Good old-fashioned money comes to mind.

    2. Money.

He’s making money hand over fist as President; his D.C. hotel is full of those bribing his with rooms they don’t use and renting party space, his clubs are making money off the Secret Service.

And I’m sure if we ever saw his tax returns that those debts to foreign banks, likely Russia, are being forgiven at a fever pitch. With everything he does or says that benefits Russia, another debt is canceled as “paid in full.”

‘Holy cow’: Longtime diplomat stunned by ex-intel chief calling Trump a Kremlin ‘asset’

...“That is a stunning moment,” said Richard Haas, a veteran diplomat and longtime president of the Council on Foreign Relations. “Only if we’re so super numb do we not just say, ‘Holy cow.’ We’re living in a moment that something like that by a responsible person could be said and people just brush it off and go on to the next thing.”

“Morning Joe” didn’t address Clapper’s comments until nearly 90 minutes into Tuesday’s program, after reporting on apparently ignored FBI warnings to Trump about Russian efforts to infiltrate his campaign and a lengthy discussion of Democratic senators urging Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) to reconsider his resignation.

“Every day something else happens that makes us question, what does Putin have on Trump?” said host Joe Scarborough. “Every single day something happens that just doesn’t make sense.”

Haas agreed, and said the dynamic has been playing out in public for two years.

“We don’t understand what motivates, what is behind the benign, sanguine — whatever you want to call it — behavior toward Russia,” Haas said. “At the end of the day, that’s got to be at the end of the road — what motivates, what explains what can’t be explained in normal, strategic, foreign policy terms.”

Sally Yates warns America of creeping autocracy in chilling rebuke of Trump

'The rule of law depends not only on things that are written down, but also on important traditions and norms, such as apolitical law enforcement. That’s why Democratic and Republican administrations alike, at least since Watergate, have honored that the rule of law requires a strict separation between the Justice Department and the White House on criminal cases and investigations. This wall of separation is what ensures the public can have confidence that the criminal process is not being used as a sword to go after one’s political enemies or as a shield to protect those in power. It’s what separates us from an autocracy.'

This principle is under far greater attack than most Americans are registering right now.

Yates also calls on Congress to hold Trump accountable for his attacks on truth and fact. “We can’t control whether our public servants lie to us,” she writes. “But we can control whether we hold them accountable for those lies or whether, in either a state of exhaustion or to protect our own political objectives, we look the other way and normalize an indifference to truth.”

Trump Is America’s First Lawless President
…and the Republican Party is following his lead as America’s republic breaks down.

...Our republic—our system of laws—is under assault in a way I’ve never seen and I don’t think has ever happened. Richard Nixon was a lawbreaker. He was not utterly and thoroughgoingly lawless. There’s a difference. Donald Trump is a lawless president. It’s obvious to anyone who’s watching and isn’t in a state of contemptible denial that he feels constrained by no law. He cares nothing about the Constitution and he’ll lie about anything to anyone at anytime. That’s difference one.

...Then there’s the Trumpy lawlessness, which is far worse and a much graver threat. Republican members of Congress running interference for Trump and helping to lay the groundwork for the firing of Robert Mueller constitutes a mustard-gas attack on the rule of law. This past weekend, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, probably the biggest lackey of the whole bunch—certainly the most bone-chilling, with that scornful scowl and enthusiasm for browbeating witnesses whose words don’t echo the Pravda line—said he’s gotten a commitment from House higher-ups that leading FBI and Justice Department officials looking into the Russia matter will be subpoenaed.

...It’s hard to accept and believe that this is happening in the United States of America. If you missed what they did over the weekend… I’m tempted to say you’re almost better off in your ignorance, but I can’t say that. Read on.

Baloney! Trump will never sway me and I'm sure the majority of Americans feel the same way. Look at the dislike and lack of respect the potus garners from America today.

Mueller is a far superior person to Trump as are many others, such as President Obama and VP Biden!

"e does handle him, apparently all the time on their private calls they don’t tell the White House press corps about — it’s pretty obvious Trump is a Russian “asset,” whether he’s smart enough to know he is or not. It’s almost like Clapper was reading Wonkette over a year ago and finally decided to say it out loud!"

  14. This is exactly what is happening. Sure, not everyone is buying it. But mistrust and doubt of the media has risen since Trump started with his Fake News rants. He’s doing the same thing with Mueller.

He is conditioning the gullible with his “believe me” crap. They....believe him.

He doesn’t have to fire Mueller if all he has to do is discredit him. The longer Mueller takes, the longer Trump has to undermine him in the eyes of the public. Since the media is already on the road to being disbelieved, if the media reports Mueller’s findings and says believe it, it will come down to who are you going to believe? Trump or Fake News?

Personally I don’t think Mueller has to worry about being fired. I think he should worry about being assassinated.

Ex-NSA analyst explains why Americans should be terrified by Clapper’s claims about Trump

...John Schindler, a U.S. Navy veteran who studies espionage and terrorism, wrote for the Observer that Trump’s relationship to Russia has long been the subject of suspicion within the intelligence community in which Clapper served more than 50 years.

“To be perfectly clear: America’s most experienced spy boss publicly termed our president an asset — that is, a witting agent — of the Kremlin who is being controlled by Vladimir Putin,” Schindler wrote. “Even if meant only ‘figuratively,’ this is the most jaw-dropping statement ever uttered about any American president by any serious commentator.”

Schindler said it little mattered whether Clapper literally believed Trump was a Putin asset, or if he only figuratively considered the president to be under the influence of a foreign adversary.

“There’s not much difference between literally and figuratively when we’re talking about the inhabitant of the Oval Office,” he said. “If the American president is being controlled or unduly influenced by a country that’s hostile to us, that’s a big deal. This, of course, is precisely what Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation are trying to get to the bottom of — and, not coincidentally, what President Trump and his supporters are trying just as hard to prevent Team Mueller from unraveling.”

He said Clapper had been sounding the alarm about Trump’s troubling connections to Russia for months, but Schindler said intelligence officials had wondered about the celebrity real estate mogul since a trip to Moscow in 1987.

“What exactly is Donald Trump’s relationship to Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin?” Schindler said. “It seems likely that nobody outside Moscow knows the full story, and we should expect it will take years of investigation by Team Mueller and the IC to unravel this murky three-decade saga.”

Schindler suggested Trump had traded political favors and information for commercial deals in the past, and he said Clapper may have been publicly stating what active-duty intelligence officers were duty-bound to keep quiet.

“Jim Clapper has done our country a valuable service by stating the plain truth about our president,” Schindler said. “On CNN, he was speaking for all our intelligence professionals who must remain silent because of the lifetime secrecy oaths they took to join the Intelligence Community. After months of public White House attacks on the IC, which have now escalated into all-out war on America’s spies by Team Trump, there is finally some open pushback by the spooks.”
