Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein visited the White House in December seeking President Donald Trump's help. The top Justice Department official in the Russia investigation wanted Trump's support in fighting off document demands from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes.
But the President had other priorities ahead of a key appearance by Rosenstein on the Hill, according to sources familiar with the meeting. Trump wanted to know where the special counsel's Russia investigation was heading. And he wanted to know whether Rosenstein was "on my team."
Talk about deja vu.
Didn't Trump ask Comey a similar question right before he had him fired?
So Rosenstein goes to Trump in order to have a reasonable conversation about the release of a sensitive, and potentially damaging memo, and instead he meets a cheap knock off version of the Godfather hinting that he needs to play ball or possibly end up swimming with the fishes.
And keep in mind this was ONLY LAST MONTH, so Trump clearly KNOWS that this is yet another example of attempting to obstruct Mueller's investigation.
Despite what that Atlantic journalist wrote about the outcome of the Mueller probe, clearly Donald Trump is in a blind panic about what he might uncover.
By the way Trump's lawyers are now arguing that Robert Mueller has not yet met the bar for interviewing their client:

Sources said this is an ongoing negotiation and the position by the President's lawyers is not a final stance.
Nice try, but I think the bar was met quite some time ago.
They're doing everything they can to save Trump's rump. But American justice isn't that bad yet. They'll fail. Putin will fail.
