Even amid allegations of spousal abuse Rob Porter was in line for a promotion up until he abruptly resigned.

Courtesy of CNN:

Rob Porter was involved in serious discussions to be promoted when he abruptly resigned from the White House last week amid allegations that he abused his two ex-wives, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.

His anticipated elevation further highlights how top White House officials were willing to overlook indications from the FBI that there were potential abuse allegations in his background in exchange for professional competence in a tumultuous West Wing.

Porter had been actively lobbying to take on new policy portfolios outside the traditional scope of the staff secretary, one person familiar with the matter said, which included speechwriting duties and a role in planning policy rollouts. Neither of those tasks is traditionally carried out by the staff secretary.

He was also being considered for the deputy chief of staff position, another source familiar with the situation said. CNN reported Friday that Jim Carroll, who served as the deputy chief of staff for less than three months, was stepping down to helm the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Several White House officials, including chief of staff John Kelly, were receptive to promoting Porter. Kelly had told associates that Porter was one of the few competent professionals on his staff and wanted to ensure that he was being used to his full potential. CNN has reported that Kelly was aware for months of the potential that Porter's ex-wives could present damaging information on him.

Kelly "definitely wanted to expand his role," a source familiar tells CNN.

Like I said it is likely a prerequisite for a job in this White House to be a predator.

And if you actually beat your wife, well hell that's a promotion!

"Even if the money originated from Trump himself, Cohen’s admission could be describing a serious legal violation. Although candidates are allowed to make unlimited contributions to their own campaign, they are not permitted to funnel money off the books to benefit their campaign and then not report it."
"Former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards was prosecuted in federal court for allegedly misusing campaign funds to cover up an affair. The case included allegations that a third party wrote a $200,000 check that was used to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter"

    2. Daniel's says Cohen's admission voids the NDA and she's going to spill everything.

    1. Nice try. Porter’s a Harvard grad, former Rhodes Scholar, and presumably still a Mormon. Bristol? Ya think?

    2. As I said, Harvard grad, former Rhodes Scholar, and a now-tainted but big-deal Washington resume. You’d be surprised how far that goes in Washington. I hope the black eye, etc., discourages potential romantic prospects for Bashin’ Ron Porter.

Maybe these suspicious payments from Trump's campaign to Trump in late 2016—mere weeks after Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels an "unreimbursed" $130,000—will turn out to be outsized transition-period rent costs. Or maybe they won't. Media should investigate it.

‘As Bad as the Comey Firing’: White House Enters Second Week of the Rob Porter ‘Sh*t Show’

It appears that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is turning the lights back on at the House Oversight Committee to press the Trump White House to explain why an alleged wife beater was hired for a sensitive staff position. And why that person was able to keep his job without the proper security clearance.

Given the burgeoning scandal, the move would appear to be a no-brainer. But ever since Trump was inaugurated, Republicans on that crucial House committee, which is chaired by Gowdy, have made sure to give the White House virtual free reign, refusing to hold hearings and hold the executive branch accountable for obvious missteps.

But the current unfolding controversy appears to reached a point where Republicans themselves can no longer ignore the startling set of facts in play.

“How the hell did this happen?” Gowdy asked while appearing on CNN Wednesday morning, in reference to the idea that someone accused of beating his two ex-wives could land a job in the White House, and then keep that job after the FBI informed White House bosses about the abuse claims.

“How do you have any job if you have credible allegations of domestic abuse? Again, I am biased toward the victim,” Gowdy said.

    Good he is out.

You imagine your friend just began to beat on you just out of the blue and you don't even know why. Imagine. That is what rob did. That is what husbands do.
Then one has to cover up the evidence.
Rob then goes out the door and is with people like he did nothing. You could be talking to rob who just an hour ago used his fist to hit a woman in the face and more than one blow in other places so no one can tell.
    SICK!!!!!!
