Gal Gadot refuses to reprise her role as Wonder Woman until sexual predator Brett Ratner is removed as one of the producers.

Courtesy of Page Six:

“Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot is continuing to battle accused Hollywood sexual harasser Brett Ratner by refusing to sign for a superhero sequel unless the movie-maker is completely killed from the franchise.

A Hollywood source tells Page Six that Gadot — who last month backed out of a dinner honoring Ratner, where she was due to present him with an award — is taking a strong stance on sexual harassment in Hollywood and doesn’t want her hit “Wonder Woman” franchise to benefit a man accused of sexual misconduct.

Ratner’s production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment helped produce “Wonder Woman” as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros. The movie has grossed more than $400 million internationally, and Ratner’s company will take a healthy share of the profits. A Warner Bros. insider explained, “Brett made a lot of money from the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie. Now Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him.”

This may not seem like such a huge deal in the larger scheme of things, but trust me, it is.

Currently women are feeling more empowered than ever to come forward and talk about sexual harassment and their past victimization.

At the same time Wonder Woman has been embraced as an icon of female strength.

For Gadot to use her new position in the movie industry to come out this aggressively, and this publicly, against a powerful member of Hollywood is to give a voice to all of those women who have felt alone and powerless against movie producers, directors, employers, managers, etc. in years past.

Symbolism is important, and what better symbol of feminine strength and power than Wonder Woman herself?

    I'd like to see Steve Mnuchin removed as a producer also and maybe I'll go see the movie(s).

    So beautiful successful money-making actors are refusing to work with perverts now? Oy.

    And, look over there.... female movie stars are producing their own television series.... and they're damned good. Reese Witherspoon is at it again and Glenn Close has the only series this season whose pilot I didn't switch off.

    Those creeps had just better keep their dicks in their pants and their hands to themselves if they want to continue pulling that fat salary in future.

  4. After this, I would pay to go to a cinema and watch a 10 second clip of Gadot eating a Sandwich.

  6. If they recast over this, they’ll kill the franchise. Same result. If Warner is smart, they’ll buy him out. In the long run cheaper and more profitable. And they can’t blackball her. She doesn’t need Hollywood. She’s in demand worldwide.

    1. Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman.

      Brett Ratner is just some faceless money man behind the scenes, I do not think this will be much of a contest.

      Everyone can be blackballed and replaced. Happens in Hollywood (and regularwood) every day. Not saying it will happen to her necessarily, but she is replaceable.

      Gryph you are older than me, you should already know that Lynda Carter IS wonder woman.

      @7:34 ;-)
      "The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in October 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942
      Notable depictions of the character in other media include Gloria Steinem placing the character on the cover of the second edition of Ms. magazine in 1971;
      1975–1979 Wonder Woman TV series starring Lynda Carter;"Lynda Carter's performance, rooted in the character's inherent goodness, combined with a comic-accurate costume and a catchy theme song, made for a depiction that was nothing less than iconic"
      2017>"Carter says she got the role back in 1975 largely because she looked the part, which was both a blessing and – as one of the show's producers warned her – a curse: "Oh, women are going be so jealous of you"... "Well, I said, ‘Not a chance. They won’t be, because I am not playing her that way. I want women to want to be me, or be my best friend!""Carter gave praise to Gal Gadot's performance of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the 2017 Wonder Woman, by tweeting, "Wonder Woman is breaking box office records!!! Bravo, Patty Jenkins! Bravo, Gal Gadot! Bravo, Chris Pine!""

      Certainly they can blackball her among those they can influence. But she can get work outside of Hollywood easily. That's where she was working before she became Wonder Woman. She'll work in the U.K, Italy, Israel, France, pretty much wherever she wants. She doesn't need them as much as they need her.

      As for recasting, they can do that. And if the fans don't like it they won't go see the next movie, it will be a dog of a loser and that will be that. It won't be the first time the money people thought they could do whatever they wanted and the fans revolted, said no way, and that killed the golden goose.

      If Warner's is smart, they'll buy this guy out and continue as if nothing had happened. If they don't, they not only risk a revolt over their "new" Wonder Woman but fans turning up their noses at other movies from Warner's due to the sexual predator taint. I don't think Warner's is going to take that risk. This guy is a nobody. Gal Gadot *is* (the new) Wonder Woman. (Yes, to me Lynda Carter will always be Wonder Woman but she's a bit long in the tooth to play her now.) Plus Warner's will score mucho points for cutting ties with this asshat. No one cares about him. They care about Gal Gadot.

      She is quite the looker 10:41, but an average actress, at best.

      Did you see the wonder woman movie? I almost walked out it was so bad, it is the latest in how many special effect explosions et al can the director fit into each scene. Couldn't even figure out exactly what the plot was, but did figure out who the 'mystery' bad man was halfway thru the movie.

      Terrible 'movie' if you want to call it that.

    "Goddard said Ratner’s behavior—his unwanted flirting, invasion of personal space, and barrage of personal questions—stopped not long after she reported him, replaced by dirty looks, while a second complainant said that Ratner called her up a few days later, demanding to know why she had lodged the complaint. The complaint he didn’t know about. At least five other former employees from the period told Variety they knew about his behavior."
