Courtesy of Politico:
New polling on that first year of Trump shows that the President has a lot of work to do in bringing the country together. There are just 12 states where Trump's job approval rating was above 50% for the entirety of 2017. That pales in comparison to the 41 states where then-President Barack Obama was above 50% approval for his first year on office.
Those numbers are reflective of two things:
1. Trump's overall job approval number nationwide was never over 50% in Gallup polling at any point in 2017. Trump's high point was 366 days ago when he was at 45% approval and 47% disapproval. The last time Trump's approval was over 40% in Gallup polling was at the end of May 2017 -- when he was at 41%. Trump averaged the lowest job approval number -- 38% -- of any president ever in his first year in office in Gallup data. At the end of 2009, Obama's approval rating was at 57%.
2. Trump's most loyal voters -- and states -- are staying with him. His job approval was highest in places like West Virginia, North Dakota and Wyoming where he won by huge margins in 2016. (One interesting note: Democratic senators are running for re-election in both West Virginia and North Dakota this fall.) Many of those states are also less populated.
Viewed broadly, these numbers should worry Republicans -- especially those on the House side hoping to hold onto their majority after the 2018 election.
Dammit, of course my state is one of the twelve.
I really love the fact that Trump will never enjoy the popularity that President Obama enjoyed.
Nor will he ever see a second term.
I'm encouraged more by the facts that Republicans are retiring risking their majority and courts are ruling against Republican biased gerrymandered voting districts.
ReplyDeleteTrump is not up for election in 2018. Democrats need to focus on getting majority. I don't think Trump has a chance in 2020, but I thought that in 2016. Three more years of Trump's stupidity should make his loss in the 2020 election a sure thing.
What I have noticed is that trumpster Russian bots are doing the polls. And those actual American voters that vote trump mob are defiant type personalities. In other words they do it to be opposite no matter what. The relatives, friends and such that vote for trumpster blob do it as a way to protest. They will not listen until it affects them personally.
ReplyDeleteMost of us will not give trump a mulligan for the shithole things he has said and done his entire life. I cannot vote for a known crook and liar such as him. NO matter what he says or does today. Cant trust him, like him or vote for him ever. He cannot be usa president by rigging the election. Period.
Oh c'mon Gryphen, you can find some way to work in a slur at Texas or the South like you always manage to do.
ReplyDeleteThe south sucks. And Texas sucks Bigly.
DeleteHappy now?
Are these also the largest porn viewing states? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, I am surprised that Georgia isn't one of them. Must have just missed it by "1".

Seeing the fact Alaska is one of the states favoring Trump makes me sick to my stomach. I detest the man and am a resident of Alaska.
ReplyDeletePlus, I hate the fact Republicans are the majority in our state. But, I think that is going to start changing in 2018. We need to get rid of Murkowski too!
Republicans in the Alaska Legislature have run Alaska into the red and now there is talk of their raiding the Permanent Fund to operate the state. Screw them!
Why do you think Sarah never liked the ak gop?

ReplyDeleteGood idea!
DeleteBut those dumbass 40-49%ers will still vote for him if he ran in 2020. Those uneducated are just that stupid.
ReplyDeleteEat $hit!"If ADM and Bunge do hook up, the marriage will represent the latest episode in an extraordinary spasm of consolidation in agribusiness markets that began in 2015, when Dow and DuPont announced their intention to merge, ultimately creating a combined seed/pesticide unit that’s roughly the size of its biggest current rival, Monsanto, in annual sales. Since then, Swiss pesticide/seed player Syngenta has been bought by the Chinese chemical colossus ChemChina, fertilizer giants Agrium and Potash Corp of Saskatchewan have merged into a new mega-player called Nutrien, and, of course, Bayer bought Monsanto—a deal that still awaits regulatory approval in Europe and the United States."

Thanks for the info, Anonymous @9:40 even though it has nothing to do with the post about Trump and his pitiful numbers. I came from farmers and married a farmer in Indiana. The fact that Don the Con is considering getting rid of NAFTA (I know it has its flaws) and being a real a hole with Canada and Mexico is so damn scary for our small farm. The corn market this year was so bad that we lost so much money that we're going to have to plant beans on beans this year and not rotate because we can't take another beating this year like the last. We hate Monsanto, btw.
DeleteNOTE: BRAZIL IS HERE >>>>>
Delete"Farm advocates say removing a major player from such a tight market means more pressure on crop prices for farmers—who are already enduring the fifth straight year of low corn and soybean prices. Grain markets are global—US corn and soybean farmers compete with their counterparts across the world, most prominently in Brazil, where soybean production has jumped to near US levels in recent years and corn output has surged. Whereas ADM is the top player in US grain markets, Bunge is king in Brazil, especially in soybean processing. According to Reuters, Bunge processes 27 percent of the Brazilian soy crop, while ADM owns a relatively small 10 percent. A two-headed beast that looms over the globe’s two most important grain-producing regions would have yet more power to force US and Brazilian growers to compete with each other, driving down prices even more."In a note to clients, Seth Goldstein, who covers agribusiness for the investment information firm Morningstar, wrote that US and Brazilian antitrust authorities would likely force the combined firm to sell off overlapping assets in the respective countries. Even so, he wrote, a “combined ADM-Bunge would likely be the dominant grain merchandiser and processor of both continents,” meaning North and South America."
Gryphen I'm shocked that Indiana isn't right there with your beloved Alaska. Maybe there's hope for my state afterall.

"“No matter how many times, [sic] the President, EPA, and press rant about ‘dirty carbon pollution,’ there is no pollution about carbon itself! As a dictionary will tell you, carbon is the chemical basis of all life. Our flesh, blood, and bones are built of carbon. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the gas of life on this planet, an essential nutrient for plant growth on which human life depends. How craftily our government has masked these fundamental realities and the environmental benefits of fossil fuels!”
Crafty indeed. Of course, White is here conflating the carbon-heavy pollution from coal (“particulate matter,” i.e. soot and dust), which is responsible for 3 million deaths annually, with carbon dioxide, which indeed is an “essential nutrient” but has hit concentration levels in the atmosphere not seen for 125,000 years."
"“As the evidence for unprecedented warming temperatures, extreme weather events, declining Arctic ice, and rising sea levels wanes, the entrenched warmists’ grasp for familiar tags such as “pollution” or “environmental protection” to sanitize their grand schemes to decarbonize human societies.”"
Those look like the same 12 states with the highest rates of inbreeding and tooth loss due to dental hygiene neglect.
