This is something that the pro-choice folks should be talking about constantly.

Studies have proven that good sex education and access to birth control prevents far more abortions than any draconian anti-abortion laws passed by Republicans ever could.

Very good point. However, we all know by now that anti-abortionists aren’t about saving the fetus. It’s about controlling the mother. A woman is more likely forego educational or career plans if she is pregnant or has young children. And that makes them much more likely to depend on the father for support.

And having a pregnant woman die of complications is the ultimate “pro-life” wet dream.

"In January, communications and public opinion research firm PerryUndem released The State of the Union on Gender Equality, Sexism, and Women’s Rights, a study that shows voters who want to see Roe v. Wade overturned have markedly different views on gender roles than voters who do not. Nearly two-thirds of anti-Roe voters agreed they were “more comfortable with women having traditional roles in society, such as caring for children and the family.” Only 31 percent of pro-Roe voters agreed with that statement. Two-thirds of anti-Roe voters agreed that “male politicians can represent the interests of women as well as female politicians can.” Only 27 percent of pro-Roe voters agreed with that statement.

There’s more. Nearly two-thirds of anti-abortion voters disagreed with the statement that “men should not have a say in legislating what women do with their bodies” and almost half of them disagreed with the statement that “the country would be better off with more women in political office.”

This new data suggests what pro-choice activists have long suspected: that opposition to abortion is not just about hostility to abortion or even discomfort with women’s sexuality. At its core, opposition to abortion is about keeping women from having power in the public square. Once we acknowledge the anti-abortion movement’s anti-feminism, the group’s alliance with the president makes far more sense."

"Many members of the anti-abortion movement insist they are neither anti-woman nor anti-equality. Some even try to appropriate the label of feminist in their quest to overturn Roe v. Wade and support fake clinics that lie to women about abortion and their bodies. Yet, plain facts and polling show what anti-abortion voters believe about women, and it’s not pretty. The anti-abortion policy agenda is not pro-life, and its dear leaders are blatantly sexist. If they get their way on Roe and abortion rights, why would they stop there? "

Stop there? I'm certain there is an ALEC bill already written that will take away our vote. They are just waiting for the right state and the right legislature to unroll it in.

    2. They can't do it on a state level.

But they've got 33 Republican governors. I think they need 36 to open a Constitutional convention, at which point they can add or retract any amendments they want.

That's why the push to take over at the local levels. Something the Democratic Party ignored for decades, focusing only on Congress.

It's a long game. And right now we are losing.

Well, Junior apparently knows how to buy sex as well as Daddy. Vanessa looked the other way long enough. She and the kids will be fine. Junior is going to prison for money laundering anyway.

    2. What? Junior didn't have his wife sign an NDA and pre-nup? I'm sure he'll do better with #2. By #3 he'll be importing them from eastern Europe, just like dear old Dad.

And keeping in the family tradition, they will all be blonde.

What the anti-choice people want is punishment. It's that simple. If a woman gets pregnant and is not happy about it, then she should be punished. If it means that she dies as a result of a botched back-alley abortion, so much the better. I've always found it curious that the anti-choice people always shout that they care only about the baby and never even mention the father when what they only care about is blaming, shaming and punishing the mother. The father is always an "innocent" victim.

If the anti-choice people really cared about children, we would have universal health care, serious gun control laws, excellent social networks including child care, education, and housing. No, the only goal is to punish the mother.

I bet Trump and his adult sons have paid for a lot of abortions.

Dad prefers no protection, his sons are likely the same. Poor Barron, who is teaching him sex ed? He will ignore them and learn from Dad's press. His family says one thing and does another. Why would he use protection if he doesn't like it?

The Trump Organization must have an corporate entity devoted to abortions for their sex business.

Ah yes, the religious right. While they're at it, why not put "obey" back into the bride's wedding vows?

Many young couples aren't bothering with that hitorical artifact called a wedding anywway anymore. UNless you need health insurance coverage, not much reason to do so.

At a 52% divorce rate, why bother? Even the "sainted" Bristol couldn't keep her legs closed to anyone but her husband. Some vows!

No where in the bible does Jesus command people to use condoms. Doing so would therefore be akin to sinning against Christ, and result in eternal fiery damnation.

    Hahahahahah.

Sadly, a massive portion of fundamentalists/etc believe this.
They are SO LITERAL that they go to a restaurant and eat the menu, rather than the food it describes.
