This is what helped get Trump elected.

Courtesy of NPR:

A majority of whites say discrimination against them exists in America today, according to a poll released Tuesday from NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

"If you apply for a job, they seem to give the blacks the first crack at it," said 68-year-old Tim Hershman of Akron, Ohio, "and, basically, you know, if you want any help from the government, if you're white, you don't get it. If you're black, you get it."

More than half of whites — 55 percent — surveyed say that, generally speaking, they believe there is discrimination against white people in America today. Hershman's view is similar to what was heard on the campaign trail at Trump rally after Trump rally. Donald Trump catered to white grievance during the 2016 presidential campaign and has done so as president as well.

Notable, however, is that while a majority of whites in the poll say discrimination against them exists, a much smaller percentage say that they have actually experienced it. Also important to note is that 84 percent of whites believe discrimination exists against racial and ethnic minorities in America today.

Yes poor white people.

They have the majority of the money, still firmly hold the reins of power in his country, and are over represented in Washington.

And yet THEY are the ones being discriminated against.

Talk about snowflakes.

And all Donald Trump had to do was agree with them that THEY are the oppressed people in this country, and promise to ensure that they would never have to surrender control of the country to the other so long as he was in the White House and they voted for him overwhelmingly.

So easily manipulated.

So easily controlled.

Almost enough to make me despise my own race.

Fascinating -- 55% think whites are discriminated against, but 84% say racial and ethnic minorities are discriminated against. So, EVERYONE is discriminated against, to them, I guess. If everyone is discriminated against, then doesn't that mean no discrimination?

logical consistency (the hallmark of Aristotle's rational animal-what sets humans apart from other animals) is not their forte.

  2. There are only two races, they each come in all colors: there are the descendants of Man, and the descendants of animals. The Bible tells me so. It also tells me fearmonger Donald Trump is the Beast (Revelation 13:4).

  3. In the Ozarks there appear to be only white people. My neighbors are on disability, food stamps, etc. Crime no matter if it is theft or drugs is rampant....a good part due to poverty. Young women become pregnant and
marry young. It is a vicious cycle and it seems no one sees it....very discouraging.

That's so sad. And probably the heroin epidemic is there too huh? Our problems as a nation just keep getting worst. Korea doesn't even have to bomb us because we are self destructive as it is. We need leaders that know how to help solve problems not make them worst. But ah, well. We were a good thought when it came to being a country that was gonna be the beacon of democracy. Now we sink to to the bottom of the heap in terms of third world countries because it appears we now vote for scumbags like Trump.

"No one sees it" who are you implying is that no one? The white residents themselves? Or the government? If the latter, my experience in such areas when a government does try to assist is "we don't want the government in our business." No matter what it is, no matter how it will make their lives easier or better , they resist, then bitch and moan when they see someone else getting the same help they refused.

My brother was openly discriminated for his age at an interview. He is 69 but so fit he could pass for 55.

My siblings and I were raised and paid attention to teachers and college professors about how to be the best candidate for a job instead of blaming people if not offered a job.

What we have learned is that more people than any of us realized before live believing and blame shifting to scapegoating evading personal accountability and change or adapting to change. Donald Trump is a leader for that ideology and masterfully tapped into that.

On an upside about Trump’s campaign promises many people suffering economically heard that he would bring their past jobs back to them in manufacturing and coal delivering “wealth” to them and reduce their taxes. Trump must have been a beacon of light to recreate lives and jobs they had now in depressed areas. Trump emphasized persuasively that manufacturing would return from overseas and employers would increase salaries.

In contrast from Obama, Sanders and Clinton emphasized higher education andtraining programs for e en jobs of the future in respect to change and realistically because of low costs and low wages overseas our country can not compete with in manufacturing. They also sought jobs via infrastructure rebuilding and even upgrading railways. This presented adaptation and change in contrast to making America what it was, going backwards.

ANd that backward simply isn't happening. The technologies that employed tens of thousands of people in dangerous jobs at family supporting wages are now being done by robots and technologies that require only thousands. Even if it were slave labor, it would end up being more expensive and of lower quality than the technologized method.

Maybe whites are discriminated against but why do they have to enslave black people, and take lands to get vindicated? I'd say if whites want to be the top dog they need to get educated. That's why Hitler hated the educated because he was not the top race. He was basically lazy. He wanted things easy. What's easier than just killing the people you think that are standing in your way? If you are a superior race you would not need to instigate hate and commit genocide. People need to realize that we have two roads to go down as a human race, the dumb road, or the smart one. There's not better than you road. There might a rich road to go down but you'd have to be pretty corrupt to go down that road. Which is where I think Putin went, and now he's showing the Donald that road. Rape your' countries resources for yourself, not the people, by using thug tactics. There, there, aren't we the superior race now?

And gee, Old Fart Tim, what about that Medicare that the rest of us can't get? I know many older people with very healthy bank accounts who don't pay anything for their diabetes/heart condition/emphysema meds and procedures to the tune of thousands of $, brought on by lives of overeating sugars and fats and smoking. Yet my super healthy self has to pay through the nose (or my employer reduces my salary to give me that benefit.)

WATCH: This Amazingly Aware Company Has Created A Brilliant Way To Document Trump’s Dangerous Tweets

...Since Trump’s tweets become more alarming by the day and are far too numerous to constantly keep up with, an awesome company has found a way to help do it – and it’s super rad. The good folks at Parse/Error have created the “Political Lamp,” which is an entertaining piece of decor that lights up in a lightening storm with every Trump tweet. They say they like to be politically aware, and decided that Trump’s Twitter feed is important to document because of what the orange fascist represents:

“He perfectly embodies a dangerous era. A world where the words of one man … can endanger the fate of millions by spreading the ghost of nuclear war on the planet.”

Parse/Error is correct. These are dangerous times. The GOP-controlled Congress might be worrying over tax cuts because they are craven cowards who are terrified of Trump lighting them up on Twitter, but they’d better serve the nation and the world – as well as their own places in history – by doing all they can to rid the world of the threat of Trump before he kills us all.

"“[O’Reilly] asked if anything was known about her sex life,” Panter writes. “He asked if she used any illegal drugs. He also asked if anything was known about her financial situation and marriage. In essence, the leadership of Fox, including their ‘HR’ head/counsel and O’Reilly, who held my ex’s career in their hands (and whom O’Reilly was also harassing) was demanding information to attack another victim.”

FB"I leave you with a sneak peak from the book that I think is particularly relevant. It is the final sentences from the Acknowledgements. And I believe every word of it. Thank you.
"...I would like to give a tip of the Stetson to all of you. I believe deeply that this nation will thrive, not only because of its institutions but also because of its people. One of the great joys of these recent years on social media has been to read your many thoughtful comments. Seeing my fellow citizens and people from other countries eloquently and passionately sharing their hopes, fears, and dreams for the future of the United States and its place in the world fills me with optimism.
My greatest desire for this book is that it encourage conversation and debate about what it means to be an American today, and more broadly over the course of this nation’s history. If we stand firm in our better values, do not shy away from challenging injustice, and can talk to one another rather than past one another, I am confident we can find the common ground that unites us."
