And now for something completely different. The History of the World: Every Year.

This is why I now say that we are all Africans.

Because that is literally where we ALL came from.

I just watched this and let it wash over me.

My only complaint is that it all moves so fast after we get into the CE, though I appreciate how it all fades to black after 2016.

You know, when the Anti-Christ was elected.

You'd think that the Bible thumpers would realize this, experts that they are, but they're too busy touting Satan for the total eclipse last month and those nasty LGBTQers for causing hurricanes.

I've banged my forehead on the table so often, I've left a permanent dent.

Perhaps he/she is, but only for as far back as 8,000 years, i.e. around 6,000 B.C. Of course, it's possible this person believes that's when the Earth was created, so anything earlier doesn't count.

I've been aware of this dating for many years, but couldn't remember where I'd read it. So I googled: evolution of white skin and got some recent information.

      http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015/04/how-europeans-evolved-white-skin

The origins of Europeans have come into sharp focus in the past year as researchers have sequenced the genomes of ancient populations, rather than only a few individuals. By comparing key parts of the DNA across the genomes of 83 ancient individuals from archaeological sites throughout Europe, the international team of researchers reported earlier this year that Europeans today are a mix of the blending of at least three ancient populations of hunter-gatherers and farmers who moved into Europe in separate migrations over the past 8000 years. …

Now, a new study from the same team drills down further into that remarkable data to search for genes that were under strong natural selection—including traits so favorable that they spread rapidly throughout Europe in the past 8000 years.

      http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/how-europeans-evolved-to-have-white-skin-starting-from-around-8000-years-ago-10160120.html

Europeans have not always been light skinned, and Caucasians are in fact a fairly new development on the continent, relatively speaking.

According to a new study reported in Science Magazine, it has been found that Caucasions are the product of “a patchwork of evolution in different places” across Europe, while scientist have discovered three genes that produce light skin – both of which have played a part in the lightening of Europeans’ skin colour over the past 8,000 years.

There are (surprise!) many more relevant hits.

I've done my 23 and me DNA and I'm 95% mixed European white and then 3% Asian (2% undecipherable)

Not what I expected since my dad's family came to Northern America in the 1600's and our family still owns and give tours at our historic family plantation in the East. Fully expected to have some black, but no, just some weird 3% Asian!

    Life is funny, no?
