US Intelligence agencies overheard Russian officials discussing Donald Trump and his associates way back in 2015.

Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal:

Investigators are re-examining conversations detected by U.S. intelligence agencies in spring 2015 that captured Russian government officials discussing associates of Donald Trump, according to current and former U.S. officials, a move prompted by revelations that the president’s eldest son met with a Russian lawyer last year.

In some cases, the Russians in the overheard conversations talked about meetings held outside the U.S. involving Russian government officials and Trump business associates or advisers, these people said.

The 2015 conversations were detected several months before Mr. Trump declared his candidacy for the White House. The conversations have been in investigators’ possession for some time, but officials said the Donald Trump Jr. news this week prompted them to look at them again.

In 2015, intelligence agencies weren’t sure what to make of the surveillance reports, which they viewed as vague and inconclusive, the current and former officials said. But the volume of the mentions of Trump associates by the Russians did have officials asking each other, “What’s going on?” one former official said.

Now, in light of the release of emails Tuesday by the president’s eldest son, describing a 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer, investigators are going back to those early reports. They are seeking new leads as they probe whether the Trump campaign colluded in what several U.S. intelligence agencies say was a Russian government-sponsored effort to meddle in the election to benefit Mr. Trump.

As the Cheshire Cat would say,  "Curiouser and curiouser."

But wait, there's more.

Courtesy of McClatchy:

Investigators at the House and Senate Intelligence committees and the Justice Department are examining whether the Trump campaign’s digital operation – overseen by Jared Kushner – helped guide Russia’s sophisticated voter targeting and fake news attacks on Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Congressional and Justice Department investigators are focusing on whether Trump’s campaign pointed Russian cyber operatives to certain voting jurisdictions in key states – areas where Trump’s digital team and Republican operatives were spotting unexpected weakness in voter support for Hillary Clinton, according to several people familiar with the parallel inquiries.

Also under scrutiny is the question of whether Trump associates or campaign aides had any role in assisting the Russians in publicly releasing thousands of emails, hacked from the accounts of top Democrats, at turning points in the presidential race, mainly through the London-based transparency web site WikiLeaks.

At this point I think that there is no longer any question that members of the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians to change the outcome of the 2016 election, the only questions remaining are how many of them were involved, and what exactly did they do?

    1. If true, then the following congress that results after 2018 and all the houses and departments have been cleaned out will simply reverse every damned thing these fuckers have done; the rules, the laws, the regulations that have either been passed or eliminated. Put it all back.

While I don't think ALL of them will be wearing orange, it would be delightful to see them all disgraced and kicked out of politics permanently. Especially McConnell. I want the smirk wiped off of that fat fuckers face permanently.

But if there are no legal consequences, I see Ryan and McConnell being re-elected by their uneducated, Deplorable shit for brains constituents. Because, you know that is what Republicans do. Not enough of them have the mental capacity to understand what happened and act on it. They'll just continue to vote R, R, R.

I don't think the uneducated are the majority. Trump garnered that following, but it never ranged in the majority figures. Hillary Clinton won the majority vote for POTUS - not The Donald!

He is in the office of 'questionable leadership' due to the electoral vote....a method that truly needs in depth review!

    1. I think that is exactly what it is going to come down to.

In fact, I think they are going to find that the Russians approached Trump TO run in order to settle his debts.

"Run for president. We'll help you. When you win you will lift sanctions. You will do what we say. You will say what we tell you. We will settle your debts if you do this for us."

In the end, I think it is very possible this is what happened, what ultimately drove Trump to declare his candidacy.

In which case, that would be an impeachable offense and he would be guilty of treasonous acts.

"The Russian lawyer President Donald Trump’s son, son-in-law and campaign chairman met last year with the understanding she would provide damaging information the Russian government had acquired on Hillary Clinton was simultaneously leading a lobbying effort to repeal U.S. sanctions that Russian President Vladimir Putin loathes.

Natalia Veselnitskaya, a lawyer for a powerful Russian oligarch and government official, met with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort on June 9, 2016, at Trump Tower, according to emails Trump Jr. released Tuesday. Veselnitskaya never delivered the damaging information on Clinton, Trump Jr. told The New York Times. But her interests were nevertheless in sync with the Kremlin’s: She was working to repeal the Magnitsky Act, a 2012 law that imposed sanctions on several Russian officials and businessmen.

Moscow was “outraged” by the Magnitsky sanctions, Putin’s then-deputy foreign minister said in 2012, and the Russian government retaliated by banning Americans from adopting Russian children.

Veselnitskaya never registered as a foreign agent, and it’s not clear whether she had Moscow’s financial support in her campaign to reverse the American law. But her efforts were extensive. Last year, she headed a Washington-based nonprofit, the Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative Foundation, that describes itself as “dedicated to overturning the Russian adoption ban.” The group provided the main lobbying thrust for powerful Russian oligarchs and top directors of state-backed entities who were allied with their government in trying to roll back the sanctions, according to lobbying disclosure forms filed with the U.S. Senate."

No wonder Junior's first lie was she wanted to meet about adoptions. Which was saying pretty much the same thing as she wanted to discuss lifting sanctions.

Treasonous Republicans Sellout To Putin By Blocking Russia Scandal Amendments In The House

Republicans refused to allow discussion of amendments that would have kept America safe and blocked Trump from opening the door for future Russia cyber attacks as part of the NDAA.

Here is the list of amendments that Republicans refused to allow discussion and voting on provided to PoliticusUSA by House Armed Services Committee Democrats:

    1). Amendment # 026

...The Republicans would not even allow discussion on amendments that would block Trump from using funds for his cybersecurity cooperation with Russia. They also refused to block Trump from cybersecurity information with Russia. They refused to establish a Russian Threat Response Center, and they refused to condemn Trump for not defending the United States against Russian hacks.

A Barely With It Trump Tries To Blame Loretta Lynch For Don Jr.’s Russia Collusion

At a joint press conference in Paris, Donald Trump finally took a question from a reporter about his son Donald Jr.'s meeting with a Russia government attorney and his answer was to try to blame former Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch for his Trump Jr's problems.

...After lying about his not taking a meeting with a Russian government lawyer, Trump said, “Nothing happened from the meeting. Zero happened from the meeting, and I think the press made a very big deal over something that really a lot of people would do. Now, the lawyer that went to the meeting, I see that she was in the halls of Congress also, and somebody said that her visa or her passport to come into the country was approved by Attorney General Lynch. Now, maybe that’s wrong, I just heard that a little while ago. That’s why she was here, because of Lynch.”

...Trump appeared to be lifeless during the press conference. His answer on Don Jr. was the epitome of the barely with it President that America has come to expect when Donald Trump travels to anywhere overseas. Trump did not look good. He did not sound good, and his effort to blame Loretta Lynch for his son’s Russia collusion was absurd.

Donald Trump has invented a new imaginary friend, a trucker who is upset with the condition of American roads. The "trucker" is the latest in a cast of characters Trump has cited to advocate for his positions, beliefs, and conspiracies.

...Earlier in the year, The New Yorker tried to find “Jim,” but it was also unsuccessful.

“Jim” and the trucker friend appear to be as evasive as the “extremely credible source” Trump once cited to validate his conspiracy theory about President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. Trump also infamously pretended to be “John Barron” and “John Miller,” as he spoke to news outlets to promote himself. Perhaps either Miller or Barron are also truckers.

Apparently Donald Trump Has An Imaginary Xenophobic Friend Named Jim

Between Trump’s regular pattern of lying and the fact that he already has a pattern of making people up, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the media hasn’t been able to find his friend Jim. Oh, and by the way, Jim is kind of a xenophobic asshole.

The way Trump tells it — Jim is a friend who loves Paris and used to visit every year. Yet when Trump travels to the city Thursday for his first time as president, it’s unlikely that Jim will tag along. Jim doesn’t go to Paris anymore. Trump says that’s because the city has been infiltrated by foreign extremists.

Whether Jim exists is unclear. Trump has never given his last name. The White House has not responded to a request for comment about who Jim is or whether he will be on the trip.

Republican Stuns CNN Host, Wants To Starve Americans To Pay For Trump’s Border Wall (VIDEO)

This disgusting suggestion came up when Alisyn Camerota asked King if he would be “comfortable with providing $1.6 billion of taxpayer money — not from Mexico — to bill that wall?” This question was prompted by the House Republicans’ threat to Democrats on Tuesday, where they suggested a government shutdown if $1.6 billion for the border wall wasn’t included in the 2018 budget. King responded:

“Absolutely yes — and more. And I’d throw another $5 billion on the pile, and I would find half of a billion of dollars of that right out of Planned Parenthood’s budget. And the rest of it could come out of food stamps and the entitlements that are being spread out for people who have not worked in three generations.”

Camerota, of course, was speechless. She did a double take and asked:

“You want to take food from people who are on the lowest rung in terms of the nation’s safety net and their children, in terms of foot stamps — you’re happy to take money from them in order to give the $1.6 billion for the border wall?”

King tried to defend himself, stating that the border wall would create jobs.

Protect your vagina France's First Lady, Trump is in the house

President Trump tells first lady of France she's in 'great shape' amid awkward handshake

President Trump decided to shake things up in France, this time saving his awkward greeting for the country’s first lady rather than her husband, Emmanuel Macron.

At one point Trump reportedly told her: "You're in such good shape... beautiful."

He at first offered his hand to her, but at the last minute opted for a hug instead, the pair fumbling to grasp hands as they approached each other.

The French First lady, apparently not quick enough to dodge the gesture, endured an awkward embrace before Trump tightly latched onto a couple of her fingers, waving her hand around and seemingly trying to pull her closer.

The awkward exchange came as Macron and his wife welcomed the first couple to Paris, who accepted a surprise invitation to partake in France’s upcoming Bastille Day festivities.

It’s not the first time the 45th president has struggled to shake off one of the Macrons. In May, Trump and the French leader shared a long and tense handshake during their first-ever meeting in Brussels.

The list of associates and staffers of President Donald Trump who lied about meetings or connections to Russia continues to grow. However, one of those on the list often goes unnoticed and he’s the one that tied the Republican Party to greater cooperation with the Russian government as they were hacking the Democratic Party.

Trump’s national-security policy representative for the Republican National Convention was J.D. Gordon, who previously worked as a Pentagon spokesman from 2005–2009 under the George W. Bush administration. The conservative is also a former Navy officer.

At his urgency, The Republican Party’s platform was changed when it comes to the position on Russia and Ukraine. He was the advisor who pushed to amend the platform to align with Trump’s values, Business Insider reported. The move was a dramatic shift for the GOP.

In Jan. 2017, Gordon told Business Insider that he “never left” his “assigned side table” at the Republican convention. He swore that he didn’t speak publicly at the national security subcommittee meeting either, which is where the amendment was discussed. Attendees called for “providing lethal defense weapons” to Ukraine’s military to fight off the Russian-backed separatists. It ultimately was watered down and changed to say that the GOP advocated for the U.S. “providing appropriate assistance” to Ukraine, with no definition of what “appropriate assistance” meant.

He’s yet another on the list of those Trump staffers and advisors who lied about meetings with Russians.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/jared-kushner-security-clearance_us_596783aae4b0a0c6f1e67433?section=us_politics

"House Republicans voted Thursday to block an effort aimed at revoking the security clearance of White House senior adviser Jared Kushner.

Several members of Congress have questioned the appropriateness of Kushner maintaining a security clearance following bombshell reports that he met with a Kremlin-linked lawyer who promised incriminating information about 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during last year’s campaign. The president’s son-in-law failed to disclose the meeting, as well as several other meetings with Russian officials, on the security clearance form he submitted before the Trump administration took office.

Knowingly omitting such information is a crime. Kushner’s lawyers, however, maintain the omissions were an error and have amended the form.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who chaired the Democratic National Committee during much of last year’s campaign cycle, proposed an amendment targeting Kushner during a House Appropriations Committee markup session Thursday. It was voted down, 22-30, along party lines."
