Hope Hicks finally testifies before the House Intelligence Committee. Decides to pull a "Bannon."

Courtesy of WaPo:

Hope Hicks, one of President Trump’s closest aides and advisers, met Tuesday with House investigators probing Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election. But she refused to answer any questions about events and conversations that occurred since Trump took office, according to a Republican lawmaker who was there during the proceedings.

Emerging from the meeting with Hicks, panel member Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) said that “there are some questions that she’s not going to answer,” adding that Hicks was not willing to detail anything from the inauguration forward.

Her refusal to answer questions about the Trump administration’s tenure suggests lawmakers will have a difficult time learning her side of a key story: the drafting of a misleading statement to explain an unorthodox meeting at Trump Tower between top Trump campaign members and a Russian lawyer.

According to at least one Democrat on the committee to say "We got Bannoned."

However at least one interesting tidbit was revealed during the testimony:

Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, told House investigators on Tuesday that her work for President Trump, who has a reputation for exaggerations and outright falsehoods, had occasionally required her to tell white lies.

But after extended consultation with her lawyers, she insisted that she had not lied about matters material to the investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible links to Trump associates, according to three people familiar with her testimony.

The exchange came during more than eight hours of private testimony before the House Intelligence Committee. Ms. Hicks declined to answer similar questions about other figures from the Trump campaign or the White House.

One has to wonder if she means "white lies" in the sense that they were harmless in nature, or just that they were okay because white people were telling them.?

Once again while I want as many investigations as possible looking into the Russia issue, I simply do not trust this House committee to actually get to any truth.

In fact I heard that they have already started writing their final report with several witnesses still to see. (Well to be honest it's the Democrats who want to see many more witnesses, as far as the Republicans are concerned Hicks was the last one.)

I am actually more interested in what Hicks might tell Mueller.

And I imagine that Mueller will not allow little miss orange stained thighs to pull any of these shenanigans on him or his investigators.

Trump Is Looking To Fire Jeff Sessions And Appoint A New Attorney General To Kill The Russia Investigation

Trump launched an attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday morning that appears designed to open the door for him to recess appoint a new attorney general who will kill the Russia investigation.

    Trump tweeted:

Trump’s attack on Jeff Sessions is a red flag
The reason why this Trump outburst should be taken more seriously than others is that Congress will be out of session beginning on March 24, which means that Trump could fire Sessions and use a recess appointment to appoint a new attorney general who would not have to be recused from the Russia investigation and could fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The end game for Trump hasn’t changed. He is out to get rid of Robert Mueller one way or another. Keep an eye on the White House, because the window is opening for Trump to put his slow roll Saturday Night Massacre into action.

Completely agree. Sessions made his announcement in front of cameras just before 10:30 AM Eastern time yesterday. Trump had all day and evening to say something. All day news came out that piled up one negative thing after another about the Trump White House. Today, Trump finally couldn't take it anymore. I can't stand Sessions but hope he just ignores Trump.

Granted, his headlines are often exaggerated, and his analysis is often just speculation, but I read The Palmer Report religiously on matters of Mueller's investigation because he is often correct. This is his view of the Hope Hicks' appearance before this committee: http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/misreporting-hope-hicks/8394/

I love Palmer's headlines. His and Gryphen's are always so clever. Palmer just hired more writers, too, he said, so more info's been coming his way. One thing I've come to appreciate about the PR and Louise Mensch's Twitter (and yeah, I know she's seen as a conspiracy nut by some) is that when it comes to the rumors about whos's going to get fired, and most of the media is all up in arms about this person or that person, they will predict just the opposite, explain their stance, and turn out to be right.

    2. I follow Louise Mensch on Twitter, too, and lately she has not been saying much. I'm wondering why.

OT, but I just can't stomach this guy, Andrew Pollack, father of victim Meadow Pollack. He is such a big Trump and gun fan and now is spouting off about how anyone who doesn't want a lot of armed people in a school should just send their kids to a different school.

Hitler and Eva Braun, Trump and Hope Hicks. Patterns completely repeat themselves in this horribly chaotic world.
My only sadness about Nazi Germany happening here in the US is that for some odd reason, Syrian children are being put to gas by a evil leader that is being protected by either out country, or the Soviet. What is it about Assad that he is being protected?

An internal company document obtained by ThinkProgress reveals that FedEx’s decision to stand by the NRA has less to do with shipping NRA-branded merchandise and more to do with shipping guns. The document, ThinkProgress notes, “outlines in great detail precisely how FedEx has secretly agreed to bend its own rules on gun shipments for powerful forces in the gun industry, including all major gun manufacturers and the NRA itself.”

A FedEx employee provided the document (labeled “Confidential information. Internal use only”) to ThinkProgress on condition of anonymity, citing their concern that sharing the document would result in termination.

Last November, the alleged gunman, a 19-year-old former student of the high school, legally purchased a gun from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Stack said. The weapon was not the same guns he used in the school attack, but Stack said company officials “had a pit in our stomach” when they found out.

“We looked at this and we went back and we did everything by the book that we were supposed to do from a legal standpoint,” he said. “We followed everything we were supposed to do, and somehow this kid was still able to buy a gun from us. … We need a responsibility to these kids, and we decided we’re not going to sell these anymore.”

After the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School five years ago, the company decided to suspend its sales of assault rifles, but the decision didn’t stick. Stack said that won’t be the case this time.

“We concluded that, if these kids are brave enough to organize and do what they’re doing, we should be brave enough to take the stand and that’s what we’ve done,” he said.

When one of Rick Butler’s young victims first asked why he was assaulting her, that was his answer, according to a new bombshell class-action lawsuit filed against the coach.

Butler was for years considered “most powerful coach in youth volleyball,” according to the 72-page complaint, which alleges that he used his position to rape at least six underage girls “hundreds” of times."

"Is it possible her “white lies” are about things like the coordinated White House cover story about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting in Trump Tower with 50 million Russian spies? “Oh, those emails will never get out,” Hicks reportedly said, according to Mark Corallo, the former spox for Trump’s legal team who resigned, according to Michael Wolff’s book, because he thought he was witnessing obstruction of justice committed in real time by Trump, Hicks, and others, who were traveling home on Air Force One from the G-20 that weekend. As NYT reminds us, Hicks was also involved in the James Comey firing."

Note to Robert Mueller: Hope Hicks Was Part of the Cover-Up

Trump’s aide told one of the biggest Russian whoppers of the campaign.

Hope Hicks’ time in the barrel may come soon. Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly aiming to interview the White House communications director as part of the Trump-Russia investigation. When he and his team of lawyers do so, they presumably will be mindful that the 29-year-old Hicks told one of the biggest whoppers of the 2016 campaign.

Two days after Donald Trump won the election, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the Russian government had been in contact with the Trump campaign. “There were contacts,” he remarked. “We are doing this and have been doing this during the election campaign.” He noted that the Kremlin knew many of Trump’s closest allies and was in touch with them. “Obviously, we know most of the people from his [Trump’s] entourage.” he said. “Those people have always been in the limelight in the United States and have occupied high-ranking positions.” Ryabkov added that these contacts would continue.

This comment contradicted Trump’s claim—which he declared repeatedly through the campaign—that he had nothing to do with Russia. That was often how he responded when asked about Russia’s cyberattacks against the Clinton campaign and other Democratic targets. Though the US intelligence community, a month before the election, released an assessment stating that Russia was trying to subvert the presidential contest, Trump and his lieutenants constantly claimed there was no evidence of Moscow involvement.

So with a senior Russian official now stating that the Trump campaign had interacted with Russians, what was the Trump campaign to do? For Hicks, it was easy. Go with a blanket denial. “It never happened,” she said. “There was no communication between the campaign and any foreign entity during the campaign.”

No communication. That was a wildly false statement. There were many communications—with Russians and foreign entities, including WikiLeaks, which dumped the Democratic emails stolen by Russian intelligence.
