In defiance of Donald Trump FEMA spokesperson says that they are not abandoning Puerto Rico.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

In a tweet Thursday afternoon, FEMA spokeswoman Eileen Lainez wrote that the agency “will be w/Puerto Rico, USVI, every state, territory impacted by a disaster every day, supporting throughout their response & recovery.”

Her tweet came five hours after Trump took to Twitter to say the island’s financial crisis “looms largely of their own making” and is due to the poor state of its infrastructure and electrical system and its governor’s “total lack of … accountability.”

Shortly after her initial tweet, Lainez sent FEMA’s latest update on support to Puerto Rico through the social media platform, a reminder that it will take time for the U.S. territory of 3.4 million people to recover, but that residents are seeing some services being restored.

“FEMA, in coordination and partnership with 36 federal departments and agencies, remains focused on helping the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with life-sustaining commodities and other essential services,” the agency stated in its press release from Wednesday. “As more businesses open and public services are restored, quality of life will continue to improve for many residents.”

Well it's good that some people still understand the responsibility of government.

It's like everybody's job these days is explaining what the president meant, or telling people to ignore him altogether.

    2. After Nixon left office in disgrace, it was well nigh impossible to find anyone who claimed to have voted for him.

    3. 2:14. You don't escape that easy. You voted for Walker. You failed to recall Walker. You voted for him again. You OWN that fuck Paul Ryan.

You may not have voted for him personally but your state has put nothing but assholes in D.C. You get tarred with the Wisconsin brush.

  4. Did anyone catch Bill Murray on Colbert last night and wait until the very end when he performed with his ensemble?

I was a West Side Story medley. I had issues with his choice to occasionally sing parts but you couldn’t fault his last interpretation of “America”. His last line got outstanding applause and I have no doubt a standing ovation: “Puerto Rico’s in America.”

    Bravo, Bill.

I had the same thought yesterday about people who "explain" which is most of the time spinning or damage control of what Trump says or tweets. That includes Sarah Sanders too.
They do not provide details to further explain or inform the public. What we have learned is to not trust or believe Trump ever and he is accountable for that.

I believe it is true that in politics and reporting sometimes there is speculation by the media as well as the public. My observations of White House press briefings is the communications person must tap dance around to shut down questions to nail down where Trump stands, meant or said on issues. Trump is increasing nsistent, routinely picks fights and bullies taunting people which wreaks chaos, havoc and fosters confusion and doubt. A sane responsible person would strive to communicate clearly, not lie with each breath or tweet his anger outbursts.

The nicest thing I can say is that Trump displayed his inhumanity with his sarcastic and uncalled for tweet yesterday that help will not stay "forever". Perhaps Rachel Maddow's reporting about deaths and the US Comfort ship triggered Trump to lash out.

Trump isn't interested in the responsibility of government. He is in it for wealth, bullying, and self aggrandizement. It is all about feeding his narcissism. He is basically a monster. His need to be a cruel ass is undeniable.

Yeah, people of the United States. Pay no attention to the Republicans behind the curtain. They are just that nasty little guy from Kansas playing a magic show. Just tap your red shoes and we will all be home soon. The witch of the North will have a house landed on his mustardy head.

Didn't note the 'defiance' you speak of. Of course FEMA isn't abandoning PR. Trump just enjoys trolling the liberals and getting their panties in a wad.

The people in Puerto Rico also heard what he said.

Does he also enjoy trolling people who have been devastated by a natural disaster?

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

      Trumps tweets:

"Puerto Rico survived the Hurricanes, now a financial crisis looms largely of their own making." says Sharyl Attkisson. A total lack of.....

...accountability say the Governor. Electric and all infrastructure was disaster before hurricanes. Congress to decide how much to spend....

...We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!"

Exactly at what point did he say they were 'abandoning' PR Gryph? Or were you just 'ad libbing' because you hate him and he doesn't fit the political mold?

@Gryphen; Trump couldn't get on tv fast enough to assure the winery owners in Sonoma that the gov't is standing by them and will not hesitate to do "whatever it takes" to build them back up. Guess we know how much he values white people over brown ones.

@1:19; are you pretending the PR had no electricity and no running water before the storm? Really, that's your argument? Also FEMA is still all over Florida, and Harvey was, what, 2 months ago?!? No sign of them leaving.

trump does not have a working brain. he isn't smart enough or connected enough to troll anyone. we are seeing what he really thinks. it's mean, and self centered and racist. he does not care if brown or poor people die, which will happen to me without health care.

In all honesty Puerto Rico is basically a third-world situation regarding their infrastructure.
What Trump should be focusing on is improving that with the complete re-build of their grid yet as all he focuses on is money.

I've vacationed there a few times and when you leave San Juan it is very third-world, but it is American so we can leave them better than they were.

      G. What happened to people in America is that they are slowly being brainwashed by Trump to show their true selfish selves. It was noted years ago that for most Americans, if it doesn't happen in their backyards, then they don't care. Trump plays on this ugly American persona. He embodies it.
But until it hits us where it hurts Americans will yawn and turn to the next channel.
The leader leads and people are being led to be heartless.
Hope Hollywood rises to the occasion and do a fundraiser. They need to heal from their own Hurricane Harvey.

Hey, you. Fucking asswipe @1:19. It's been what, not even a month and the orange shitgibbons is saying FEMA can't stay forever?. You think that's not a threat? Now look at past disasters to see how long FEMA stays. In some cases it is measured in years. As in Katrina with people in FEMA trailers that long. Under the best of circumstances, how long does it take to get payment from insurance and rebuild a home? Now, imagine that you also can't bring a semi on site because road washed out and needs to be rebuilt. Now the adjusters are 50 times as busy.

And, oh yeah supply companies can't keep stock of supplies and building.materials because delivery is difficult also because roads.and BTW PR is a fucking island which means there ARE no domestic sources.

You know I usually don't wish bad on anyone, but in your case, I'll make an exception. Exceptional disease, illness and natural disaster are things you really need to become closely acquainted with. Seems the only way you ReTHUG assholes develop even a smidge of empathy.

Sure, and do it better. Screw electric grid. Go solar. Screw landlines, go all cell. Amazing opportunity, but the orange shitgibbon is to stupid to see that. PR should. Haiti is heading that way.

4:15 you obviously have never been to PR and are totally clueless. I've lived there. PR has basically been a huge patch job forever. Trump threatened nobody, he is just pushing back on Mayor Cruz because she is a lying sack and just a political opportunist. FEMA and other Fed agencies will still be there years from now. You know why? Because they have been there already forever! Mainland USA has been financially propping up PR ever since it became a US territory! That isn't going to stop! And in 20years PR will still be the same, you know why? Corruption.

    13. Puerto Rico's financial problems weren't "of their own making."

Like much of everything else, it was thrust upon them by the U.S.

I don't understand why so few people have been moved to the military hospital boat Comfort? Only 8 people out of a capacity of 400.
