Illinois to name Barack Obama's birthday as an honorary holiday.

Courtesy of WGN 9:

The Legislature in Barack Obama’s home state has decided to honor the 44th president’s birthday.

A plan to mark Obama’s August 4 birthday as an honorary holiday gained approval 87-0 in the Illinois House Friday. The state Senate endorsed the measure in March. It now moves to the Republican governor’s desk.

The proposal would officially recognize Obama’s efforts to protect the rights of Americans and build “bridges across communities.”

There is of course the slim chance that the Republican governor will refuse to sign the bill, but considering Obama's popularity in Illinois I think that would be political suicide.

Gee I wonder if New York will name a state holiday after Donald Trump after he is forced out of office?

What's that you say?

Why no, I do not think it is likely that Hell will freeze over anytime soon.

Quick I need an Executive Order written to abolish every day designated in all states a Barack Obama's birthday holiday or there will be no federal funding in those states.

No ,New Yorkers hate Trump. As someone who lived there for over 50 years he was much disliked even before his forays into politics.President Obama is a man of class dignity and basic human kindness.Trump is a man of sloth avarice and greed. How much longer do we put up with this, America?

If New York doesn't have a state holiday for FDR then they sure as hell won't have one for Orange Hitler.

I long for the Obama days when we were fortunate to have had an intelligent, thoughtful and honest President. Seems like a long time ago but certainly it isn't forgotten.

    Bravo, Illinois!

Our governor Rauner (Illinois) is a total toad.

Just like Trump and Romney, he is a rich jerk who forgoes his governor's salary. This clown has been unable to work with any of the Democratic legislature and has not passed a desperately needed budget in TWO freaking years!!

He runs these stupid TV commercials EVERY single day saying how great he is, the rest of the legislature is bad and how only HE can fix Illinois. He better sign the bill or he'll never get re-elected.

  9. I live in Illinois, voted for Obama three times, and think he was one of our top 15 presidents (at least), but I say "NO" on an "honorary holiday" in his honor. We don't need more honorary things. Honor him by naming something after him - maybe Midway Airport (originally named after the WW2 battle).

Or name a park after him. Just not a stupid, meaningless "honorary holiday".

Or we could change Midway to O'Hare and name O'Hare after Obama. Just have to spell O'bama so the racists don't figure out the airport's named after an admitted negro.

    3. An honorary holiday is a start.

There will be parks, schools, freeways, airports and plenty of other things named for Obama. I'm sure before Trump is out of office, which will really burn his cookies.

"MacArthur and his colleagues are double-counting the money; they've already promised to use the vast majority of that $138 billion to fix other problems caused by the GOP bill. Only a tiny sliver of the funds—$8 billion over five years—is expressly dedicated to helping people with preexisting conditions buy insurance if they're charged extra."He agreed to support the bill once again in exchange for a separate amendment that provides just $8 billion over five years to set up high-risk pools in states that choose to allow insurers to charge sick people more. After 2023, that fund would dry up unless Congress decides to pass a new bill. And then that's it."

I don't think even Barack Obama would want that.

Folks are just missing him, that's all. Having an adolescent orangutan in the Oval Office takes a lot of getting used to.
