Expert on authoritarian regimes suggests that Donald Trump might be using Russian hacked emails to blackmail Republican politicians.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

“The RNC was hacked,” Kendzior said. “We don’t know what happened with those e-mails. We know that Lindsey Graham’s personal e-mails were also hacked and we know that Trump has a long track record of blackmailing and threatening those who he sees as his political opponents. That goes back throughout his entire career.”

Kendzior reminded Reid that many Republicans benefitted in 2016 from millions of dollars of dark money donated by Kremlin-aligned Russian nationals living in the U.S. and that Graham is one of those politicians.

“I think what concerns me most is that they seem afraid,” she said of the Republicans gathered to heap compliments on Trump this week. “They seem unable to stand up for themselves. They lack all dignity.”

“Trump has berated them, he has insulted them,” Kendzior said. “He’s often gone after their wives and their family members, saying terrible things and yet they prostrate themselves to him. What kind of leader are you? What kind of man are you?”

Let me start off by saying that in almost any other circumstance I would file allegations like this under "bullshit."

But these are not any other circumstances.

Donald Trump appears for all the world like a Mafioso.

And let's face it using hacked emails to control your subordinates is exactly the kind of tactic that a mob boss would use to maintain control and to keep associates under his heel.

There is no proof for this, but I am open to hearing what anybody else comes up with to explain Trump's ability to totally subjugate the entire GOP.

And keep in mind that they are not simply bending to his will, they are genuflecting at his feet.

Very plausible or they are just a bunch of slimy losers.
Dirty tricks are republican middle names maybe they are putting up a facade before they knife him in the back.

By the way the mafia doesn't have to blackmail anyone to stay,it is a known fact that no one leaves the mob alive.

Rachel Maddow is doing a segment now on Trump's mob ties. I suspect he is blackmailing Miss Lindsey. Maybe there are underage boys in "her" past.

Your post smacks of homophobia. Calling Lindsey Graham a “her” and implying he had sex with underage boys in the past maligns gay men, and implies gay men are pedophiles. This is something conservatives do all the time. I’m sure you did not mean to imply that. Why do people feel the need to use homosexualality as a put down? Lyndsey has enough bad qualities to criticize without tittering about his perceived femininity.

Being gay is not bad nor is it meant to be a putdown. But Lindsay Graham as a Republican is extremely hypocritical so I think it's fair to call him out on that. I wasn't meaning to equate homosexuality with pedophilia because most pedophiles are straight. But because society is more tolerant of gay people, being caught with someone underage is about the only thing gay-related that would land Sen Graham in trouble or give Trump fodder for blackmail.

Rachel Maddow does such an outstanding job - Americans should not miss her weekly show (Monday through Friday - cable - evening). Her research is thorough, factual and enlightening as can be. I've learned more about Donald Trump than I ever wanted to!

I am positive they are being blackmailed. Lindsey Graham goes golfing with the orange cheeto asshole and comes off the course with orange cheeto dust all over his face and is now one of his biggest supporters, after being somewhat critical. Republican emails were hacked at the same time as the Democrats emails and nothing was said about them at the time.

I am glad to see this brought up as I have wondered this. It is better than believing that all the men and women elected to office all bow down to Trump. It was truly disgusting to watch all of them at the signing of the bill. They all were so giddy acting around Trump...sad to so many people that have no spine at all bowing down to a POS like Trump.

This is a very plausible explanation, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. Any thing or method is possible with this idiot, with some coaching from his master. Remember when that fuckin' sell-out traitor and ass-kisser Omarosa proudly proclaimed "everyone will bow down to trump". Maybe for once, she spoke the truth!!

The performances the other day reminded me of Saddam Hussein's infamous purge:

All indications seem to point to major players in Congress being blackmailed/coerced. And/or they are also complicit in the collusion to steal the election, and obstruct justice in regards to those actions.

And I'm betting that Mueller is all over this. When he next puts out indictments there will be multiple ones all out at the same time. And they will include Graham, McCain, McConnell, Priebus, and Ryan as well as Trump Sr., Jr., and both the Kushner's. The nation will have never seen the expanse and scope of the outright treasonous behavior. I hope we can survive it.

I agree with Kendzior's insinuations. Assuming that Putin & Trump's Russian wealth (money laundered) was ill-gotten, Trump is Putin's stooge. Putin has dirt on Trump and with Wikileaks & Edward Snowden's help, I'm sure additional hacking took place in order to get more leverage.

Putin has a plan. Trump (and his family) were his big marks but I believe other Republican's and many Democrats have also been compromised by the Russians. Can you say Devin Nunes?

Kendzior's assumptions are not that far-fetched in my opinion.

Pretty soon Putin and Trump will have tapped into all our email accounts. Geez, Louise. Is there no end to this bullshit?

The Republicans have long been toadies to their donors -- and that specifically comes in the form of the Koch Network. Read Jane Mayer's "Dark Money" -- even if you just download the 'sample' from Amazon...(it's a fat sample.)

Also, watch "Brainwashing My Dad" Norquist and his Wednesday meetings kept the publican coalition on track and focused on, apparently, just 3 issues: God, guns and abortion ...
