Well this sounds promising. Update!

Courtesy of WGBH News:

National security expert Juliette Kayyem is predicting news from Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation will be announced within the next month.

“I think it is safe to say that before Thanksgiving ... something’s going to drop with Mueller,” she said on Boston Public Radio today. “The pace is too much right now. Every 12 hours we’re now dealing with a piece of this story at a pace we haven’t seen.”

Kayyem was prompted to make her prediction by the buzz surrounding a story about how Hillary Clinton’s campaign funded what would eventually become the famous “Trump-Russia Dossier” that surfaced in January.

Kayyem speculated that the pace of stories critical of Hillary Clinton represents “a recognition by the White House team” that Mueller is getting close to something substantive as a result of his investigation.

Kayyem pointed out that Mueller has interviewed former Press Secretary Sean Spicer and former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. “This is so close to the Oval Office now, if not in the Oval Office, that all of this [dossier news] to me is just background noise to what Mueller is going to deliver,” she said.

“This is more than an obstruction charge. There is something big underlying the obstruction.”

This is essentially where my thinking has been lately as well.

However hearing it come from a national security expert is certainly encouraging.

Update: According to CNN the Mueller investigation has filed its first charges:

A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter.

The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge. Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said. It is unclear what the charges are.

A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.

If this is accurate it is a HUGE deal, and may indicate that what this national security expert mentioned in the original article was dead on in her assessment.

There has been an inordinate amount of deflection and diversion this week from the orange shit-head. Now it's been reported that the Mueller grand jury has filed its first charges; however, the orders were sealed by a federal judge. GOOD!!

The orange shit-head and his enablers are shitting bricks right now; Mr. Mueller is zeroing in on them! My guess is either Flynn, or Manafort. It's a safe bet that one of them will sing to avoid doing heavy time!! Tick-tock!!

Yeah, I’m guessing Flynn AND Manafort, depending on who cut a deal.

I’m also sure neither Spicer or Priebus committed perjury to cover Trump’s ass. Probably more than happy to use the testimony as an excuse to hang him out to dry.

About the same time it comes out that the Green Berets killed in Niger were seen in baseball caps. "According to the Nigerien witness, some U.S. troops were wearing T-shirts and baseball caps, but no protective body armor, the day before they were ambushed by nearly 50 ISIS fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades, mortars, and heavy machine guns.
“I was surprised that the Americans would go out into the zone with such a light convoy and no air cover, no drones to keep watch over them,” the Nigerien soldier told CNN."

That's incorrect. Under Article II Section 2 of the Constitution, the President can pardon prior to a charge or conviction. It's called a pre-emptive pardon and the perfect example is Gerald Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon. Ford absolved the former president of "all offenses against the United States which he … has committed or may have committed or taken part in" between the date of his inauguration in 1969 and his resignation in August 1974.

Robert Mueller just filed criminal charges in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal. I think I know what they are.

...Earlier today Dana Boente, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, announced that he was resigning/retiring. As Palmer Report pointed out at the time, Robert Mueller has been running Trump-Russia grand juries in Boente’s district, so Boente’s retirement suggests that Mueller has now gotten everything he needed out of those grand juries – including sealed indictments. Then hours later, former CIA Director James Woolsey confirmed to the media that he’s begun cooperating with Mueller.

Woolsey was an eyewitness to Michael Flynn’s plot with the Turkish government to kidnap a Turkish citizen in Pennsylvania and ship him to Turkey. Thus, Woolsey’s cooperation almost certainly means that he’s given up Flynn, in exchange for leniency or immunity.

    http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/charges-robert-mueller/5732/

Three clear signs Robert Mueller is about to drop the Trump-Russia indictment hammer

For all the noise, the hoopla, and the sideshow distractions, the central question in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal continues to be a straightforward one: when will Special Counsel Robert Mueller break out the indictments that will change everything? In the past few days we’ve seen three very different signs that all suggest those indictments are coming a lot sooner than some might have been expecting.

The first sign was the announced resignation/retirement today of Dana Boente, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. There’s no controversy here. He’s not quitting in protest of anything. There are no signs that Trump is strategically trying to shove him out the door. He’s simply walking away, which is not surprising, considering he’s an Obama appointee who appears to have no love for Trump. This is key, because Mueller has been running Trump-Russia grand juries in Boente’s district. Boente’s decision to retire suggests that Mueller has now gotten everything he needed from those grand juries – including sealed indictments.

The second sign came when respected national security expert and CNN analyst Juliette Kayyem stated her view that Mueller is likely to drop the hammer on Trump within a few weeks (link). She has a history of correctly reading the Trump-Russia probe landscape, and she knows how to interpret the signs that we’re now seeing out of Mueller’s corner. But the clearest sign is coming from within Trump’s own inner circle.

The real reason Chuck Grassley scandalously joined Team Russia this week in the Trump Russia scandal

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, the powerful head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has spent the bulk of 2017 quietly leading the way in helping to further the investigation into Donald Trump’s Russia scandal. He’s signed off on every investigative move the Democrats on his committee have asked him for, from subpoenas on down. Yet this week Grassley suddenly, aggressively and almost cartoonishly switched sides – suggesting that something scandalous is now going on with him.

This week Senator Grassley ceased giving any cooperation to the Democrats on his committee at all, and instead decided to launch his own sham investigation into a series of imaginary scandals centered around Russia and Hillary Clinton. Grassley is even calling for a special prosecutor to investigate these fake new scandals that he and his allies have made up out of thin air. People don’t go from quietly doing the right thing, to suddenly and humiliatingly doing the wrong thing, unless something forces them to. Grassley’s case is remarkable, because Trump and the GOP have zero leverage over him – raising the question of who does have leverage.

Grassley will be eighty-nine years old when his current term ends. He’s rather obviously not running for reelection. That means the Senate Republican leadership and the wealthiest GOP donors can’t control him by threatening to withhold future campaign funds, and Donald Trump can’t control him by threatening to mount a future primary challenge against him. Yet something or someone powerful has clearly prompted Grassley to go all-in for team Russia this week, after he’d spent all year on the other side. It’s enough to raise the question of whether the Kremlin is now blackmailing Grassley into doing its bidding.

Chuck Grassley has two very specific, and very strange, ties to the Kremlin.

Right Wing Site Tied Billionaire First Funded Fusion GPS Trump File

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/right-wing-site-tied-billionaire-first-funded-fusion-gps-trump-file

This morning, Donald Trump once again worked on trying to obstruct justice and obscure truth by pressuring the Justice Department to lift a gag order on a FBI confidential informant in order to bolster the Fox News smokescreen around Uranium One.

It's as if the restrictions putting a firewall between the White House and the Justice Department with regard to criminal cases never existed with this guy. And then he has the nerve to call the stupid Uranium One bogus story as bad as Watergate? Seriously?

Jim Acosta saw right through Trump's smoke and mirrors.

"I was wondering, why did the president involve himself in the Uranium One investigation?," Acosta asked Huckabee Sanders. "Are you trying to gin up your own Russia investigation to rival the one up on Capitol Hill?"

    Of course they are, Jim!

He also asked whether Trump actually had evidence and where is the president's evidence of collusion with Russia, which of course he doesn't have and which of course Huckabee Sanders ducked as she hid behind the brick wall of recalcitrance.

As for Trump's attempt to muddy the waters with a non-story, Sanders would like us to believe that it's all in the name of transparency! "The president has pushed for transparency if that's what you are referring to when dealing with Congress," she answered. "I know that's something new for a president to push for transparency. but that's what he has done and that was the purpose what he was trying to do."

Acosta pushed on the collusion question again, choosing to leave the bogus claim of "transparency" alone, but Sanders was quite comfortable behind her stone wall, simply claiming she'd already "addressed that pretty thoroughly," which is to say not at all.

This is, of course, because Trump tweeted this factless claim about Hillary while watching his favorite show this morning...

Russia is furious. That means the sanctions are working.

In yet another display of spitting fury, the Russian state this week put Bill Browder on the Interpol list, an international register of “most wanted” criminals. This was the fifth time Russia had issued an international arrest warrant for Browder, a businessman who once worked in the country. Wearily, Interpol lifted the warrant on Thursday. But the gesture once again confirmed something few have yet acknowledged: The sanctions on Russia are working.

Browder’s real “crime”? He persuaded another government, this time the Canadians, to pass a “Magnitsky Act,” a bill applying sanctions on Russian tax officials and police involved in a vast scam, one that involved changing the names of companies, hijacking their bank accounts and using them to steal money from the Russian state. Browder’s lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, discovered the scam. He was investigated and imprisoned, beaten and deprived of medical care until he died. Ever since, Browder has crusaded to punish those responsible by depriving them of access to Western banks, Western vacation homes and Western educations for their children.

As I’ve argued before, the Russian government really, really hates the Magnitsky sanctions, and it hates them with disproportionate fury. Recently, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, jeered at Browder during a news conference. The Russian lawyer who met with Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and Donald Trump Jr. in June 2016 — the one whose fixer dangled the tantalizing offer of “official documents and information that would incriminate” Hillary Clinton — was seeking to have the Magnitsky sanctions lifted, too.

...But it’s a mistake to imagine that sanctions have no impact. It was foolish for the State Department, in an amateurish attempt at consolidation, to shut down its office on sanctions. This is a sophisticated policy tool, it has its place, and it’s having an effect. Russia’s spitting fury is the proof.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/russia-is-furious-that-means-the-sanctions-are-working/2017/10/27/2b8f63dc-bb33-11e7-a908-a3470754bbb9_story.html
