“No one could imagine the unimaginable,” said writer Jonathan Greenberg Friday on CNN. “No one can imagine someone would do this, call as their own PR person.”
But it happened, of course. And Greenberg was one of those duped by President Donald Trump into believing he was talking to The Donald’s PR flack, “John Barron” — when, in fact, he was talking to The Donald. Greenberg was reporting for Forbes in 1984, helping to compile the magazine’s Forbes 400 List. As part of a piece for the Washington Post Friday, Greenberg shared audio of his calls with Barron, and recalled how the mogul tried to convince the magazine he was worth more than he actually was.
'Although Trump altered some cadences and affected a slightly stronger New York accent, it was clearly him. “Barron” told me that Trump had taken possession of the business he ran with his father, Fred. “Most of the assets have been consolidated to Mr. Trump,” he said. “You have down Fred Trump [as half owner] . . . but I think you can really use Donald Trump now.” Trump, through this sockpuppet, was telling me he owned “in excess of 90 percent” of his family’s business. With all the home runs Trump was hitting in real estate, Barron told me, he should be called a billionaire.'
Greenberg also referred to Trump as the "consummate con man." Which is something that I think is more than obvious to most of us.
I have to think at some point there will come a time when the people who voted for Donald Trump, and this might be a few years in the future, are really going to start hating themselves for being so fucking gullible.
Don't you think?
Or am I giving them too much credit?
If there's three words harder for drumpfsters to utter, it's "I was wrong." I read their comment sections for amusement. "You can't possibly believe that!" They do.
ReplyDeleteYes, Gryphen, I think you are giving those who voted for him too much credit. They are going to find it very difficult to admit they were bamboozled by this "consummate con man".
ReplyDeleteI may NEVER forgive those gullible enough to vote for that LIAR. And I believe each and every paid republican servant be immediately recalled and removed from public service and stripped of their benefits, pensions and investments. It is time that these crooks be held liable and accountable for the damage they caused.
ReplyDeleteI believe a surprising amount of these voters were NOT gullible about who Trump is.
DeletePart of Trump’s appeal is to some of the worst traits of humanity: racism, misogyny, bigotry, selfishness, greed, narcissism, etc, etc... Trump has consistently displayed these traits and has never faced any real consequences for doing so.
I think a lot of people upset about one issue or another voted for Trump as a way to live vicariously through him. The more unhinged he becomes, the more they love him, as long as he keeps getting away with it.
Absolutely. My BIL is one of these. Married to a Filipino with half Filipino kids. Narcissistic and rude to the hilt. Used "chain" migration to get free babysitting from wife's grandmother for decades.
DeleteTrump is the most disgusting lying pos on the planet.
ReplyDeleteHe's going off on twitter again this morning. What a miserable excuse for a human being is he.

Just observing that this is the morning of Barbara Bush’s funeral in Houston and the official presidential messages so far are about “flunkies,” “drunk/drugged up losers” and “the horrible Witch Hunt.”

JFC, we are witnessing a real-time, full on break down. If he had not the access to the nuclear codes, I'd relish this. As it stands, however, I'm terrified. I've never been so terrified. This is what my mom must have felt like when my dad was deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Our only hope is rational, sane men in the military to stand against him should he give the orders... and I don't have much hope of *that* anymore...
People who voted for Trump were voting for the character he played on “The Apprentice”. Trump is a con man, and he’s very good at duping people. Prisons are filled with people just like him.

"To avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service, President Trump will not attend."

Poor thing is the chosen entertainment for the nasty old republican cons sent by the old ugly nasty dotard himself. Here, here is my "model" loyal gift from my friend putin, a low class female escort with the photos and all to confirm it. The pussy was grabbed and tagged by trump himself. Enjoy Republicans. The so called wife of the biggest disgraceful liar on earth at the Barbara Bush Funeral. What would Barbara say about this? I think I know.
Delete6:33 AM - Same thing she said about $arah: Go home and STAY there.
DeleteBarbara Bush made it *crystal* clear how she felt about Trumplethinskin. She had no respect for him; held him in utter contempt. And well the world knows now how he repays those who do not kneel before his 'Royal Orangeness'...
DeleteEither that or for once he's heeded orders to stay away from an event to avoid an embarrassing scene. No wonder he's throwing a twittertantrum.
Addendum to my comment above (I'm 8:03 AM); Trumplethinskin has continued his twittertantrum and made it *worse*. He just *had* to put his two cents in (I'm telling you, he's like Palin on steroids, you can't tell *him* what to do!) and 'pay his respect to the Bush family' from Mar-a-Loco. Called it the 'Southern White House' (No racist dog-whistle there, no-sirree! /s) Sure thinks that he's 'showing us', ha, ha! He just proved Barbara Bush's point, after all.

It's hard enough to admit you were wrong about some strong belief you had held, but when your heart is filled with hate and greed, I would imagine this would be almost impossible....

DeleteJesus has saved these voters.
ReplyDeleteThey cannot see, blinded and bound to idolatry.
So, no, they won't and can't see. And the tribalism of that demands they better not even think of trying to see.
What a fucking lifelong death sentence, this whole "born sinner" western concept of the beauty of life.
It has always seemed obvious to me that Trump used the last name "Barron," (he used it with other reporters as well), because there was a weekly financial paper published by the WSJ called "Barron's."
ReplyDeleteHe thought he'd get some reflected glory by using the name.
Then he named his son Barron. The poor child will have enough trauma to live with all his life. Now he'll know that his father named him after one of his fake aliases.
You got that RIGHT!

TRUE THIS> "Nine years ago, a lawyer representing Trump Atlantic City casino creditors says he got threatening phone calls. The FBI traced one of them to a payphone outside the “Late Show With David Letterman,” where Trump was appearing.
ReplyDelete“My name is Carmine,” the caller told the lawyer, Kristopher Hansen, in 2009. “I don’t know why you’re fucking with Mr. Trump but if you keep fucking with Mr. Trump, we know where you live and we’re going to your house for your wife and kids.” BuzzFeed’s Jason Leopold (again) first reported the incident.
In 2015, a reporter covering Ivana Trump’s claim that Trump raped her says he was threatened by Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen.
“I’m warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting,” the Daily Beast’s Tim Mak, recalled Cohen telling him. “You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up … for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet.”" {+he Raped A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL tOO}
