Supposedly anti-abortion Congressman who tried to convince his mistress to get an abortion, will retire. Update!

Courtesy of The Hill:

Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of his term next year after a report that he suggested a woman he was having an affair with get an abortion.

In a statement to Pittsburgh CBS affiliate KDKA, Murphy said that he would not seek reelection in 2018 and would instead spend his remaining time in Congress working on mental health care reform.

"After discussions with my family and staff, I have come to the decision that I will not seek reelection to Congress at the end of my current term," he said.

"In the coming weeks I will take personal time to seek help as my family and I continue to work through our personal difficulties and seek healing. I ask you to respect our privacy during this time.”

Yes pay attention to me when I am advocating to take away a woman's right to choose, but please give me privacy when I get caught being a hypocritical douchenozzle.

I think this might be my feel good story of the day.

Update: And he has now resigned

219 Republican House Members Just Voted To Cut Medicaid, Medicare, And Public Education To Give Tax Breaks to Millionaires And Corporations.

Earlier today, the House of Representatives voted 219 to 206 in favor of the Republican House budget resolution that proposed $5.8 trillion in cuts over the next decade to Medicare, Medicaid, education, infrastructure and other critical services while paving the way for trillions of dollars in tax cuts that would mostly benefit the wealthy and corporations. The vote was almost entirely along party lines, with 18 Republicans joining all Democrats against the resolution.

The budget resolution also set up a procedure for fast-track consideration of tax legislation, enabling Senate Republicans to bypass bipartisanship to pass a tax plan with just 51 votes, rather than 60 votes typically required for such contentious legislation.

...These large tax cuts will balloon the deficit and further jeopardize funding for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and education. Included in the $5.8 trillion in cuts to services under the House-passed budget are Medicaid and other healthcare programs ($1.5 trillion), Medicare ($487 billion), and nutrition assistance ($150 billion).

“This budget resolution is the first step toward an immoral tax scheme that will hand trillions of dollars to millionaires and corporations at the expense of millions of America’s working families, many of whom will actually see a tax increase” said Frank Clemente, executive director of Americans for Tax Fairness. “These tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations will ultimately be paid for by cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, education, disability services, and other national priorities, while the expansion of the deficit will further threaten Social Security. The Republicans who voted to advance this plan owe their constituents an explanation.”

Below is an explanation of the tax cuts proposed under the Trump-GOP tax framework compared with the spending cuts proposed in the House budget resolution.

    1. So they basically did the same thing under tax reform as they were proposing under repeal and replace. Only they widened the net to really screw the public.

And that fast track will last for a fiscal YEAR. They get a year to try to pass this with a 51% vote.

And this on top of letting CHIP expire.

Asswipe Republicans are giving Democratic candidates so much ammunition to use against them. But will they? Probably not. Nor will any candidates get support from the DNC except those that are "sure things" to win.

And that's why we are where we are.

Trump Wants to Censor the Media

The president’s call for a Senate investigation into news outlets for publishing unflattering stories about him is an attack on freedom of the press.

Frustrated with a set of damning reports about his relationship with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson—including the nugget that Tillerson called him a “moron” (perhaps with an R-rated modifier)—the president offered a new suggestion on Twitter Thursday morning: Why not explore government censorship of the press?

  5. End of term next year. Hoping that people will forget he made this statement when he runs again. That the public will forget about the pregnant mistress or some other scandal will be big enough to take attention in the news cycle.

So, after consulting with aides and family, he decided .... Yeah, right, they said "You are SCREWED" so rather than spend all that lovely money in donations, he is sneaking out before he is thrown out by voters. Don't you just love these family values repubs?

Only a mentally ill, dysfunctional, immoral person could seek “revenge” in response to a Mayor’s pleas for help because the people of her city were dying! Even if you disagree with her point of view, or felt she was over-reacting, “revenge” is not an emotion that would normally be considered by any Christian, right-minded person. Revenge is something an evil, vindictive person might seek as a result of a perceived criticism. Yet REVENGE was the word Sarah used. Palin and Trump are now attacking Mayor Cruz for her pleas for help.! This is Sarah’s tweet:

    WHAT'S WITH THE SUNGLASSES?
Melania even wears them at night.

Melania Trump sparks Twitter outrage over her sunglasses following Las Vegas trip

    By Aol.com Editors

    Oct 5th, 2017 at 4:01PM

Melania Trump's latest fashion move is raising some eyebrows.

After returning from Las Vegas to visit the victims of the horrific mass shooting that occurred over the weekend at the Route 91 Harvest festival, the first lady walked hand-in-hand with President Trump on the South Lawn in an all-black look that sparked controversy.

The 47-year-old beauty wore a Dolce & Gabbana pencil skirt, a black long sleeve and a chunky leather belt that accentuated her teeny waist.

😂 However, it was her sunglasses -- that she was wearing in the dark 🤣 -- that garnered major criticism.

"I'm making a public plea to Melania Trump: stop with the sunglasses (and the heels at disaster areas)," one Twitter user wrote.

Another user posted: "I wonder if Melania Trump wears big sunglasses in public so no one can see her rolling her eyes at the B.S. her hubby says."

The first lady was also criticized just a day earlier in Puerto Rico, where she was also sporting sunglasses while greeting victims of Hurricane Maria. Several people took to Twitter to express their outrage that she didn't remove her sunglasses while in Puerto Rico.

Melania donned white denim, a army green jacket and a pair of Timberland boots upon landing in San Juan. Just hours earlier, she was spotted leaving the White House in a midnight blue sweater, cigarette trousers and a pair of her go-to stilettos in a navy hue, defying critics for the third time with her ensemble.

    Another feel good?

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/harvey-weinstein-harassment-claims-put-obamas-clintons-tough-spot-1046107

Weinstein was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton's recent presidential run and donated to her political campaigns about 10 times between 1999 and 2016, according to a review of campaign finance records.

Weinstein threw a fundraiser for Clinton in June 2016 at his home in Manhattan, co-hosted by several A-list actors. He also reportedly attended several other fundraisers for Clinton in New York City during the campaign. Hollywood, generally, was firmly behind Clinton's campaign, so Weinstein was not alone in his support for the former secretary of state.

He also hosted fundraisers benefiting Barack Obama's reelection campaign in 2012 and donated several times to his campaign in 2011 and 2012. Weinstein was considered a "bundler" for Obama's campaign, as he raised $679,275 for it.

I still hope that the late-term abortion ban happens because really, if you don't know by 20 weeks that you want to scrape that fetus out of you then you really should just have it.

Had a few friends that had 20-week abortions in seattle and they were induced and actually gave birth to a dead fetus. That's not really cool, either for fetus or mom. You should be prepare at 16 weeks at the latest to get rid of it if it is genetically compromised or you just don't want it. Period.

I had an abortion at 24 weeks because that was when I learned my baby had a fatal heart condition that would cause him enormous suffering if delivered. How dare you speak so callously of the most painful time in a person's life. Have you no decency whatsoever?
