Courtesy of Politico:
Joe Biden said Tuesday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stopped the Obama administration from speaking out about Russian interference in the 2016 campaign by refusing to sign on to a bipartisan statement of condemnation.
That moment, the former Democratic vice president said, made him think “the die had been cast ... this was all about the political play.”
He expressed regret, in hindsight, given the intelligence he says came in after Election Day. "Had we known what we knew three weeks later, we may have done something more,” Biden, a potential 2020 presidential candidate, said.
Biden was speaking at an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations, a block from his old office at the Old Executive Office Building, to discuss his new article in the latest issue of Foreign Affairs, “How to Stand Up to the Kremlin.”
As you might expect McConnell disagrees strongly with this characterization of eventts.
However I reported this exact same event back in December of 2016:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is rejecting bipartisan calls for a special committee to investigate Russian interference in the U.S. election, which American intelligence says was aimed in part at helping Republican Donald Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton.
What's more a former Obama White House staff echoed Biden's version of events:
“Our administration's interest in making sure the response was bipartisan wasn't for the sake of being bipartisan. It was necessary because we needed the buy-in from state and local election administrators (many of whom were Republican partisans and/or skeptical of federal government),” the official argued in an email. “Unfortunately, as is well documented, Senator McConnell was unwilling to help — only making matters worse.”
Let's face it Mitch McConnell does not care about protecting American election integrity just so long as the meddling benefits his party's candidate.
Holy shit, this neanderthal could be a senator, making laws that impact womens' lives. I pity his girlfriend. Missouri don't let it happen.
ReplyDeleteGOP Senate candidate flips out over ‘women’s rights’: ‘I want to come home to a cooked dinner every night’
In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday, Sykes said that he had been asked if he “supports women’s rights.”
“I want to come home to a home cooked dinner every night at six,” Sykes said, referring to demands he makes of his girlfriend. “One that she fixes and one that I expect one day to have daughters learn to fix after they become traditional homemakers and family wives.”
According to Sykes, feminists push an agenda that they “made up to suit their own nasty snake-filled heads.”
The candidate said that he hoped his daughters do not grow up to be “career obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the top of a thousand tall buildings they are [SIC] think they could have leaped in a single bound — had men not been ‘suppressing them.’ It’s just nuts.”
Sykes ended his rant by insisting that he supports women’s rights “but not the kind that has suppressed natural womanhood for five long decades.”
“But good news,” he concluded. “They’re finished. Ask Hillary.”

“Trump-inspired populism on steroids.”
...In his document, Sykes also says it’s time for social programs implemented in the 20th century to “go away.” He wants to “stop Muslim immigration cold for now.” He wants to eliminate most U.S. laws. And he says those who work in advertising, lawmaking, law enforcement, lobbying and other fields are part of an industry that “employs millions who drink swamp juice every day.”

Holy CRAP.
DeleteI hope there is a female candidate running against that Neanderthal and I hope she wins.
DeleteThere is a female candidate: United States Senator Claire McCaskill. I believe you want her thrown out because she voted to reopen the government earlier this week.

What the hell is the White House doing asking "permission" from Bitch McConnell. It's not like they didn't have his number for blocking Merrick Garland for a year.
ReplyDeleteThey should have said "Fine. Have it your way" and then released all of the information from the White House and framed it as a national security announcement. "This is the information we have and we are doing our duty by informing you, despite Mitch McConnell's efforts to suppress it and keep it from you."
Three weeks before the election.
They might even have staved off Comey's last ditch effort to torpedo Hillary. With that Russian information out there and the media all over it, Comey might have decided not to sabotage Hillary but to go after the Russian connection instead.
Oh come on. That’s a sickening thing to write.
ReplyDeleteIt will take many children of right wing politicians and evangelicals being gunned down in cold blood for there to ever be any common sense gun control. They always say that having guns is the price of their freedumb so let them pay the price. I wouldn't shed a tear if McConnell's kids or Ted Cruz's kids were shot. We're better off without them breeding anyway.
ReplyDeletePlease, don't wish evil on the innocent; isn't it bad enough that their grandparent is so wicked? Leave the little ones out of it.
