President Donald Trump’s plans for a White House-backed military parade are beginning to take shape.
The president has directed the Department of Defense to organize a parade that would take place on Nov. 11 – Veterans Day – according to an unclassified Feb. 20 memo written by National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster.
The memo, which was summarized to POLITICO by a senior administration official, was sent from McMaster to Secretary of Defense James Mattis. It says that Trump wants Mattis to brief him on “concepts of operation for this event.”
The memo also said that the parade route should begin at the White House and end at the Capitol.
Trump, who revels in pageantry, first floated the idea of putting on a military parade after he witnessed France’s Bastille Day parade last summer as a guest of French president Emmanuel Macron.
Quick question, exactly how much brain damage much you have suffered to actually believe this parade has ANYTHING to do with the veterans?
No this is once again about Trump's overwhelming inferiority complex.
His must be bigger, longer, and more impressive.
And since we know it isn't, he is compelled to produce something that is.
And we know exactly who is is comparing his manhood against, don't we?
Courtesy of the New York Times:
President Trump announced harsh new shipping sanctions against North Korea on Friday — a clear signal, near the end of an Olympic Games marked by a rapprochement on the Korean Peninsula, that his pressure campaign against Pyongyang will not let up.
“Today, I am announcing that we are launching the largest-ever set of new sanctions on the North Korean regime,” Mr. Trump was set to say to the Conservative Political Action Conference, according to excerpts of his remarks released by the White House.
And then there's this just today:
Speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the White House, Trump said that if the sanctions don’t work “we’ll have to go to phase two,” which he said “may be a very rough thing.”
“We'll have to see,” Trump said. “I don't think I'm going to exactly play that card. But we'll have to see. If the sanctions don't work we'll have to go to phase two. Phase two may be a very rough thing. May be very, very unfortunate for the world.”
“But hopefully the sanctions will work,” Trump added. “We have tremendous support all around the world for what they're doing. It really is a rogue nation. If they can make a deal it will be a great thing. If we can't, something will have to happen. So we'll see.”.@POTUS on North Korea: "If the sanctions don't work we'll have to go phase two and phase two may be a very rough thing. "Very rough thing for the WORLD." Not just North Korea, but the world. Keep that in mind folks.
In the past American presidents KNEW that they had nothing to prove, and that they could walk softly because they had a giant stick.
Trump apparently does feel he has such a stick.
And based on his history, he never has.
Which makes him dangerous, very, very dangerous.
Will this nightmare ever end?
ReplyDeletein November, hopefully. it's days are numbered, one way or another. he's headed for a major heart attack. such a pig.
DeleteMaybe the criminal will be in Gitmo by Nov. he can ask the cubans for a parade.
ReplyDeleteBy the way,did they mention where the $$ is coming from to pay for the megalomanic's parade, seniors or children?
Here's hoping T.Rump, the short fingered vulgarian will be proving his non-existent manhood fighting his celly, Big Bubba, over the extra bed-bug infested blanket by next November 11.

I sent a letter to the Pentagon expressing my dismay and outrage over this idea when it came to light (-again: it was quashed the *first* time when Trumplethinskin posited it for the Inaugural Parade). I stated that as a daughter of a cold-war veteran (now deceased, buried with honors), the idea of a Stalinesque military parade made me sick to my stomach. We don't flaunt our might with chest-thumping, jingoistic displays of forced patriotism; we don't HAVE TO. True leadership is displayed with quiet authority, not loud, braggadocious, ostentatious, frippery! I also called it a waste of time, money and personnel that could be better spent elsewhere; if we truly wanted to honor our veterans, invest in VETERANS' SERVICES! IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND THOSE OF THEIR FAMILIES!
ReplyDeleteAnd make no mistake, most of the service-members that are supposedly being 'honored' know the scoop. *They* are not the ones this parade is truly for, no matter what gaslighting explanations are thrown out there. And they certainly are not happy about practicing for hours, days, months on end, and having to be pulled away from their duties and families for a dick measuring contest. Let's call this what it truly is.

Dan Rather just issued a dire warning to the NRA and Republicans that should terrify them
Dan Rather, the legendary former CBS News anchor and astute political observer, has just weighed in on the events of the past week with a Facebook post commenting on the unexpected rise and unprecedented success of the teenage activist-survivors of the Parkland, Florida school massacre.
Rather begins his comments with a warning about the obstacles the NRA and others who make a handsome profit from their jobs as merchants of death will place in the way of the #NeverAgain teens’ path to achieving their goals...

Trump's horrendous CPAC speech
ReplyDeletePresident Trump's speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference started out as a relatively tame performance touting signature accomplishments such as tax cuts and judicial nominations, but it took an ugly turn as he moved to the topic of immigration, broadly painting those who come here as a result of the lottery system as "horrendous."

Horrendous, was he refering to his ex wife or the current one?
DeleteI understand he wandered off to criticizing the media again and bragging about his hair. I'm sure "it's all mine." was repeated over and over.

i love that float. it should lead the parade. now we are spending millions of dollars on a parade so trump can pretend to be a general. let's tear up the road. let's drag weapons that are better left unsaid into the open.let's drag away military from their posts. all because cadet bone spurs has a tiny penis. this bastard finds a way to piss me off every day. let's have a parade so people will forget the Russian thing-of the dead kids killed by the NRA! GO TO HELL TRUMP!! i.m sure Hitler will be pleased to meet you!

Delete"The criminal information document released by special counsel Robert Mueller ahead of Trump campaign aide Rick Gates’ guilty plea on Friday contains prominent references to “a member of Congress” who met in 2013 with future Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and another lobbyist.
HuffPost has identified that member as Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), a loudly pro-Russia lawmaker who has drawn the attention of Mueller and congressional investigators probing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Mueller has not yet interviewed Rohrabacher, the congressman’s spokesman told HuffPost on Friday in a message that also confirmed the 2013 meeting with Manafort. But Mueller’s team wanted to interview Rohrabacher as of late last year, according to news reports, and the criminal information released in advance of Gates’ plea suggests they were asking about Rohrabacher recently. The congressman has already been interviewed by the House and Senate Intelligence committees.
Gates has told a court that he lied to federal investigators on Feb. 1, 2018, about his knowledge of the meeting between Rohrabacher, Manafort and lobbyist Vin Weber when he falsely claimed he did not know Ukraine was discussed. Ukraine is one of the top foreign policy concerns of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Manafort spent years working for Ukrainian politicians close to Moscow. And Rohrabacher was one of only a few U.S. lawmakers to oppose American assistance to a new government in Ukraine established in 2014 after protests against Putin’s allies in that country."
Ooooooo. Lying. That's not good. Federal prosecutors take lying very seriously.
He's up for re-election and facing a tough fight. This sure isn't going to help.

I remember reading that Trump wanted a military parade for his inauguration. It was denied and all he got was a 20 plane flyover. It isn't surprising that he wants one now. He never lets go of anything when someone tells him no.

I can't imagine that he won't have been impeached or arrested by November. Hopefully this waste of money parade will never happen, and they can just give the money directly to the vets.
