VP Mike Pence discussed classified issues on a personal email account, and it was hacked. How do you perform CPR on an irony meter?

Oops?
Courtesy of The Guardian:

Vice-president Mike Pence used a personal email account to discuss security issues as governor of Indiana and was hacked last summer, it was reported on Thursday.

Pence’s AOL account was compromised by a scammer who sent an email to his contacts claiming Pence and his wife had been attacked on their way back to their hotel in the Philippines, losing their money, bank cards and mobile phone, the Indianapolis Star reported.

“In response, Pence sent an email to those who had received the fake communication apologising for any inconvenience,” the paper said. “He also set up a new AOL account. Because the hacker appears to have gained access to Pence’s contacts, experts say it is likely that the account was actually penetrated, giving the hacker access to Pence’s inbox and sent messages.”

Here is more from Indy Star

Emails released to IndyStar in response to a public records request show Pence communicated via his personal AOL account with top advisers on topics ranging from security gates at the governor’s residence to the state’s response to terror attacks across the globe. In one email, Pence’s top state homeland security adviser relayed an update from the FBI regarding the arrests of several men on federal terror-related charges.

AOL? What is this 1991?

Here is Mike Pence back in October of 2016 attacking Hillary over her private server, while the crowd yells "Lock her up!"

"Truth is a force of nature, and truth has a way of making its way out."

It certainly does, doesn't it Mikey?

Yeah I don't just want Donald Trump impeached I want this asshole taken down as well.

POS!

We now know the reason why Republicans tried to keep their Obamacare replacement bill a secret. The leaked bill would take away health care for millions of Americans and taxes health insurance.

...The goal of the Republican Obamacare replacement plan is to give people insurance that costs more but covers less.

Americans who don’t purchase their insurance through the exchange, or are on Medicaid are still facing the prospect of spending more money for less insurance.

Since Republicans will be offering a tax credit that doesn’t cover the cost of insurance, the uninsured rate in the United States is going to immediately skyrocket.

House Republicans were trying to keep their plan a secret because it is a very bad deal for the American people.

Unless you are an insurance company, there is nothing good about the GOP’s Obamacare replacement plan.

In Red-State Utah, a Surge Toward Obamacare

From the moment the Affordable Care Act passed in 2010, most elected officials in this sturdily Republican state have been eager to squash it.

But something surprising is happening here. Despite deep uncertainty about the law’s future, Utah recorded one of the biggest increases of any state in residents who signed up for A.C.A. coverage this year. Though residents have a reputation as polite and mild, the state is seeing a surprising burst of activism against repealing the law — including from Republicans.

“I’m naturally a really quiet person, but if I sit and do nothing and they take it away, how can I live with that?” said Kim Nelson, 54, a Republican second-grade teacher who buys coverage through the A.C.A. marketplace and was recently treated for breast cancer. She has been calling and writing her congresswoman.

Many Utah residents still detest the Affordable Care Act, but the activity here, and in other politically conservative states, highlights the challenges Republicans and the White House face as they struggle to come up with a palatable replacement to the law.

When Representative Chris Stewart spoke with constituents by videoconference on Wednesday, a woman, who said she got insurance for the first time in her life through the law, asked, “Poor people need it and you’re against it — why?” Congressional offices have been bombarded with calls, emails and social media messages, including from some constituents who have never been moved to contact them before.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/03/health/utah-obamacare.html

There is a small window of time that is closing fast, which is why they're in a panic to repeal it, since people are getting pissed about being robbed of their healthcare.

Mia Love, congresswoman from UT, was another one that held a telephone conference rather than face those people that cared enough to come forward to meet with her. Sorry excuse for a public servant. Hope everyone remembers come next election cycle. She could use public funds for political mailings, trips for conferences, etc., but not enough respect for citizens of UT to meet with them. Karma, mia..

    3. Let the Republicans repeal it immediately and then put their piece of crap in place before 2018.

That will ensure a YUUUUGE win for Democrats in the House and Senate and will go a long way to taking back the House, Senate and White House in 2020.

This is exactly what the Republicans wanted. Carte Blanche to do everything their hearts desired.

They are going to get a wake up call upside the head from the people they have been ignoring all these decades. Even the stupid will realize that those they have been voting for are not their friends and are not working for them or making their lives better.

The job of the DNC is to LISTEN to the working people and DO SOMETHING to show that if they are put in power they WILL DO SOMETHING to benefit the common man. 50 state plan. Start at the local level. If you don't take the states, it won't matter if you take Congress. It will only be temporary.

GOP members of Congress should all win some kind of "Coward of the Year" award for refusing to meet with constituents because they might be critical of some of the elected officials' votes or positions.

At the same time, many of their constituents should win "Idiot of the Year" awards for having voted for the GOP candidates in the first place. Nothing's changed in GOP positions in the past eight years. Didn't these constituents realize last November that their members of Congress would keep voting to end Obamacare just as they had been doing since the first votes against it seven years ago? Or didn't these constituents know that it was the ACA? Either way, not very smart voters.

Trumpism at Its Best, Straight Up

Donald Trump gave us Trumpism at its best on Tuesday night. And that was useful because it gave us a view of the political movement he represents, without the clownish behavior.

The first thing we learned was that Trumpism is an utter repudiation of modern conservatism. For the last 40 years, the Republican Party has been a coalition of three tendencies. On Tuesday, Trump rejected or ignored all of them.

There used to be Republican foreign policy hawks, people who believed that it was in America’s interest to serve as a global policeman, actively preserving a democratic world order. Trump explicitly repudiated this worldview, drawing instead a sharp distinction between what’s good for America and what’s good for the rest of the world.

There used to be social conservatives, who believed that the moral fabric of the country had been weakened by secularism and the breakdown of the family. On Tuesday, Trump acted as if this group didn’t exist. He didn’t mention a single social issue — abortion, religious liberty, marriage, anything.

Finally, there used to be fiscal hawks who worried about the national debt. Trump demolished these people, too, vowing a long list of spending programs and preservation of entitlement programs.

The Republicans who applauded Trump on Tuesday were applauding their own repudiation. They did it because partisanship is stronger than philosophy, but also because Reagan conservatism no longer applies to current reality.

The second thing we saw was how Trump’s ethnic nationalism emerges from the wreckage of the old G.O.P. Healthy American political philosophies balance individualism and collectivism, personal freedom and communal cohesion.

The old Reagan conservatism was economic individualism restrained by social and religious traditionalism. Conservatives could embrace the creative destruction of the free market because they believed that the communal order could be held together by traditional morals and the collective attachments of family, church and local organizations.

But in the 1990s conservatism devolved from a flexible balance to a crude anti-government philosophy, the Leave Us Alone coalition. Republicans talked as if Americans’ problem was they were burdened by too many restraints and the solution was to get government off their backs...

AOL floppy disks would let you use a dialup modem at 28.8 kb to access a TEXT BASED

I happened to have accounts at my nearby college in 1991, so I did have telnet, gopher, ftp, and Lynx available on their Unix system

No, he was correct. There is NO comparison, because HE uses an antiquated email account that WAS HACKED. Hillary used a secured private ISP, which was NOT hacked. And she did NOT use it for official government business.
So, again: NO COMPARISON is correct!

Yes, Fox News seriously says there’s "Nothing To See Here" about Mike Pence’s emails.

Hillary Clinton Photographed On Plane Reading About Mike Pence’s Emails

    Oh, the irony.

Hillary Clinton was spotted Friday afternoon doing some reading on a commercial American Airlines flight traveling from Logan Airport in Boston to LaGuardia in New York.

In the photo below, Clinton sits in a coach seat next to Huma Abedin (who’s mostly obscured below) with a phone in her hands and her eyes on the papers splayed across her lap and Abedin’s.

One paper is a copy of USA Today, with the headline “Pence used personal email in office” emblazoned across it.

Trump-Russia fall guy Carter Page is being hauled before the Senate Intelligence Committee

Who the hell is Carter Page? Pieces fall into place
Who the hell is obscure Donald Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, and what role did he play in Trump’s Russia scandal? Those are the questions the journalism community has been pursuing for the better part of a year. Now that he’s been exposed as having met with the Russian Ambassador, and then lied about it, and then admitted he lied, and was then thrown under the bus by Trump today, it turns out the Senate Intelligence Committee wants answers as well.

Carter Page is an American who spent much of his adult life living and working in Russia, and who was mysteriously hired by the Donald Trump campaign as a foreign policy adviser despite having no qualifications. We were able to definitively confirm earlier today that it was Jeff Sessions who first introduced Page to Donald Trump a year ago. The Trump campaign fired back, however, claiming that it was someone else who brought Page into the fold, and that it’s been cease and desisting Page for months.

In amongst all that chaos, with Carter Page realizing that the Donald Trump campaign is now trying to make him the latest fall guy in the Russia conspiracy, Page decided to do a pair of disastrous television interviews. On Thursday night he appeared on MSNBC and ended up implicating himself in the process. He tried again on CNN on Friday night, and ended up admitting to Anderson Cooper that he’s being hauled in by the Senate Intelligence Committee. But it gets stranger.

Donald Trump’s sinking White House can’t even get straight who it’s throwing under Russia bus

The attempted coverup is even more incompetent than the crime

...What we’re seeing now is a sinking Donald Trump administration in such chaos over the Russia scandal that it can’t even get its own story straight about who the designated fall guy is supposed to be. For Donald Trump to have any slim chance of surviving this, he and his remaining allies need to be coordinating the coverup in expert fashion. And instead they’re falling apart.

But now Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee are vowing to meet with him in the UK or wherever it is he’s located.
