Courtesy of AL.Com:
Roy Moore has frequently said, in social media posts, that he will never give up the fight.
And after he lost the Alabama Senate election on Tuesday to Democrat Doug Jones, Moore is sticking with that mantra -- refusing to concede the race to Jones.
He waited more than a hour after the race was called to address supporters in downtown Montgomery late Tuesday night, then told them to wait some more.
"Realize when vote is this close, it's not over and we still have to go by the rules," Moore told the crowd, which cheered when he appeared on stage.
Even as Moore refused to surrender, Alabama GOP Chair Terry Lathan issued a statement late Tuesday night acknowledging Jones' win -- concluding her statement with "now that this race has ended."
An automatic recount only comes into play if one candidate beats the other by less than 1 percent of the vote, but since Jones beat Moore by 1.5 percent that will not come into play here.
And if Moore thinks he will get any support from Donald Trump, well he has another think coming.
That Mr. Moore is known as being thrown under the bus. (Say hi to Reince Priebus, George Papadopolous, and Michael Flynn while you're down there.)The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election. I was right! Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2017
Now while we are all celebrating the people of Alabama (Actually the black people of Alabama.) for rejecting this teen girl assaulting asshole, keep in mind that over 650,000 Alabamans voted for his racist ass.
So perhaps we should keep the victory parade a little short, and then recognize that there is still much work to be done.
But as Julian Castro pointed out there are those who certainly need to be aware that something is coming.
Be afraid, @tedcruz . Be very afraid.

"(Actually the black people of Alabama.) "
ReplyDeleteYep, Gryphen, you got that right. It's not like the majority of white people woke up and decided to do the white, I mean, RIGHT thing. It was a very small margin of victory and the GOP wont make the mistake of nominating Moore of the same for the next election which is 2018.
So, we can all be grateful to all the Alabama voters who put Jones over the top, but having a Democratic senator is not likely to be a long term situation.
(It's my sincere Hannukah wish to be totally wrong about that, by the way)
Black Women Played A Big Part In Doug Jones’ Surprise Victory In Alabama
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, almost two-thirds of white women voted for GOP candidate Roy Moore, accused of sexually preying upon teenage girls.

The author responded to Moore’s claim that “God is always in control.”
'Narrator's voice: Roy was right. God was in control. What he didn't realise was, She's black.'
...According to exit polls, much of Jones’ win can be attributed to him carrying 96 percent of the black vote. Indeed, early Wednesday morning the hashtag #BlackWomen began trending on Twitter when users noticed that 98 percent of black women voters supported Jones.

Knives Out For Steve Bannon After Democrat Wins Senate Seat In Alabama
The bloodletting begins.
...Bannon’s critics quickly seized on Moore’s stunning loss Tuesday in crimson red Alabama ― a state Trump carried in last year’s presidential election by nearly 30 points ― as evidence of Bannon’s political incompetence.
“This is a brutal reminder that candidate quality matters regardless of where you are running,” said Steve Law, president of the Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC aligned with McConnell. “Not only did Steve Bannon cost us a critical Senate seat in one of the most Republican states in the country, but he also dragged the President of the United States into his fiasco.”
Josh Holmes, a former chief of staff to McConnell, tweeted, “I’d just like to thank Steve Bannon for showing us how to lose the reddest state in the union.”

DeleteAlabama Rep. Mo Brooks Reveals He Has Prostate Cancer
ReplyDelete...n light of Doug Jones‘ victory in last night’s Alabama senate race, a lot of people have wondered what might have happened if Brooks was the Republican candidate instead of Roy Moore. Various conservatives have expressed that a Jones and Brooks could very well end up facing each other in 2020.
Brooks took a moment to address how he came in third place during the senate race, and he ironically noted that if he won, he might’ve been too busy to have the medical exam that informed the doctors of his condition.
“In retrospect, and paradoxically, losing the Senate race may have saved my life. Yes, God does work in mysterious ways.”

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/chuck-schmer-forged-sexual-harassment-document_us_5a309bc5e4b01bdd76584e13?section=us_politics
"Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) contacted Capitol Police on Tuesday after his office became aware that news networks had received copies of a forged document accusing the senator of sexual harassment."
"“This was an apparent effort to dupe reporters and smear a senator — both symptoms of an amped-up news environment where harassment charges are proliferating and reporters have become targets for fraud,” Axios’ Mike Allen reported.
Over the summer, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had a similar experience and told viewers that her show had received a forged National Security Agency document seemingly filled with explosive allegations. The document, Maddow believes, was sent to her in an effort to discredit her show and other news organizations reporting on Russia’s interference with the 2016 presidential election.
The fake document about Schumer was purportedly signed by a former staffer accusing the senator of sexual harassment. Axios reported the former staffer said her signature on the 13-page document, which was meant to look like a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, was a forgery. "

I so hope VP Biden does run against Trump in 2020. He'd beat his ass that is for sure and I'd be out there in my community promoting his election. He is so much smarter, more experienced and has the foreign background that makes him superior to Trump in every way! Plus, he smiles easily!
DeleteHe wouldn't be running against Trump, he'd be running against Pence.
DeleteAnd I'm not sure Biden would win. Too many faux pas on video. And then there's all those photo ops with him hugging and touching women. You know that now they'd make that into a negative, even though all parties concerned would say nothing to see here.
Forged documents are trying to accuse Schumer of sexual assault.

ReplyDeleteTrump fires his top black supporter as black voters hand him humiliating loss in Alabama
ReplyDeleteBlack women are showing up at the polls to defeat Donald Trump and his agenda, just as he sheds his most high-profile black supporter, reality TV star Omarosa.
Former “Apprentice” contestant and Trump hanger-on Omarosa Manigault Newman reportedly resigned her position and will officially be out on Jan. 20. In a statement, the White House said she “resigned yesterday to pursue other opportunities.”
However, according to reporting from April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks, Newman “did not resign” and “was even escorted out of the building and off campus.” Ryan also reported that “sources say General Kelly did the firing and Omarosa is alleged to have acted very vulgar and cursed a lot and said she helped elect President Trump.”
It is a shocking development for Newman, who infamously bragged after the election that “every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump.”

DeleteHow was the "deck stacked against" Moore when Alabama has been as red as a red state can be for decades. It was a win for the Democratic candidate who worked hard and who had the support of voters across the racial divides. The only thing "stacked against" Moore was his only creepy history as a sexual predator. That should be enough; it kept Trump from winning the popular vote despite the shenanigans of the Russians.

DeleteThe post indicated a recount would be automatic if the vote count difference was less than one percent. This is wrong. It is only true if the vote difference is less than one half of one percent.
ReplyDelete"If a candidate for any public office in a general election "is defeated by not more than one half of one percent of the votes cast for the office," state statutes stipulate that a recount must be conducted (unless the defeated candidate files a written form waiving the right to a recount).[1]"

If she is escorted out of the WH, then do they say she will stay until next January? Doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteOmarosa Manigault reportedly attempted to enter Trump's residence and had to be escorted out by Secret Service
ReplyDeleteAfter Omarosa Manigault Newman was dramatically fired from her White House position on Tuesday by chief of staff John Kelly, the former "Apprentice" villain reportedly attempted to enter the White House residence to speak with President Donald Trump, only to be escorted from the grounds by Secret Service agents.
Newman, a former Trump campaign adviser who has served since January as the director of communications for the White House's Office of Public Liaison, was upset by the news of her firing, according to American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan.
Newman reportedly protested her dismissal, bringing up her efforts to recruit black voters to support Trump during the election and her relationships with historically black colleges and universities.
"During that altercation with General Kelly, Omarosa said that she had brought the black vote to President Trump," Ryan said in a Wednesday radio report. "General Kelly said, 'No, that is not the case.'"
Kelly also reportedly told Newman, who is one of the president's best known black supporters, that Johnathan Holifield, the newly appointed head of the White House Initiative on HBCUs, "doesn't like" her.
Newman then reportedly told Kelly that she wanted to speak with the president about the decision, but Kelly reportedly responded that Trump had already been informed and had signed off on the firing. Ryan's sources told her that Newman used vulgar language, cursing at Kelly, and then walked over to the president's residence and "tried to get in."
"General Kelly was called back," Ryan reported. "Secret Service stopped her, and she was escorted off campus."
Newman's assistant was reportedly also let go.

Political commentator Angela Rye didn’t even try to hide the fact that she’s delighted to see the end of Omarosa Manigault’s White House career.
ReplyDeleteRye joined CNN’s Brooke Baldwin today for a discussion with April Ryan and Symone Sanders, and they talked about the intriguing details surrounding Manigault’s imminent departure from the Trump Administration. When Baldwin tried to move the conversation to the Alabama senate election, Rye basically hijacked the segment by taking a minute where she admitted she was “just going to be petty.”
From there, Rye started screaming with joy as the other three ladies couldn’t help but giggle along.
“Bye girl,” Rye exclaimed. “Good bye, good riddance, good bye.”
Ryan admonished Rye by saying she didn’t “delight in anyone’s demise,” but even as Rye insisted that she wasn’t, she let out another delighted yell. Symone also got a word in afterwards, though she left things by noting that there’s a few people who are not “necessarily sad to see Omarosa go today.”
