Rachel Maddow is killing it.

Courtesy of Forbes:

In March, The Rachel Maddow Show finished as the highest-rated show in cable news, with an average total audience of 3.058 million viewers--the show's best-ever performance in the 9 p.m. ET hour. FNC's Hannity was second, with 3.000 million viewers. Maddow also won among viewers 25-54, the demographic most valued by advertisers, finishing March with an average audience of 671,000 compared to Hannity's 616,000. CNN finished a distant third in the hour, with 382,000 viewers 25-54.

MSNBC has been experiencing a dramatic rise in ratings, finishing the first quarter of 2018 as the only cable news network to grow compared to Q1 2017: MSNBC ratings were up 30%, while both Fox News and CNN experienced declines.

In March, MSNBC's programming in prime time, daytime and total day all broke records for the network. The network's prime-time lineup averaged 2.398 million total viewers, finishing as the No. 2 network across all of cable TV. While Fox News continued its run as the top-rated network in cable news, MSNBC's prime lineup was up 8% from 2017, while both Fox (down 18 percent) and CNN (down 16 percent) were off year-over-year.

The March ratings results suggest Fox News' unrivaled status as the dominant force in cable news may be facing one of the strongest challenges in years.

I know that people are starting to turn away from cable news, and looking for alternative information sources, but for my money MSNBC is consistently the highest quality news that you can get via television.

Their reporting is top notch, they have tons of contributors from the world of print journalism, and they deliver the facts in a straightforward manner.

Sure they lean left, but then typically so do the facts.

And Rachel Maddow is clearly the shining jewel in the MSNBC crown.

Even if I think I know a story that I have been reporting on all day, she will almost always add a different dimension to it, and dredge up facts that had not yet been reported.

By the way she also terrifies those on the Right, who constantly attack her, and Donald Trump, who takes great pains not to.

I've always noticed that Trump doesn't go after Rachel. I think he knows she is much smarter, better informed and better researched than her competitors. He knows he cannot compete against her verbally or knowledge wise. Bottom line, he's afraid of her!

I never miss her show which is on MSNBC every evening Monday through Friday. Recommend it to everyone.

The Dr. Maddow show is the best in the
country! And yes, she has her doctorate although never reflects it on her show or when she is broadcasting. She's extremely well educated and it shows.

    1. It's long been my sense that Maddown is the spirit child that Edward R. Murrow and Linda Ellerbee might have had, with her 'father's' intelligent, sober delivery and her 'mother's' laser-precise sarcasm. She is a liberal's oasis these days, and never disappoints.

I don't think the reason he doesn't go after her is because he knows she is smarter than he is. Heck that describes 99% of the world.

He probable doesn't watch her show, he doesn't go after the late night hosts either (past his beddie by time) and they have been making jokes about him for months.

That would be the icing on the cake for Rachel Maddow to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

    5. So the answer is Murrow, yes, Peabody, yes and Pulitzer, no. Unless Maddow writes a book or composes a symphony.

I have been watching Morning Joe when I can because of their dominant Republican representation to hear their evaluation of Trump from their point of view. My favorite contributors are Eugene Robinson and Steve Schmidt.

Maddow has distinguished her self focused on detailed reporting which she excels at.

Agree with you 2:32 PM. I lean to the left, but want to see what the right is sawing too - so catch Morning Joe daily + Rachel Maddow and the O'Donnell show which airs after hers.

Love Joy Reid. Did you hear her yesterday giving an excellent summary of Trump & company's ridiculous positions on the Stormy Daniels situation? She gave a comprehensive and exquisite rundown/takedown without so much as taking a breath, just brilliant -- clearly knows her stuff. Rachel's still my fave, but Joy is right up there.

"Bailey wasn’t alone: Across the state, teachers are seeking public office in numbers unprecedented in modern Kentucky history, political observers say. By the end of January, as the battle over their pensions intensified, more than 25 teachers had filed to run for office, with most of them running as Democrats."

"The number of women running for the U.S. House of Representatives set a record Thursday, the vast majority of them Democrats motivated by angst over President Donald Trump and policies of the Republican-controlled Congress.

Their ranks will continue to grow, with candidate filing deadlines still to come in more than half the states.

In many places, women are running for congressional seats that have never had a female representative."

"There are four Democrats angling to unseat the two-term congresswoman, and none of them are obvious unicorns. Instead, they make up a remarkably representative cross-section of the Democratic Party’s class of 2018, which is defined by its abundance of rookie candidates, many of them women and/or minorities, who have decided to run for office in order to “resist” Trump’s agenda. There’s Katie Porter, 43, a Harvard-educated consumer protection attorney and law professor at the University of California, Irvine, who has worked with Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kamala Harris. There’s Dave Min, 42, another Harvard-educated UC-Irvine law professor and a former economic aide to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. There’s Brian Forde, 37, a former tech adviser in the Obama White House. And there’s Kia Hamadanchy, 32, the son of Iranian immigrants and a former adviser to Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown."

"When Democrats settle in on Nov. 6 to see if they can win back control of the House, one of the first contests they’ll be watching will be just outside Washington, D.C., in the northern Virginia suburbs.

Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock’s seat in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District will be a crucial indicator. The result will be reported earlier than results from states farther west, and so both parties will use it as a weathervane."

"In a suburban district that is trending Democratic, Comstock has positioned herself as a moderate with a focus on local issues such as transit, while Democrats will try to tie her to President Trump. The same dynamic will be playing out in similar districts around the country, including three in Orange County, California; the Sixth District in Colorado, in suburban Denver; and the Seventh District in Texas, in and around Houston. All of these are suburban districts growing in population and ethnic diversity, giving Democrats a chance to win them."

"Farenthold declared in December that he would not seek re-election in 2018 after reports emerged that he’d used taxpayer money to settle sexual harassment claims. A few of his GOP colleagues urged him to resign over the accusations, which Farenthold has repeatedly denied.

“While I planned on serving out the remainder of my term in Congress, I know in my heart it’s time for me to move along and look for new ways to serve,” he said in the statement.

In his video, flanked by an American flag and a Texas state flag, he added: “You know, I look forward to staying in touch with everyone. It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve. Thank you so much. Please, stay in touch. I love y’all. God bless you, God bless Texas, God bless America.”

Farenthold’s resignation took effect Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern time. He promptly deleted his Twitter and Facebook profiles. "

"Though both the March 18 and April 6 orders reference the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, signed by Trump in 2017, the cited authority for the one issued Friday about Russian oligarchs have nothing to do specifically with Russia."

The ignorance behind the false belief in, and desire for, certainty is behind, um, where does one even start?! Let's list the two most obvious things:

    1. Jesus dying for peoples sins.
    2. Jesus saving those who believe in him.
(both of the above propel our globe to destruction, as man's righteousness prevents him from seeing. Funny, that being Jesus' very message to man - to see within the man! to wake up within the man! to rise from the dead of ignorance within the man! But Paul closed the metaphor/message of Jesus into a literal idol, turning it into a linear 2-dimensional history lesson, and losing the transcendence and message, which continues to this day 2000yrs later, complete with nukes and walls and pussies and opiates and guns and FEAR OF "the other" which must be defended....)

    Grasping for certainty.
    Unaware of impermanence.

'... MSNBC is consistently the highest quality news that you can get via television.'

...as opposed to these ignorant couch-spouters, who only *now* are learning what the word 'oligarch' means! SMDH!!!

'“We were just saying, have you ever used the word oligarch before the last few months?” Earnhardt asked. “It is a ruler in an oligarchy—which doesn’t explain much—but a very rich business leader with a great deal of political influence.”...'Earhardt and “Fox and Friends” have largely ignored coverage of Russian meddling in the U.S. election. Earlier this year, she dismissed reports on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as “un-American” and wondered if viewers “even care” about Trump’s reported attempt to fire Mueller or the Russia probe in general.

Last year, Earhardt claimed the media’s interest in the Russia investigation is misplaced because “most people don’t even know where Russia is on the map.”'
