Just in case you were wondering who was responsible for the attack on Syria yesterday, well the answer of course is Fox News.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

On Friday morning, Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt suggested that military strikes in Syria could be useful to divert attention from the unflattering portrayal of President Trump contained in former FBI Director James Comey’s book.

“If the president, and France, and the U.K decide to strike Syria, don’t you think that story would be a bigger story than Comey’s book that’s released on Tuesday?” she said.

Earhardt’s suggestion came while Trump is reportedly still considering a potential military strike against Syria — and amid an edition of Fox & Friends that was largely devoted to sullying Comey’s reputation.

That's right folks, we now live in a country where the foreign policy is determined by an airhead sitting on a couch spouting nonsense to a cable news audience.

A cable news audience which includes the president of the United States.

By the way if you are looking for a little bright spot of joy to be taken from this attack on Syria, you can find it by watching Alex Jones lose his mind over his hero's decision to launch this military strike.
And it gets even better.
I think perhaps this is the base that Trump was trying to hold onto.

There are actually a LOT of these videos of Jones frothing at the mouth and screaming expletives at his cameraman, but they are too over the top to show even here on IM.

By the way, I for one am not distracted from the Mueller investigation, or the FBI investigation of Michael Cohen. Just in case anybody was wondering.

Well, Alex Jones must realize that in Trump's eyes, he never counted. He was just an aider and abeder. The end.
And Trump's other bases will also soon find that out.
When it comes to Donald, there is only Donald.
And now he rains death not on a military or assad but women and children.
The Doctors with no borders could tell you that this is happening because they will be trying to help these people under horrendous conditions.
I use to think why didn't people back in the day stop their so called leaders from sending men to Vietnam but now I see that we live in a place where any crazy person can become president and wage war on a whim.
Sad thing, is in Vietnam the Russians backed those people, and now here we go again. Sigh. Humans. We can not learn from the past at this point.
My heart goes out to the women and children of war. Men be damned!

I am thinking this was "staged" and no one has told the allies.
News reports say Syria, Russia & Iran shrugged about the attack.
Well if that is not obvious. :/
This "Lord of War" tactic is bad.

It was all about creating a distraction. Asshat let his butt buddy Putin know,in advance. He's trying to create a war/martial law so he can't be frog marched out of Our Whitehouse. Mondays coming and creep Cohen has to submit a list of his clients to the judge. He wanted to be able to sift thru the info gathered by fbi,and remove crucial info claiming other client's privileged info. *Dump's his only client.

According to the new Post-ABC News poll almost 70% of Americans support Mueller’s investigation into collusion of the Trump campaign with Russia, only only 25% oppose it. This is evidence that if Trump tries to get rid of Mueller it may be the dumbest political move of all time. (In fact many Democrats hope it happens because it would turn the 2018 Blue Wave into a Blue Tsunami.)

According to the poll, big majorities also indicate they approve of the special counsel investigating Trump’s business activities and also investigating hush money payments by Cohen to women who had affairs with the president. Inquiring minds what to know the truth, and trust Mueller to get it!

Trump’s Russia Defense Lawyers Advised Him On Syrian Airstrike Decision

...The Syrian attack was the culmination of a week that ‘infuriated’ Trump

As the report noted, the strike in Syria was the culmination of a week in which Trump was “infuriated” by a flurry of scandal revelations that hit the press – from the FBI raids of Michael Cohen’s offices to the explosive James Comey book.

If there was ever a time this president needed a major distraction from of all his scandals, including the ongoing Russia investigation, now was it – and the Syrian bombings gave him the perfect opportunity.

It’s unknown why Trump would bring in his Russia legal defense team to advise him on the Syrian operation, but this president has given us no reason to believe he wouldn’t use military action to divert attention from his smoldering dumpster fire of a presidency.

Last night Donald Trump spent a quarter billion dollars of YOUR MONEY to distract from his corruption, election fraud, and affair with a porn star.

    Mission accomplished.

Today's "Mission Accomplished" tweet ties the century's two great American tragedies together. George Bush's massive deception squandered millions of lives and trillions, trapping America and leading inexorably to Donald Trump, himself installed on the basis of a historic deceit.

So basically the tweet about bombing Syria last week was so they could move all their assets elsewhere & we could waste billions bombing empty areas & Trump could yell "mission accomplished" while wagging his dick, I mean the dog, & therefore distracting from his investigation

War Fever Heats Up As Russians Burn Effigies of Trump
Trump’s tweet about U.S. missiles blasting past Russian defenses in Syria left many Russians thinking the Motherland might be next. Plus: oligarch sanctions and military exercises.

    Donald Trump Goes to War
If it becomes apparent that the president is using military action to remake his presidency, we should hope for sober but firm skepticism from the public, the media and Congress.

Many of President Donald Trump’s top media allies blasted him over the decision to launch strikes against Syria on Friday.

In one major conservative media ecosystem after another, the president met opposition, and concern about the financial cost of another foreign intervention, from many of the people who are normally his most vocal cheerleaders.

Bill Maher quipped on “Real Time” that the military action against Syria should be called “Operation Desert Stormy” — for Stormy Daniels, the adult entertainment actress who says she had an affair with Trump.

Maher joked that Trump got the “go-ahead” for the strikes from “Fox & Friends.” Program co-host Ainsley Earhardt had asked early Friday, “If the president and France and the U.K. decide to strike Syria, don’t you think that story would be a bigger story than [former FBI Director James] Comey’s book that’s going to be released on Tuesday?”

Scholar of fascism explains why Trump’s ‘Desert Stormy’ airstrike is a total sham

...“Mr. Trump’s condemnation of Bashar al-Assad is both disingenuous and self-serving,” she writes. “His sudden concern over chemical weapons is as contrived as it was last year, when under a similar firestorm of scandal Trump launched strikes into Syria in an operation that did nothing for Syrians but plenty for Mr. Trump, winning him praise from gullible pundits who deemed him ‘presidential’ overnight.”

We must be wary of praising Trump for firing missiles, because “world war a real possibility” now that Trump has tapped warmonger John Bolton as a security adviser, she says.

“[N]one of these actions have anything to do with aiding Syrians or stopping Assad. They are about Mr. Trump’s own deadly calculus – self-destruction as he faces legal jeopardy, or world destruction as an attempt at distraction, with Bolton and possibly Putin as his enablers.”

Are we still ignoring the fact that the strike was performed in coordination with the military assistance and coordination with the UK and France?

Are we also still ignoring that so many IMer's were recently saying Trump was doing nothing to help the people of Syria, leaving it for the Russians?
