent residents of the United States, dual nationals who use a passport from another country, those attending diplomatic missions, and those who have been granted asylum or refugee status.

“The United States has the world’s most generous immigration system, yet it has been repeatedly exploited by terrorists and other malicious actors who seek to do us harm,” the fact sheet stated.

Actually besides the attack on 9-11 America is still relatively untouched by most of the terrorist attacks that take place around the world.

However I can almost guarantee that actions such as this are likely to result in a significant uptick.

Getting people to murder other people, and likely die themselves, is so much easier if they believe their target is an evil entity bent on the destruction of others like themselves.

And it's not as if the courts are like to allow this new "improved" travel ban to stand.

They rejected the first one, and there is very little doubt they will reject this one as well.

Especially since we know from Rachel Maddow that the Department of Homeland Security itself has determined that terrorists likely to launch attacks in this country are radicalized AFTER living in America for a number of years rather than before they arrive.

This is a waste of time. It is dangerous. And it does NOTHING to actually keep us safe.

Update: Apparently this Muslim travel ban was fast tracked to cheer Trump up after he lost his shit due to the Sessions' recusal.

Courtesy of Vox:

That night at Mar-a-Lago, Trump had dinner with Sessions, Bannon, Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly and White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, among others. They tried to put Trump in a better mood by going over their implementation plans for the travel ban, according to a White House official.

In other words when Cheeto Hitler gets angry it makes him feel better to punish the most vulnerable and defenseless group he can find.

Doesn't that make you feel proud to be an American?

Trumps male kids (adults) should be put on the front line in the war he starts. Then, their jerk would get a taste of what it feels like to have children fighting the battle!

His kids would run from serving as did Donald Trump during Viet Nam.

    3. No one should allow their daughters to join. The military is becoming as misogynist as the Oval Office. They have always had problems with rape and sexual harassment. The latest is nude photos posted, some without the knowledge or consent of the victim. I.E. Candid photos taken without the knowledge of the subject.

I suspect the "tolerance" for LGBTQ and the non-white is only for the press too. The religious right has really taken hold in the military so I'd be careful if I was anything but a fundamentalist Protestant.

Murkowski (Republican) should not be reelected to her office in the U.S. Congress. She's just as deplorable as Trump and the rest of the Republicans in the U.S. Congress!

Also saw on CBC last night a woman, with Canadian passport was told by border patrol she needed a visa to enter US. The US embassy said she doesn't need one and ask customs what kind of visa is needed.

Republicans Are Hiding Their Plan To Take Away Healthcare From 10-20 Million Workers

The Republican Obamacare replacement plan doesn't just repeal Obamacare and gut Medicaid. The plan would also cause 10-20 million US workers to lose their health insurance from their employers.

...On top of the 20 million people who are going to lose their health insurance under Obamacare repeal, there are another 10-20 million who stand to lose their health care under the Republican scheme because the GOP intends to tax health care plans. The Republican plan to make the tax credit to buy health insurance age-related will give employers motivation to drop their coverage.

The Republican legislation harms the employer-provided health insurance system and will cost people their insurance who don’t get their coverage through the exchange or the Medicaid expansion.

I suspect that most Americans aren’t aware that the health insurance that they get from their employer is in jeopardy. Up until Trump took office, Republicans had effectively mischaracterized Obamacare as some sort of health insurance that people bought. The reality is that the Affordable Care Act provided protections for consumers no matter where they got their insurance, and those protections are under threat from Republicans in Congress.

Republicans are hiding the ugly truth that they are coming after employee health care.

Amid Donald Trump’s new Muslim ban, Khizr Khan informed he’s not allowed to travel

...“Late Sunday evening Khizr Khan, an American citizen for over 30 years, was notified that his travel privileges are being reviewed. As a consequence, Mr. Khan will not be traveling to Toronto on March 7th to speak about tolerance, understanding, unity and the rule of law. Very regretfully, Ramsay Talks must cancel its luncheon with Mr. Khan. Guests will be given full refunds. Mr. Khan offered his sincere apologies to all those who made plans to attend on March 7th. He said: ‘This turn of events is not just of deep concern to me but to all my fellow Americans who cherish our freedom to travel abroad. I have not been given any reason as to why. I am grateful for your support and look forward to visiting Toronto in the near future.”

Canadian broadcast news channel CBC is backing up the story by tweeting a news alert reading “Gold Star dad who chided Trump’s Muslim ban cancels Cda visit due to ‘travel review.’ Khizr Khan not told why.” CBC reporter John Paul Tasker has tweeted that “Khizr Khan, the Gold Star dad, was scheduled to be on @TheCurrentCBC tomorrow while in T.O., now ‘travel privileges are being reviewed.'”

Ben Carson: Slaves Were Immigrants Who Came Here And Worked Really Hard ‘For Less’

Ben Carson made his debut as secretary of Housing and Urban Development Monday by telling agency employees about the virtues of the “can-do” American society. Carson said this value system was best exemplified by slaves, whom he characterized as immigrants who came to the United States with very little and worked very hard.

“That’s what America is about,” Carson said. “A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

Tapper Slams Trump Advisers for Enabling Him on Conspiracy Theories

...After highlighting that Trump’s latest allegation appears to come from a segment on conservative radio host Mark Levin’s show, the CNN anchor pointed out that the president took what Levin was saying and “made it even less tethered to fact.”

    Towergate

I have learned that some — though definitely not all — members of President Trump's inner circle share his belief that the Obama administration tapped his Trump Tower phones in October. And a White House official told me President Trump not only doesn't regret this weekend's fracas despite the lack of evidence for his astonishing claim, he is "absolutely convinced" he'll be vindicated.
    Keep reading 356 words

"The president just has a great nose for these things," the official said. "It's the bureaucratic leaks — the deep state — that bother him most. Even if it turns out not to be true that they surveilled Trump Tower, he will have a very good point to make about the level of sabotage coming from Obama holdovers."

Those facts help explain Trump's high-stakes decision to ask Congress to add Obama abuse of "executive branch investigative powers" to its Russia investigation. For Trump spokespeople, it's a handy punt: Now they don't have to defend or explain Trump's tweets, and just refer questioners to Congress.

But the risk is that there'll be a day of reckoning — perhaps after documents are subpoenaed and testimony demanded — when a Republican Congress embarrasses the White House by saying the president was flat wrong when he accused his predecessor of a crime.

Towergate is a fascinating test of Trump's great gamble that he can do the job of president in a totally new way: largely improvisational, driven by whims, moods and obsessions; thinly staffed, like his campaign, and with poorly enforced process, not taking advantage of the massive safety net available to him; heavily reliant on family; and unconstrained by manners, rituals or precedent.

Khizr Khan confirms his travel rights are under review after attacking Trump during campaign

The father of an American soldier killed in Iraq who came under criticism last year from then-candidate Donald Trump said he has canceled a speaking engagement in Toronto after being notified that his U.S. travel privileges were under review.

Khizr Khan, an American citizen born in Pakistan, said he had not been given a reason as to why his travel privileges were being reviewed. He did not say what kind of review he was subject to, which U.S. agency ordered it or who told him of the change.

“This turn of events is not just of deep concern to me but to all my fellow Americans who cherish our freedom to travel abroad,” Khan said in a statement issued by the engagement organizer on Monday. “I am grateful for your support and look forward to visiting Toronto in the near future.”

Khan had planned to speak at a luncheon in Toronto on Tuesday in a discussion about President Trump’s administration, according to Ramsay Talks, a Toronto-based speaker series hosted by Bob Ramsay.

If President Donald Trump tweeted something then there must be evidence that proves he is correct, according to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Gen. John Kelly.

In a CNN interview with Wolf Blitzer, Kelly explained that he doesn’t know any information about what Trump has alleged. However, “if the president of the United States said that, he has his reasons to say it, he has some convincing evidence that that took place.”

Kelly also confirmed to Blitzer that he is considering separating women and children at the US-Mexico border.

“Yes, I am considering — in order to deter more movement along this terribly dangerous network — I am considering exactly that,” Kelly said. “They will be well cared for as we deal with their parents.”

Both FBI Director James Comey and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper refuted Trump’s claims.

    1. Kelly is naive but I suspect he'll learn pretty fast after having to cover Trump's ass a few times. He'll do like Comey and have to turn on Trump eventually if just to save himself.

And what does Kelly mean by "taking care" of the children? Will they be sent to the gas chamber first as the Nazis did? Will the federal government set up orphanages close to the border to house the children and then force them across when they're old enough - say 14 years old? Did Wolf ask any follow up questions to the insane assertion?

The Nazis separated mothers from their children in the concentration camps and then held out the promise of reconciliation in order to control the mothers.

    1. Trump has decided on his "favorite" Muslim countries and SIL Kushner is in charge of middle east relations.

Egypt, Jordan and the UAE. Quatar (where the boys just opened some golf courses and I think a hotel is being built) is sorta, kinda, unofficially part of the UAE. So basically if he has business interests, they are "good" muslims.

Funny that he is completely ignoring Pakistan, Afghanistan and Indonesia. All Muslim countries.

I guess, Miaiuppa, we have someone who knows absolutely nothing about foreign policy dealing with the Middle East. Kushner's only qualification is his Orthodox Jewish religion. Oh my.

Exactly what has Trump done since taking office that has been beneficial to the American people as a whole or to the world as a whole? i think that his entire administration and the GOP controlled Congress is only there to make life hell for the rest of us. For this I blame the people who voted them in and the media which thought it was all such a joke from early 2015 on. Unfortunately, we are all now victims of the Trump administration.

This morning's big news: ACA subsidies will be replaced by "tax credits." Not much help to ordinary people who need help to pay for their family's medical insurance, but that's how the GOP operates.

Of course, the news is meant to distract us from the presence of Russia in our midst. I certainly hope that the media and the Democrats in Congress do not lose sight of the most cancerous malady in our midst (the treasonous behavior of the Trump campaign and the treasonous White House, as they express their dismay that the GOP has, once again, missed the point in providing health insurance to the greatest number of citizens possible.

Every few days now, there will some other legislative bombshell put out there to distract and worry us because the GOP, from Trump to the least member of the House, all intend to destroy our way of life.
