Voter ID laws in Wisconsin suppressed as many as 200,000 votes. Trump won by a mere 22,748.

Courtesy of The Nation:

According to federal court records, 300,000 registered voters, 9 percent of the electorate, lacked strict forms of voter ID in Wisconsin. A new study by Priorities USA, shared exclusively with The Nation, shows that strict voter-ID laws, in Wisconsin and other states, led to a significant reduction in voter turnout in 2016, with a disproportionate impact on African-American and Democratic-leaning voters. Wisconsin’s voter-ID law reduced turnout by 200,000 votes, according to the new analysis. Donald Trump won the state by only 22,748 votes.

The study compared turnout in states that adopted strict voter-ID laws between 2012 and 2016, like Wisconsin, to states that did not.

While states with no change to voter identification laws witnessed an average increased turnout of +1.3% from 2012 to 2016, Wisconsin’s turnout (where voter ID laws changed to strict) dropped by -3.3%. If turnout had instead increased by the national no-change average, we estimate that over 200,000 more voters would have voted in Wisconsin in 2016.

This reduction in turnout particularly hurt Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The lost voters skewed more African-American and more Democrat. For example, Wisconsin’s 2016 electorate was 6.1% more Republican, and 5.7% less Democrat, than the group of ‘lost voters’. Furthermore, the WI electorate was 3.7% more White and 3.8% less African American than the group of ‘lost voters.’ This analysis suggests that the 200,000 lost voters would have both been more racially diverse and have voted more Democratic.

Just another reminder that Trump could not have won the 2016 election without significant cheating.

He not only had the help of the Russians and the Comey letter, but he also had voter ID laws suppressing turnout all throughout the country.

Let's face it the man stole this election, and the sooner we get his orange tinted corpulent ass out of the People's House the better it will be for the country.

Trump didn't do this in a vacuum. He couldn't have won the election without a boat load of prep work by Party B4 Country politicians.

    Trump is the Ooo shiny
Party B4 Country politicians are the issue all citizens of the USA must address

And this is just one state. Each state somehow helped this nasty dirty liar. There were operatives in most states to sway the election one way or another. Just start digging and you will find the bad hombres that helped this pos liar to steal the election. This is huge and it will be exposed. PERIOD. To hell with the bastards.

Thom Tillis has claimed that anyone in NC can get a state ID for free if they want one. Here are the steps needed to make that happen here in Charlotte
    1. Take a day off of work. If you make minimum wage that would be $64.00
    2. Take a bus to the Urban Ministries, the charity the gives vouchers for the DMV--cost $2.50
    3. IF you are one the lucky 25% that gets in line early enough, get the voucher and take the bus to the DMV. This involves 2 busses--Cost 5.00
    4. Take 2 buses to get back home--Cost 5.00
    5. If you are not one of the lucky ones to get an ID take an additional day off of work and start the process again.
So the average cost is $76.50 or more.
And that is in the biggest city NC. The rural counties probably do not have charities that offer vouchers for the DMV.

NC has early voting so my former employer made it clear that you were not permitted to miss work on election day. Unscrupulous employers can easily schedule all of their minority employers for 7a-7p shifts on election day and threaten to fire anyone who misses work. Here in Charlotte all of the early voting locations were in affluent neighborhoods making it difficult for poor minorities to utilize early voting. Bernie's FB a few days ago called for election day to be a national holiday. This is a good idea. If all who want to cant vote than there is not democracy.

And now Donald is back on his kick voter fraud being responsible for his loss of the popular vote. Of course his stupid commission is going to "prove" this. I hope that it also includes his daughter Tiffany as it she was registered to vote in more than one state.

"Over the final 100 days of the election, Trump made a total of 133 visits to Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan and Wisconsin. Over the same time period, Hillary Clinton visited the first five of those states a total of 87 times. She never traveled to Wisconsin during the 102 days between the convention and the election."

dRUMPf has never finished or won anything without cheating. Mostly he cheats those who have worked for him. He had to have the deplorable R party with him in order to cheat the election as he did. To the R's I say 'hey hey hey goodbye'

He seems surprised that We The People do not work for HIM, so he cannot fire us while cheating us out of a living wage.

"Trump is trying to change the subject and distract from the Russia, but in the bigger picture, this White House is also anxious to make it harder for people who are more likely to support Democrats to vote. Trump’s executive order is an effort to provide a justification for voter suppression and discrimination.

Donald Trump has never left campaign mode. This president is already obsessed with WINning reelection in 2020, and his executive order is nothing more than abuse of power that is the first step in an effort to STEAL the next presidential election."

And I think the vote cheating will get only worse by the time of the next presidential election. Gee, why can't Republicans do anything honestly? This nonsense has been going on at least since Nixon's "dirty tricks" in 1968 and have only gotten more sophisticated between the gerrymandering, the computerized voting machines that can be fixed, the removal of voters from the voters' rolls, and on and on. The GOP has cornered the market on cheating. We may have had our last fair and honest election in 2012.

Thanks Gryphen, that's how Republicans win. Gerrymandering and voter suppression (with Voter ID laws, limiting places to get an ID, not accepting IDs from students, IDs which other states accept for voting. Also limiting early voting, they limit voting places and limit easy voter registration processes, and limit and much more).
I'm glad I live in Minnesota where voting is easy and where we don't have a draconian (and an rather idiotic and corrupt Koch paid for governor) such as Wisconsin has gotten in terms of Walker.

Also voter fraud, Republican's another distraction topic has been unproven to be vast by non-partisan and independent organizations. As I recall, some of the most recent publicized voter fraud was Republicans doing it to show how easily it was done and they were caught while voting fraudulently in recent and previous elections. The system preventing voting fraud works; yet try convincing Republicans of actual truth and facts is an impossible task. They'll do another Benghazi chasing their alternative facts and wasting taxpayer resources to find nothing again and again in terms of voter fraud except what is statistically already reported. That voting fraud is miniscule in terms of all the votes cast in an election. Thankfully the system works and even catches Republicans when they try to manipulate the system to vote twice just to test it.
