On the day we learn of the FBI raid Donald Trump's propaganda tabloid goes hard after Paul Manafort.

Kristol might be onto something because the tabloid aggressively accused Manafort of cheating on his wife with a much younger woman, and of wearing his wedding ring while "romping with his 33 year old mistress in the same bed he shares with his wife!"

The horror!

The Enquirer also leaves no doubt that this is a smear campaign in the quotes they use from White House sources: "President Trump has been focused on draining the swamp in Washington D.C." a White House insider said. "Meanwhile one of his trusted advisers was bedding another woman behind his wife's back, betraying her and his country!"

The source that the Enquirer identifies for these details is Manafort's daughters hacked I-Phone.

That hack occurred back in February, and was reported on by multiple news sources in March.

That of course was several months after Manafort was fired from Trump's campaign, and after it started to appear that he might be a liability.

Hmm, now who do we know who is into hacking folks, and leaking their information to pro-Trump media outlets?

Yeah, methinks this is a fairly obvious coordinated effort to smear Paul Manafort before he starts singing at the top of his lungs for Robert Mueller and his investigation team.

Even North Korea Is Laughing At Trump And Not Taking His Threats Seriously

The President has so little credibility that even the crazy dictator who is starving his own people in isolated North Korea refuses to take the threat of US action against them seriously. Trump is a global joke. If North Korea doesn’t respect him enough to take his threats seriously, there is no way that he will be able to keep America safe from terrorism and other threats.

Putin has got his wish. Trump has turned the world’s only superpower into a punchline.

DJT and $arah should NEVER have entered politics. Neither of them have personal pasts that can stand up to scrutiny. They both handle criticism the same way.....blame someone else and trash their reputation. What role models for making America great! Too bad it's the loudest voice and not the honest mouth that gets to be the news these days. May I live long enough to see that bitch Karma have her way with them. Oh, and you, too, Mitch.

They play dirty. Hacking daughters I-Phone. That is just creepy. How old is she?

All the scandal they accuse Paul Manafort of doesn't sound that unusual for the worldly rich. I guess it just pleasure Trump to Have it out there at this point.

Is Manafort involved in the Trump Model Academy case? Didn't I hear Clinton is to be a witness? Other than hurt the wife and children, I don't see how revealing typical man sex affairs is shocking or that big a deal. It's not like anyone will care about Manafort's sex life, if he isn't a rapist.

People care about international crimes and political liars and scams. People want to know about all that.

Trump and enquirer friend are just pleasuring themselves.

Trump must spend fortunes collecting data on his friends and everyone that serves him incase he needs to blackmail them one day. I really don't understand why he and his Enquirer buddy would bother to let the world know what they do with friends. It is not like they can blackmail Manafort now. Most of the smut is not that bad, considering the group of people involved.

Going after the daughter, that is bad.
Trump does project and most of what he says and does against others are things he is guilty of doing.

As Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election continues to escalate, Senate Democrat Richard Blumenthal warned that the president is likely to double down on his effort to obstruct the investigation and bully anyone involved in the inquiry.

In an interview on MSNBC, Blumenthal said he expects “additional Trump threats” as the investigation continues to rage on.

Now we know why Donald Trump has suddenly begun kissing up to Robert Mueller

...Donald Trump must have feared that Robert Mueller would send FBI agents to bust down his door next, and he must have concluded that the best way to try to stop this was to make Mueller his friend. Of course that’s not how any of this works, but Trump wouldn’t know that. He seems to think he can win over any potential foe by glad-handing them. And so Trump, who not that long ago was beating his chest about firing Mueller, is now reduced to meekly kissing up to him out of pure terror about what comes next.

    http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/trump-kissing-up-to-robert-mueller/4253/

...In any case, what is clear is that the FBI didn’t come loudly banging on the front door of the house, which almost certainly would have woken up Paul Manafort no matter where in the house he was sleeping. This suggests that the agents took advantage of the opportunity to seize whatever documents and evidence they may have come for before they decided to go ahead and wake up Manafort by knocking on his bedroom door.

Russian Air Force jet buzzes Donald Trump’s golf vacation in New Jersey

Troubled by the size and the scope of the pending Sinclair/Tribune television merger, even conservative media players think the deal is bad for democracy.
    (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

In a surprising twist, many of the voices speaking out against the emergence of a “Trump TV” behemoth are coming from Donald Trump’s side of the aisle.

Christopher Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax and a close Trump ally, slammed the pending merger between the Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tribune Media, insisting that the move “cannot be justified” and that it will “harm” American democracy.

And Ruddy is not the only conservative media player rejecting the Trump-friendly, $3.9 billion deal currently pending at the Federal Communications Commission.

Former Fox News host Glenn Beck signed off on a letter to congressional leaders that denounced the proposed merger for posing a threat to “the very freedom of expression cherished by people regardless of political persuasion.”

And Huffington Post reports that Charles Herring, the CEO of One America News, which has emerged as a Trump White House media darling, is also warning about the proposed Trump TV deal. “The real concern here is if you have an entity with excessive, unbalanced power in the marketplace, which Sinclair arguably has now,” Herring said.

The intramural fighting within the conservative media community highlights how contentious and controversial the looming Sinclair/Tribune merger is.

It also evinces how deep the fears run that the new entity will not only warp the commercial marketplace, but exist as a White House sounding board, with more than 200 stations broadcasting nationwide, including many major markets, and the ability to reach 72 percent of American households.

But will those concerns even be heard? Trump’s FCC seems determined to clear the way for the unprecedented merger, as the FCC chairman himself recently intervened by applying a loophole to the merger in order to make it workable. The FCC seems perfectly willing today to just tear up previous regulations that placed a strict limit on the number of stations one broadcast company could own.

And in Congress, Republicans have shown no interest in questioning the deal.

Media scholar on Trump TV: “This is Orwellian, and it’s happening right now, right here”

The president has launched an online TV network. He’s calling it “real news.”

...As you might imagine, that 90 seconds was stuffed with lies, distortions, and wildly exaggerated claims. The Washington Post has a nice point-by-point breakdown of the segment here.

The “real news” series is part of a broader “Trump TV” project, which is based in Trump Tower and run by Lara Trump, the wife of Trump’s son Eric Trump and a former Inside Edition producer. (Lara launched the series last week with the words, “I bet you haven’t heard about all the accomplishments the president had this week because there’s so much fake news out there!”)

During the campaign, Trump was widely rumored to be using his platform as the GOP nominee to launch an online TV network. Evidently, that dream didn’t die once he got to the White House.

Trump is selling this as “real news” even though it’s filmed, produced, and scripted at Trump Tower and paid for by Trump’s reelection fund. But to many observers, this is indistinguishable from state propaganda. “Feels eerily like so many state-owned channels I've watched in other countries,” tweeted Michael McFaul, the former ambassador to Russia.

Obama warned Trump on North Korea. But Trump’s ‘fire and fury’ strategy wasn’t what Obama aides expected.

...Trump’s rhetoric is “a departure from the temperate, consistent and balanced statements of past presidents that combined expressions of firm resolve with an openness to peaceful resolution through negotiations. Nobody is going to beat the North Koreans in a hyperbole contest.”

Obama highlighted North Korea in his meeting with Trump two days after the election. Aides who traveled with Obama to an Asia-Pacific economic forum in Peru in late November recalled him saying that Trump seemed to “sit up and take notice.”

The Obama team expected Trump to undertake the sort of deep-dive review and interagency decision-making process that it had employed, Rhodes said. Obama was frequently criticized by Republicans as being too deliberative, or, as Trump called him on the campaign trail, weak and indecisive. But Rhodes said the goal was to produce unity and clarity across the administration, rather than the kind of whipsaw tone and message that has marked the North Korea issue under Trump.
