Former President Barack Obama is in advanced negotiations with Netflix to produce a series of high-profile shows that will provide him a global platform after his departure from the White House, according to people familiar with the discussions.
Under terms of a proposed deal, which is not yet final, Netflix would pay Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, for exclusive content that would be available only on the streaming service, which has nearly 118 million subscribers around the world. The number of episodes and the formats for the shows have not been decided.
Mr. Obama does not intend to use his Netflix shows to directly respond to President Trump or conservative critics, according to people familiar with discussions about the programming. They said the Obamas had talked about producing shows that highlight inspirational stories.
But the Netflix deal, while not a direct answer to Fox News or Breitbart.com, would give Mr. Obama an unfiltered method of communication with the public similar to the audiences he already reaches through social media, with 101 million Twitter followers and 55 million people who have liked his Facebook page.
Damn I love everything about this.
Two of my favorite things in the world right now are Netflix and Barack Obama, and the idea of the two coming together is blowing my mind.
I watch at least two hours of Netflix every single day (Hell I'm watching Jessica Jones as I write this very post.) and I am always looking for upbeat inspirational shows to offset the doom and gloom that permeates our current reality.
There are also very few things that bring a smile to my face faster than seeing my favorite former President in action, and hearing what he has to say.
Can you tell I'm excited? Cause, I'm excited.
Oh, man. He is so going to get Trump where he is most vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteObama is going to be a reality star, just like Trump.
But Obama is going to have a much HIGHER rating and viewership.
Plus, I'll lay odds that Obama *will* win that Emmy that Trump so desperately wanted and never got.
Oh, this is so going to burn the orange anus.
Love First Lady Michelle and President Obama! And, will assuredly watch President Obama's Netflix production.
ReplyDeleteBetcha his viewership will be much, much higher (and of better quality) than that of anything Trump!
Oh this is delicious! Wasn't there talk that Trump* was running just to publicize his "brand" and start Trump TV after the election? Rub his nose in it Prez O!

Love the idea, however there is so much content now that I know my husband and I are having a hard time keeping up with it. All the cable channels, Hulu, Netflix, Prime and a huge backlog on our DVR means that we are at least 6 months behind on so many things we'd love to have the time to watch.
ReplyDeleteI do hope there are people that have time to catch what he has to say, I like most will catch the "spoilers" and relevant bits online because there is simply no time to consume everything.

Something else to consider:
ReplyDeleteTwice (legitimately elected) President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize in his first year in office (2009).
https://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2009/press.html
*president Trump (hopefully soon to be served with Articles of Impeachment, or at least charged with obstruction of justice) earned the lowest approval ratings at the end of his first year in office since they started taking the poll...

"Someone" forged a nomination for Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize not once but TWICE!
DeleteGee. I wonder who would do that?

"Denhollander, now a 33-year-old lawyer and mother of three, has not gone away. Instead, she has turned her attention to another sexual abuse scandal—this one in her own evangelical community.
The alleged cover-up of a pattern of child sexual abuse within a large Protestant network now called Sovereign Grace Churches has been a major story in American evangelicalism since 2012. That’s when a lawsuit was filed alleging a pattern of sexual and spiritual abuse within the network—and not just abuse itself, but pressure to “forgive” those actions, internal policies discouraging reports to law enforcement, and ostracism for families who refused to help cover up crimes. The suit was dismissed in 2014, but a former youth leader, Nathaniel Morales, was convicted in a separate case of abusing three boys. In an attempt to move on from the thorny and slow-moving scandal, Sovereign Grace tweaked its name, moved its headquarters from Maryland to Kentucky"
That does it! I’m through. Done. Done through resisting a Netflix subscription! I’m signing up!
