Michelle Obama visits a DC high school classroom bringing with her so much awesomeness that the students are overcome with emotion.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

When former first lady Michelle Obama walked into a D.C. high school classroom, the stunned students erupted in tears. One student even darted out of the classroom to regain her composure before she could sit next to her.

Obama, who still lives in Washington, made a surprise visit Tuesday to Ballou STAY High School to speak with 14 students for two hours. Upon arriving, she hugged each of them before taking her seat in the circle.

“Once she came in, it was an inspirational feeling,” said Alliyah Williams, 18. “She was so sweet and warm. She was like a mom.”

After visiting the public alternative high school in Southeast Washington, she tweeted “Always love visiting DC schools. Thank you for hosting me today @BallouSTAY. Stories of students #reachinghigher continue to inspire me.” The tweet referenced the White House initiative “Reach Higher” she launched to encourage students to continue their education.

“Mrs. Obama had an emotional and heartfelt discussion with the students,” Caroline Adler Morales, a spokeswoman for the former first lady, wrote in an email. “There were tears, laughs and lots of hugs.”

I'm sorry but do you know how much cool you have to have to make high school kids, who are saturated with indifference, lose their shit like this?

I think only a handful of folks could have this effect, Beyonce, Michelle Obama, and maybe Jesus, but I am not even sure about that last one.

Could you even imagine Melania Trump inspiring this kind of response? From anybody?

I used to think that the one person that I would like to have a dinner with would be President Obama who I admire greatly.

But fuck that noise, I would much rather have a meal with Michelle Obama and just talk about parenting, education, and the future of the country.

It would be epic.

(P.S. Of course if Michelle is too busy I would certainly not say no to the big "O." Just throwing that out there.)

I so admire both First Lady Michelle Obama and President Obama! Would love to visit with either of them! Wish, wish!

It sickens me to see what Trump is doing right now as to President Obama - which I suspect is to cover up his doing with Russia.

Trump always lies and diverts the subject matter. The asshole sickens me and will never rise to the likes of President Obama.

The Obamas are truly lovely people and have represented America beautifully! And, I'm sure they are going to continue doing so.

There are many who realize the titanic amount of shit that the Obamas had thrown at them by the racists, the evangelicals, and the far right lunatics.

The President also risked his life every day, and the life of his family to serve us for 9 years during the campaign and his 2 terms.

I would love to have even 10 minutes with either of them.

They can do a lot to try and overcome the TIDAL WAVE OF HATE, FILTH, VICIOUS RACISM, AND OUTRIGHT BULLYING SHITE THAT TRUMP IS SPEWING LIKE A FIRE HOSE EVERY DAY.

    Bravo Ms Obama!

No doubt why 45 is trying to blame every last thing on him. He will NEVER measure up and he knows it.

  3. Beyond the unprecedented marvelousness of the Obamas, it warms my cockles to know that their mere existence makes Dolt .45 even crazier than he already is, on an ongoing and escalating basis.

President Obama is a very hard act to follow. Good.

I was happy to hear that Mrs. Obama was making public visits again. She is a marvelous force for good.

What I did not like was the vitriol present in many of the comments about her school visit in the Wash. Post's article. There is a veritable coterie of Obama "haters" who pop up whenever there is anything in the news about either of them.

Mrs. Obama's visit certainly put Trump's visit to the private school in Orlando and his third wife's visit to children in a hospital in perspective. Trump's advice to the children: make a lot of money and don't go into politics. Then he announced that he's taking on the "civil rights" issue in education, which can only mean the "civil rights" of private schools and forcible fake Christian education in public schools. I don't think Trump understands what the ongoing civil rights issues are all about. And his pathetic third wife. I think she meant well but she really needs to improve her English. There are lots of ESL programs for adults she could sign up for? Doesn't she have any rich American women she can meet and talk with? Is she only surrounded by Slovenians and Russians?

Melania visited a NYC school last week to read to the children.

She read to them in Russian since she has not yet passed her ESL class.

In 2013, Mrs. Obama spoke to the graduating class at one of the high schools in Nashville (I forget which one, but a work friend had a daughter there) and from all accounts, Mrs. Obama thoroughly charmed and inspired the students.

Did she tape a dollar bill under their chair? That's the difference. A woman truly dedicated versus a lazy flash in the pan.

How many were in that Washington state high school class, 11:09 AM? Maybe 25? Surprised she parted with it, and TAWD looked like he just crawled out of bed.

My health has really deteriorated since Obama left office and I worry constantly. Rogue POTUS staff says he is getting really paranoid because Dump knows he is caught in the Russian connection. They also said we have a foreign espionage agent in the presidency. Saying he won't last long, but then we will get stuck with Pence unless he is proven to be involved too. To hell with the lot of them. They only serve to make this country so much worse. I sure miss the Obamas. My heart is broken that RUssia has, in effect, taken control of the USA. Hope Trump rots in jail for what he has done.

I have a little game I play called 10 for dinner. If you could have any 10 people (must be living) to share an epic meal with - who would they be? The Obama's have made my list since 2008.

Alicia Mangledoofus, if anybody liked Sarah she wouldn't be where she is now, roundly ignored by the rest of the world.

Sarah's big problem is that America doesn't like her. That small minority that used to like her dumped her when she endorsed the reprobate Trump. There is no coming back from that.

Young people are going to be Michelle Obama's future focus and that includes her upcoming book.

She's not writing her autobiography and she's not doing anything political.

    Which makes me so sad.

I am 56 years old and have never wanted to meet a President and First Lady as much as I've wanted to meet the Obamas.

I have tremendous respect and gratitude for their selfless service to our country, and the dignity and integrity they demonstrated during the past 8+ years, despite all the hate and ugliness that was hurled their way.

I am so thankful that I was able to vote for President Obama, and witness his historic and successful presidency. We will not soon have another family in the White House with as much class as the Obamas.

I love me my former POTUS and FLOTUS Obama! I just hope, that they, as well as their two lovely daughters, get a REALLY GOOD Secret Service protection! They have to be doubly concerned nowadays with all the crazies around, as well as with Don The Red Con egging those crazies on, and the Russians potentially getting in there, too.

Sometimes I think it would be a good idea to have the kind of parliamentarian system as in the UK: when the governed "lose confidence" in the Prime Minister, he steps down and there's an election.

Instead we have to put up with this treasonous asshole and the pukes he covers for; KKK, white supremicists, Putin.

    Fire his ass.
