As you might imagine Twitter had a field day with this.
Why did Trump forget to put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem started and throw a hat into crowd he signed for a child.— A Once Great Nation (@USARedOrchestra) April 17, 2017
Trump doesn't go to church, doesn't hand-over-heart during the national anthem & wastes taxpayer money every single weekend.— Jack Miller (@politicalmiller) April 17, 2017
*GOP crickets*
If Obama had forgotten to put his hand on his heart for the National Anthem he'd have been slated by Fox for days.. #EasterEggRoll— George Reeves (@GeorgeReeves94) April 17, 2017

Trump disappoints kids, screws up the national anthem at his first Easter egg roll https://t.co/VJaDz4aqW1
Every single day there are more and more reasons to feel shame for what is happening in our country right now.MT @paul_lander Melania nudges Donald Trump to raise his hand for the National Anthem. In fairness, it wasn't the Russian National Anthem.
— RonSupportsYou (@RonSupportsYou) April 18, 2017
I'm not going to knock Trump nor Obama. In school I was taught to put my hand over the heart for the Pledge of Allegiance only. I suspect they were taught the same. However, the US Code indicates that one should also place a hand over the heart for the National Anthem. Military personnel, in or out of uniform, as recently revised, would salute.

Apparently a guy can get away with murder as long as he isn't POTUS'ing while black.
ReplyDeleteYou must be a young'un because Clinton got the same crap as Obama.
DeleteClinton got a lot of shit but Obama got way more than his fair share due to nothing but unabashed racism.
DeleteThe silent crowd that trump talked about perhaps are the racist.
DeleteHoly cow. Can you imagine if it were Obama who did that?
ReplyDeleteHoly crud.
No I cant imagine and I sincerely HOPE that he is working overtime to fix this now.
DeleteNo I cant imagine.
DeleteShe may have nudged him, but I have zero respect for her as well. #notmyflotus
ReplyDeleteHe must think he's not an American. Ok. Go home to Russia. Money and assets stay. You know, cuz we don't want to repeat history. Cough. You know, scathing out of a nation being slaughtered and all, taking money that is not yours. Cough. Something like that.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sure he thinks because he's President he doesn't have to salute, that the people are saluting HIM.
DeleteYou know. Like why you don't toast yourself?
He's above everything. Nothing that others must do apply to him.
Or if Michelle had shown up wearing a tea-length pink chiffon mother-of-the-bride dress?
ReplyDeleteHey, let's just be thankful that Melanoma remembered to wear clothes at all.
DeleteI like the way the third wife overdoes her modesty when in public with pastel colors and solely flowing gowns.

Where is his tweet best Easter Egg Hunt in the history of the world ? We had the hugggest, mostest eggs.
ReplyDeleteHe can blame the whole fiasco on Melanomia, since it was her job to organize it.
Did they send spicy boy to Walmart to buy Made in China Easter Eggs since they never responded to the company in Maine that usually makes them?
Did he charge the taxpayers for the left over trump bubba hats to throw out to the kids?
KID$ HAT$

I understand the eggs had product placement on them, so maybe he got them for free.

Trump to sign executive order reviewing ‘Buy American, Hire American’ practices
President Donald Trump on Tuesday will sign an executive order aimed at bolstering his pledge to “buy American and hire American” by directing federal agencies to probe government procurement practices and re-examine all programs under which workers enter the United States from abroad — including H-1B visas, a key priority for tech companies.
The “Buy American” aspect of the order will focus primarily on “the twin pillars of maximizing ‘Made in America’ content and minimizing waivers and exceptions to ‘Buy American’ laws,” a senior administration official told reporters late Monday afternoon. .......
Trump has long promised to pursue a “Buy American, Hire American” initiative, which aims to limit the purchase of goods manufactured abroad and the use of foreign workers. He included the goal in two of his highest-profile speeches since entering the Oval Office — his inaugural address in January and his joint address to Congress in February — and tweeted last month that the initiative represents “the core of [his] agenda.”

Don't you know laws and rules are for the little people. They don't apply to the Emperor of America.

Well little donnie did promise to pay all their legal fees.
ReplyDeleteGuess his supporters are going to find out it was just another one of the many lies told by Donald Trump.

White nationalist claims Trump directed rally violence
Trump supporter asks a federal court to hold the president liable for any damages stemming from a lawsuit filed by protesters who attended a Kentucky campaign stop.
A white nationalist leader accused of assaulting a young African-American woman at a Donald Trump campaign rally filed a countersuit on Monday claiming the president directed him and other supporters to remove protesters.
Matthew Heimbach claims in his federal court filing that he “acted pursuant to the directives and requests of Donald J. Trump and Donald J. Trump for President” and that, if he’s found liable for damages, “any liability must be shifted to one or both of them.”.......

Somebody tell that idiot that he and his family are not the royal family, and that he looks like Benito Mussolini on that platform. (And remember what happened to him.)
ReplyDeleteFunny how Sarah and Donald got that "royal" act going on.
DeleteWhat do they know that we don't?

Oh wait! Now we know...
What is the deal with little donnie always clapping at the head of the stairs on Air Force one? Is he clapping for himself, that they managed to land or is this part of his OCD ritual before going down stairs?
DeleteWhy did they have the presidential seal on the balcony, who else would be living in the W.H besides russians?
Don't the masters clap to get the servants jumping and moving? I'm sure he's muttering "hop to it" under his breath.
DeleteHe also hates to go up and down stairs (hence all of the escalators in his buildings.)
While little Asperger Barron sways back and forth near mother and father.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty shitty. *IF* he does have autism, why would you make fun of a child? Have you no empathy at all? Do you know anyone with autism? I do. My son. He's 15 now and he'd be that kid "swaying back and forth near mother and father" back at that age and in that kind of public situation.

We the people are directly and personally affected by this group of people. They have enabled trump and his criminals. Each one of us have been seriously harmed by the actions that enabled trump to continue this fraud.
This is not America. This is not right. And Americans must stand up, speak up, Demand the removal of trump. He is unfit.
Today I saw this guy. Dressed in camo and driving an old Toyota camo painted small truck. It had welding equiptment, the usual stickers. "don't tread on me" Bengazi this and that. blah blah blah and then a little cage built with small wire with a little doll in it. It was Hillary in prison uniform and another bumper sticker of lock her up. For the added visual he had attached a 12ft flag pole with the American Flag flying.
ReplyDeleteSeems the Law Enforcement Agencies would want to just stop this guy and make sure that his head is not missing a few screws.
Then I jumped on the freeway and another guy lost his entire truck load of boxes. Guns Ammo the usual stuff one lugs around town.

ReplyDeleteGood article
ReplyDeleteI caught that moment too! (Not watching live, I was at work-I also try to avoid seeing him willingly if at all possible - saw the clip on a Raw Story article) The thing that caught *my* attention at first was (and *not* for the first time) how Trumplethinskin *twisted* to-and-fro like a bored kindergartner with ADHD, *then*, like a kid caught daydreaming, had to be nudged and reminded as to *WHAT* to do *when*! And think of it! THIS is our supposed LEADER! ALL eyes are on HIM (metaphorically) at this moment; he's supposed to 'look Presidential' and 'lead us' - Melania had to lead HIM!!! It's like she's his nanny!
ReplyDeleteTHANK doG CNN posted that and got the word out!
I also noted at Raw Story (as 'BookLove') that Obama would've been REAMED for such a transgression!
The Crooks and Liars site likened the debacle to the 'Hunger Games'...::chuckle:: and noted the horrible attendance. These chuckleheads would screw up boiling water.
Either the singer or the Easter bunny should have shifted position slightly in the photo of the singing of the National Anthem. it sure looks like the singer is wearing giant bunny ears.

Putting one's hand over the heart is not required. In fact, I think it's a new addition. When I was in school (born 1962) we were taught hand over the heart for pledge, stand at attention for anthem.
ReplyDeleteFind video of someone singing the national anthem at an old ball game and no one has their hand over their hearts unless they're removing their hats.
This is part and parcel of the modern fashion to "out-patriot" someone else.
It's not required. But it became required by Republicans and the media after 9/11. It's like the wearing of a tiny flag pin. That's not a law but now, if a Democratic male politician fails to wear a flag pin, he is a traitor. (Most of the little pins are made in China but that's beside the point, I guess.) These "patriotic" gestures are not required of Republicans because, you know, they "love" America more than anyone else.

I was born in 65 and my husband in 61 and that's how we were taught, too. I get it that it's morphed/changed now but other than laughing at how miserable they are together and her nudge, it's no big deal to me. He's so clueless to any nuance, though, and she seems ON it. He's a tool.
DeleteJillyG
Me too. Hand over heart for pledge. Hands by your sides for the anthem, whether you are singing it or not.
DeleteI have no idea when pledging to the national anthem began, but I'm sure it was by a right wing fundie.
God forbid they should get right down there on the lawn and play with the kiddies like the Obamas did.
ReplyDeleteThat kid in the red uniform singing the National Anthem looks like a chorus member of The Nutcracker Ballet company.
ReplyDeleteSome military school?
DeleteGiven the bright red uniform I'm guessing from a Confederate school, oh, excuse me, from the South.
