I can't even have a conversation with somebody who I know is a Trump voter at this point.
That seems wrong as there must be some that are nice people.
It's just that such a level of stupidity makes it feel like I am talking to a less evolved life form.

"A defamation lawsuit involving President Donald Trump’s alleged sexual harassment of a former contestant on “The Apprentice” is scheduled to be heard in court next Tuesday.
Summer Zervos, who accused Trump of sexually harassing her, is suing the president for defamation after he repeatedly called her allegations a “hoax” and claimed his presidential opponent Hillary Clinton’s campaign hired her to slander him."
December 5th.
As part of the LGBTQA umbrella I've had that feeling for years.
ReplyDeleteIt's very hard to view ones neighbors with any empathy when I know they view me as a less than, not a real person.
I'm not black so I can't speak to the black experience of discrimination but I have a pretty good idea. To know those around me want me and mine dead?
Such a special feeling...
Just a thought - one of the right wing talking points is that liberals are snowflakes. Well, I'm from Colorado where many snowflakes (called blizzards) disrupt normal life and very often kill folks. Perhaps the right wing needs new imagery.
Hey, I'm from Colorado too, and I would treat you with respect. I'd like to meet you, but for all I know we already have, in which case, please know that you are not universally scorned.
DeleteAnd your analogy to snowflakes is great, may I use it?
Snowflakes create 'DEATH COOKIES'
DeleteSnowflakes create 'AVALANCHES'
DeleteDon't let the asshole Stein or Johnson voters get off the hook. They were trying to not support Trump but yet still support him. That's not acceptable either.
DeleteI feel much the same way. We have a friend who keeps saying that he feels sorry for Trump because Washington "insiders" are so mean to him. Gag. This person knows that we oppose everything that Trump and the 21st century GOP represents but he persists. We just say nothing. Sometime I'm going to have to say something; hopefully it will be short and not too unfriendly. This person is, although well educated, quite elderly. We have another friend who admitted to having voted for Stein. He's something of a conspiracy geek. I'm not sure if he understands, despite his extensive education and university, that his vote was tantamount to a vote for Trump! Sometimes it's like we're banging our heads against a wall. It's hard trying to be nice to people who have behaved badly and acted so stupidly.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Whenever I discover that someone I've known for years is a Trump lover, I see them in a completely different light. My estimation of their character goes down which saddens me as from now on I will never trust their judgement.
DeleteIt's much easier to forgive someone for acting stupidly when they're the only one affected.
DeleteBut when their stupid actions help cause tremendous, long-lasting harm to hundreds of millions of people and potentially destroy a country which has existed for nearly 2 1/2 centuries, understanding and forgiveness are MUCH harder to come by.
“Well, thankfully you will be dead soon, so that’s one less fascsist Trump apologist destroyign our country.”
DeleteSince he’s not my friend, I feel perfectly comfortable with that retort.
You might want to reconsider your friendship. If these are his basic values, what do you have in common that would provide any sort of basis for a true friendship? So perhaps it’s not a friendship but an acquaintance. An acquaintance that you might do without. For a happier and healthier life, perhaps.
“You and your Trump fascists are going to kill millions of people through that giveaway to the rich tax scam. Sorry, but I can’t associate with anyone that cruel and heartless.” Feel free to add gullible and stupid if it suits.
a little old lady i know carries photos of trump with her and she writes him everyday. i don't have the heart to tell her that he doesn't give a damn about her, in fact he would take her SS and medicare away from her so he can shit in a solid gold toliet. some people just refuse to get it.
DeleteSo agree...I have two sisters that think Trump is Jesus Christ. People writing to the paper leading, "Just give him a chance!" MY God, they cannot see the destruction he's wreaking every minute.
ReplyDeleteOh, and it's 'there.'
He’s had more than enough chances.
DeleteHe’s playing golf while “Rome burns.”
Only the really hard-core supporters wear their Trump T-shirts to bed.
ReplyDeleteI have had a friend who revealed she had and would believe any absurd, bizarre utterance from any Republican. She evolved to mentioning she watched evening news clarifying she knows the news is FAKE news but she watches to know what FAKE things are discussed. On one occasion she was angry believing she was the victim of Medicare fraud. I explained to her drug deductibles, in her case pay the first $300 plus. She did not know what an insurance deductible was. Then she was furious I did not agree she is a fraud victim.
ReplyDeleteIn ways she has the mindset reinforced by Trump that she and her husband are getting screwed and doubly “paying for everyone else”. Their income won’t provide a lifestyle she wants so her anger is blamed on others.
There is no reasoning with some people even to try to help them with hard core facts. We do not see each other much any more.
Maybe if FACTS were superimposed (like subliminal messages in ads) over hard corn porn, Trumpers would have a chance see them
Delete-- the facts.
*There*
ReplyDeleteAmericans favoring Trump has divided friends and family members. To include mine! I truly don't understand them!
ReplyDeleteFox news and Russian radar.
ReplyDeleteAt my daughter's elementary school pick up the other day, a grandma asked me if I loved tRump yet. Like "of course, I did." I told her that I hated him more than ever. We went back and forth, keeping it lite and friendly. Then she recommended a "wonderful film" that has a "beautiful scene" with Adam (from the bible) lovingly petting a dinosaur. I'm running out of patience. I'm afraid that I might start smacking people.
ReplyDeleteNow I would have said “Sorry, not a fan of fantasy movies.”
DeleteI know how you feel about the smacking thing. It must be healthy if we're all feeling it. ;)
Delete"Ma'am, the movies are fantasy and if fantasy was real... kids wouldn't have to go to school, for a start, and we wouldn't be standing here."
DeleteI wonder if anybody ventured out in a Trump costume on Halloween?
ReplyDeleteSadly, I've severed ties with a friend of fifty years that not only loves DJT but disparages Pres. Obama.
ReplyDeleteLoving Trump is one kind of fault but disparaging Obama is always race-related. Racism is the kind of horrible characteristic that doesn't occur in a vacuum.
DeleteIn my 42 years of voting, never have I thought "without a word, you've just told me all I need to know" until coming across a Trump supporter.
ReplyDeleteAgree. I'm a 69-year old college-educated progressive female who now reserves my sympathy for those who vote and think like me. Harsh, yes. I used to truly care about everyone, regardless of their political persuasion. I was non-judgemental and "too nice". Not any more.
ReplyDeleteNOW we could call USa>
DeleteConscientious Objective Citizen Soldiers
I have been doing internet dating and the minute I find out they are a trump supporter, it's over - no wondering what if, or am I being too critical/judgemental.... Used to be open to everyone's ideas but a trump supporter goes against everything I believe in. Would never work out ever!
ReplyDeleteAs said above, being a Trump supporter is all you need to know about them. So why waste your time?
DeleteI say in my biography I'm not interested if you support drumpf, have a motorcycle, or own a fishing boat look elsewhere.
DeleteI can count on one hand the times I've been on Facebook since the inauguration, it would be no more than three times. I know two people that voted for Trump, one in Georgia and one in Texas. They never mention politics in my small presence but it's enough that I know what they did. I just want to smack them so I stay away.
ReplyDeleteNext time I go on Facebook it will be to share the news that the repudiation of my US citizenship is formally complete. Fuck Trump and all who sail in him. Fuck them to hell.
As someone who also uses online dating sites I believe most women on those sites are pro trump. Maybe not but it sure seems to be that way
ReplyDeletenot to forget the ALT right ones, too.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened the the nut job in Florida? Did her parents finally have her institutionalized to get her out of their house??
