In case you missed it, Senator Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran, completely kneecapped Donald Trump yesterday.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

"Does he even know that there are service members who are in harm's way right now, watching him, looking for their commander-in-chief to show leadership, rather than [trying] to deflect blame?" Duckworth said. "Or that his own Pentagon says that the short-term funding plans he seems intent on pushing is actually harmful to not just the military, but to our national security?"

"I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well-being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible," she continued. "Sadly, this is something that the current occupant of the Oval Office does not seem to care to do – and I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft-dodger."

"And I have a message for cadet bone spurs: If you cared about our military, you'd stop baiting Kim Jong-Un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops, and millions of innocent civilians, in danger."

"Cadet bone spurs." Damn, that was epic!

Women like Senator Duckworth, who does not mince words when it comes to calling Trump out over his hypocrisy, are going to help inspire the blue wave that is coming in 2018 to wash the GOP dead wood out of the House and Senate and replace it with energetic, hard working, and likely female progressives who are going to get this country back on the right track.

Personally I can hardly wait.

Tammy's got great aim, so I believe her blow landed a bit north of your headline estimate, Gryphen. Right where The Rump's brain and ego reside. about 18" - 2' north of the kneecaps to be precise.

Now there is an inspiration to America and its population! Think the woman outstanding and someone who has earned the respect of the majority of us.

Sorry to say the same thing cannot be said for the evil doer residing in the white house.

I'm glad to see Tammy Duckworth doing well and gaining positive attention. We need more progressive women like her who can also send a message that Democrats are actually the party that cares for our military and doesn't just pay lip service to it like Republicans do.

If anyone has several minutes to watch and see the stuff that Tammy Duckworth is made of, watch this youtube video from back in 2013 when she was in the House. She annihilates a guy who gamed the VA system by getting a government contract based on a foot injury he suffered in military school, despite the fact that he then when on to play football in college. Sounds like Cadet Bone Spurs.

By the way, Duckworth was ranked a Lieutenant Colonel and she lost both legs and the partial use of her right arm. I am proud to call her my U.S. Senator.

Here is another one of her takedowns:

The Republicans tried over and over again to destroy Tammy Duckworth. Don't ever believe the Republicans when they wrap themselves in the flag (I mean the US one this time, not the Russian) and pretend to like members of the military. Republicans like arms makers and dealers, not soldiers.

I'm glad Tammy Duckworth's now in the Senate and that she's vocal in her criticism of the present occupant of the White House.

We've all seen that whenever Trump is criticized he will try to discredit that person by tweeting back a personal attack. Can't wait to see what he will use as ammunition to attack this military hero.

    "85,000 American troops ...in danger."

That's right. What does the whining toddler care? Collateral damage to prove he's the yugest bad@ss on the planet?

Serving in the military used to be honorable. Not so much any more.

Depressing. The Vice President, visiting American troops abroad, uses them as props for a partisan political message.

Her father was American military. American. That makes his offspring American. They can be born anywhere in the world and still be American.

John McCain was born in Panama to an American military officer and he is considered American. Oh wait... he's white. Never mind. /s

Duckworth is a DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Any woman 18 years or older-regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background-who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.

During a debate with Senator Mark Kirk, who Duckworth defeated, he stuck his foot in his mouth when he condescendingly made a crack about her parents from Thailand, not knowing that her father was Caucasian with a military background. Kirk later apologized but the damage to his re-election was already done.

As was pointed out by an earlier post, the ridiculous Birther Conspiracy Theory pushed by Donald Trump and others about Barack Obama was without merit. Even if Obama had been born in Kenya instead of Hawaii, his mother was an American citizen and thus her children are also American citizens, no matter where they were born. Why the wimpy Democrats didn't hit back harder on this point is beyond me. Next time you hear birther talk, throw that in their face. It will definitely shut them up.

So proud of Duckworth. Sustained a ritual beating for supporting her (ivory tower, yah know) but it was worth it.

I'm not even sure why we have such a large military in this day and age. I get WW1 and WW2, I understand those, but since then we've been nothing but involved in acting as some sort of "world police" engaged not in wars but in "conflicts" on foreign soil that have little to do with American priorities.

So much money spent, so many lives lost, especially innocent civilians in other countries. Such a waste.

I support the troops with my tax dollars because I don't have a choice, but not in 50 years have I supported their missions ideologically.

Agreed, back in teh 70's it seemd we had finally figured out htat it was better to spend the money on medical care, including reproductive health for women, including access to birth control, since so much of the unrest and poverty in developing countries were exacerbated by over population. We also had cultural exchange programs and non-military. And it was working. President Obama was heading that direction. Until Captain Bone-Spurs of the Short-fingered Vulgarian Regiment hobbled in.

'Based on classified documents and first-person interviews, a controversial history of the Vietnam War argues that American acts of violence against millions of Vietnamese civilians were a pervasive and systematic part of the WAR and that soldiers were deliberately trained and ordered to conduct hate-based slaughter campaigns.'

Remember, The Rump can't stand being laughed at. And he is so very thin skinned. I think we should all address some letters to Cadet Bone Sours at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue - don't you?

We might want to add Cadet Bone-Spurs of the Short-fingered Vulgarian Regiment. After all, he soooo likes titles and nicknames.

  15. I wouldn’t mind at all if Duckworth was our first female President. They sure couldn’t claim she had no military experience and couldn’t handle being Commander in Chief.

Cadet Bone Spurs. I love it. Five deferment draft dodger. Oooo, that’s gotta hurt. Bet Kelly isn’t too pleased by either of them. Since he is the right hand man of Commander Sissypants Trump’s cowardice reflects on him too.
