Emperor Trump has a new coin designed in his honor.

Courtesy of WaPo:

For two decades, the commander in chief has doled out distinguished-looking coins as personal mementos. Now, the presidential “challenge coin” has undergone a Trumpian transformation.

The presidential seal has been replaced by an eagle bearing President Trump’s signature. The eagle’s head faces right, not left, as on the seal. The 13 arrows representing the original states have disappeared. And the national motto, “E pluribus unum” — a Latin phrase that means “Out of many, one” — is gone.

Instead, both sides of the coin feature Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

The changes don’t stop there. In addition to his signature, Trump’s name appears three times on the coin, which is thicker than those made for past presidents. And forget the traditional subdued silver and copper: Trump’s coin, a White House aide marveled, is “very gold.”

The aide said the president, whose real estate properties are known for their gilded displays of wealth and status, was personally involved in redesigning the coin. Trump, who also had a hand in creating his famous red campaign hat, “wanted to weigh in on it,” the aide said. “It’s beautifully made.”

Actually it's gaudy and ostentatious and a complete embarrassment to our country.

I cannot imagine who would be impressed by this cheap looking bauble.

Oh, actually yes I can.

“Happy Holidays from [Trump Winery],” tweeted Eric Trump, the president’s son and a veteran of the 2016 presidential campaign during which Christmas restoration was a core issue. (On the trail, the president would often emphasize to roaring applause that if he became leader of the free world, “we’re gonna start saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again.”)

Russian submarine activity ‘highest since Cold War’ warns NATO chief

Alliance plans to set up a new command post for the Atlantic.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg warned about increased activity by Russian submarines in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean in an interview published Saturday.

“Russia has massively invested in its marine capability, especially in submarines,” the military alliance’s secretary-general told Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, the sunday edition of the German daily, as well as two other international newspapers.

“Russia’s submarine activity is now at its highest level since the Cold War,” he said, pointing to thirteen additional submarines since 2014. Russian submarines are operating all over the Atlantic, as well as “closer to our shores,” he said.

That presents a threat to the trans-Atlantic military alliance by possibly undermining links between European and North American allies, he said.

“We’re a transatlantic alliance, and for that reason we have to be able to transport troups and equipment across the Atlantic,” he said. “For that, we need secure and open sea routes.”

Against this background, NATO also plans to set up a new command post for the Atlantic and is due to take more detailed decision on the new structure next year.

“NATO has reduced its marine capabilities after the end of the cold war, especially to fight submarines,” Stoltenberg said.

Well, you know, now that the wall along the border with Mexico is complete, and Mexico has paid for it, and North Korea's nuclear capability has been removed, and Jared has negotiated peace in the Middle East, and Puerto Rico has been rebuilt after all the hurricane damage . . . now Trump has time to turn his magnificent management skills to lesser tasks such as redesigning the presidential coin.

Hitler was the most evil man ever-but in his own way he was a genius. you noticed none of his family worked for him. he might have won the war if he had bothered to learn from Napoleon. never attack Russia in winter. that and his use of drugs. trump is just an evil stupid little man. so easy to manipulate. don't mess with the Russians-Hitler can tell you that, while he paints roses in hell.

      Delete
    2. He also didn't learn that you can't win a war when you're fighting on two fronts.

Now if he had left Russia alone and concentrated to the west, he would have had all of Europe including the UK. Once consolidated, he could have then pushed southeast and taken Egypt and the middle east. Then he either pushes into Russia in the Spring with huge, consolidated forces or he uses his conquests as leverage to negotiate with Russia against the U.S., which had it's own problems in the Pacific with Japan.

I think the bottom line is that egomaniacs, malignant narcissists always make mistakes the lead to their own failures. Hitler amassed a group of advisors he eventually ignored. Trump is doing the same.

You always hope there are enough people who recognize history repeated itself that something can be done but look at where we are. We've gone from repeating Germany in the 30s to repeating our own history of the robber barons. Now Trump is going to scrap most of the regulations that kept our air, water and food clean and disease free. Apparently he doesn't care how many rat turds or hairs are in those burgers he eats. Salmonella in the chicken? Not *his* KFC, only the other guys stuff.

The only way to win with Trump is to make it all about him. Fix the ACA and brand it Trump Care and he'll fight to get it passed permanently.

In some ways Trump is worse than Hitler. They both have a final solution, but Trump's is much more subtle and will take longer. But the results will be the same.
