Seriously, what in the hell would make you trust me? |
Facebook on Wednesday said that the data of up to 87 million users may have been improperly shared with a political consulting firm connected to President Trump during the 2016 election — a figure far higher than the estimate of 50 million that had been widely cited since the leak was reported last month.
Facebook had not previously disclosed how many accounts had been harvested by Cambridge Analytica, the firm connected to the Trump campaign. It has also been reluctant to disclose how it was used by Russian-backed actors to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Among Facebook’s acknowledgments on Wednesday was the disclosure of a vulnerability in its search and account recovery functions that it said could have exposed “most” of its 2 billion users to having their public profile information harvested.
So to be clear this 87 million number STILL may not prove accurate, as essentially every Facebook user's information could have been "harvested," which sounds like a fancy word for "stolen."
So now Zuckerberg is claiming that Facebook will now provide the tools for users to better control who accesses their information, but keep in mind that they have known about this for years and only started to give a shit when journalists reported on the multiple breaches.
At least least Tom Anderson of MySpace pretended to be our friend.

Texas also cautions homeowners with pools and children. Has anyone checked to see if the pool Dakota installed is safe and properly fenced?
Bristol stopped posing inside or in the back. She now poses in the front drive area.
Are you going to do a post on your broken life, embarrassingly reduced to internet stalking people you don't know and their kids?
DeleteNo one seems to care about her FAS so why be concerned about a fractured limb? Par for the course for a kid like that, clumsy and accident-prone is the least of her worries in this life she was given by her alcoholic mother.
Deleterump's genitalia and some toddlers arm? What's the deal? Each is unique and deserving on their own.
Delete11:28 AM Is for the neighbors in Texas. There is nothing worse than to have a child drown in your neighborhood. Any other death or harm is also awful. Fencing a pool is something that is relative easy to do to keep the little ones safe. It is also something simple to check out.

DeleteThe only people who can help a FAS child with parents that neglect her is Child Protection. It doesn't matter what comments say. If there is an issue, the right agency needs to look into it before they can see to it that a child has help.
With the Palins, keep in mind Trig. He could have had a better life and been able to eat and not poo his pants had Alaska's child protection been functioning. I am sure people did try and get him the attention he needed. Sarah and Todd were able to neglect him due to how the state and child protection is run in Alaska.
I don't know how it is in Texas. I hope for the best for the children. It is worth trying to keep the state and protection agents aware. They can look into doctor reports and see if there are possible cover ups.
I don't know enough about FAS to ad that to what I believe is pertinent for the Texas authorities to probe. Anyone with information and concerns can do something by informing authorities.
DeleteBecause nothing happens right away does not mean nothing is being done. Meyer and Palin could be on the state's radar already or the cover ups are more like when in Alaska.
Neither family does anything when children are abused, remember all Track did and the years of cover ups. Dakota knew about the crimes towards women and children. He did nothing. He was complicit in the family crimes toward the abused. He was in the family that enabled Track. If he is also an abuser it makes sense he would cover for the Palins and expect them to cover for him.
These abuse/neglect situations can take years before they hit the fan. Down the road, if Tripp has a bad time at school and acts up. That could be the report that triggers things and all the accumlated incidents, doctor visits and all would become part of the bigger matter. Don't give up just because you don't know what the authorities know or what they are doing.
Do something about your sincere concerns. Never give up.
She could have a calcium deficiency since they eat crap and don't drink milk.
DeleteDepending on your particular concerns you can either call the Hot Line or use the website.
DeleteMalnourishment is absolutely neglect. Bristol may give her vitamins thinking that will make up for bad food. She possibly gets some dairy with ice cream and progressed boxed mac and cheese. When she was on the bottle she may have had Enfamil type drink.
https://www.txabusehotline.org/Login/Default.aspx
It is impossible to know precisely what is wrong. She really needs professionals to explore all the concerns. It is tragic that children, from what can appear to some to be a normal middle or upper middle class family, can actually be suffering from malnutrition.
Which is thought of as a 3rd world problem.
"If undernutrition occurs during pregnancy, or before two years of age, it may result in permanent problems with physical and mental development."

ReplyDeleteI like fb. It's fun. Friends you didn't know you had come out of the woodworks. Relatives say they love and respect you to get likes from their friends. You get to see your' former highschool classmates be fat and old with a secret glee. It's like we live in one big village. Nothing is secret. But when Russia uses this against us, that's not a good thing. We knew it would eventually happen too right? But I really hate twitter because everytime Trump gets a brain fart we have to hear about it. And congress. Where are they? What have they been up to? And please don't post about Sailor's broken arm. Poor kid. My kid broke her arm at five jumping on a bed when her cousin swept her off her feet and she tried to break her fall and I heard crack. It was horrors.
No one in my immediate family has ever been on facebook, we have photo sharing drop boxes and email or call on a regular basis. I'd be horrified if anyone from my high school or college tried to stay in touch!
DeleteFriendships tend to be proximity-based in my life and once I move on I never even think about those folks I used to hang out with. Us misanthropes find facebook connectivity horrifying!
Heard Tripp got rough with Sailor and her disease also gives her weak bones so no surprise at the broken arm. Mama should have reminded Tripp to be more careful with his special sister.
DuhKota makes a scene out of what an engaged, protective, caring father he is. He does his little diddies about his girls, caring so much about them, you know?
DeleteYes, we had a few rough scraps. With the first born any little thing was monumental for us. It would be the topic of communications.
DuhKota is like that. That's why I don't get his silent reaction. As if it did not happen to his first born. It says alot about Duhkota and the arm incident.

Read a piece in the New York times about Lisa Murkowski. In it she was quoted as having said "after all I am a Republican." and that reminded me of the scorpion story. You know where the scorpion talked the reluctant turtle across the water promising not to sting him, and then promptly stung him. And when the befuddled and dying turtle asked the scorpion why, the scorpion replied, "because I am a scorpion. This is Lisa Murkowski. And she did nothing like the article said she did. If she did it was a fluke. No one in the so called Republican party has stood up to their Fuhrer.

Delete"NEW YORK (AP) — Facebook’s No. 2 executive says the company should have conducted an audit after learning that a political consultancy improperly accessed user data nearly three years ago.
DeleteChief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg told NBC’s “Today” show that at the time, Facebook received legal assurances that Cambridge Analytica had deleted the improperly obtained information.
“What we didn’t do is the next step of an audit and we’re trying to that now,” she said.
The audit of Cambridge Analytica is on hold, in deference to a U.K. investigation. But Facebook has been conducting a broader review of its own practices and how other third-party apps use data.
The company is facing a global backlash over the improper data-sharing scandal. Hearings over the issue are scheduled in the U.S., and the European Union is considering what actions to take against the company.
Sandberg gave several interviews this week as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg prepares to testify before Congress next week. The company is also facing an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission in what’s become its worst privacy crisis in its 14-year history.
It started with revelations that Cambridge Analytica, a data-mining firm, improperly accessed the private information of tens of millions of users to try to influence elections around the world. Over the past three weeks the scandal continued to spiral. For one, Facebook executives took nearly five days to respond to the Cambridge Analytica reports.
Then, some users who logged in to Facebook through Android devices discovered that Facebook had been collecting information about phone calls they made and text messages they sent. Facebook also acknowledged this week that nearly all of its 2.2 billion users may have had their public data scraped by “malicious actors” it did not name." TPM

— A Facebook spokesman responded to questions about the contributions by pointing to an April 2017 statement the company issued to employees about "political engagement." It said it is important for the company to "develop relationships with elected officials ... who share our vision of an open Internet."
The statement described the company's PAC and said decisions about which candidates get support are based on whether their policy positions are consistent with the company's "and whether the candidate holds a key committee or leadership position."
A spokesman for Democrats on the House committee, C.J. Young, said he could not discuss campaign contributions. —
