The boy "who came back from Heaven" files lawsuit, because he never got paid for that lie.

Courtesy of The Christian Post:

A young man who as a boy became the subject of a bestselling book claiming he had went to Heaven and met Jesus following a car accident while comatose is now suing book publisher Tyndale House for damages.

Alex Malarkey, now 20, was left as a quadriplegic following the 2004 accident, which was made famous in the 2010 bestseller The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven.

A lawsuit filed on Monday at DuPage County Circuit Court in Wheaton, Illinois, claims that Tyndale made millions from his account, which in 2015 Malarkey admitted was a total fabrication made up by his father, Kevin Malarkey, who has since passed away.

The suit explains that the father made up the story that Malarkey "had gone to Heaven, communicated with God the Father, Jesus, angels and the devil, and then returned," and that he had taken all the profits from the book.

Whenever I think about the innate gullibility of religious people this is one of the examples that springs to mind.

Once people convince themselves that the impossible is possible they are susceptible to any "evidence," no matter how flimsy, which seems to confirm their belief.

This is why televangelists have private planes, live in huge mansions, and wear Italian suits.

It is a cottage industry built around people's ignorance and need to embrace superstitious nonsense.

And in this day and age there is really no excuse for it.

Well, their last name being Malarkey explains a lot.

Could not help but notice the entirely descriptive last name of this family --- what a bunch of Malarkey.

  3. If his Father took all the money, why is he suing the publisher?

Seems Malarky is full of, uh, hokum? Hooey? Baloney?

Is this the Malarky Joe Biden was referring to?

Seriously. How is this the publisher's fault?

Maybe the checks were written out to the father and shouldn't have been? That's all I can think of.

Because any income from the book would disqualify the young man from government paid medical care.

A Tyndale representative meanwhile told The Washington Post that for years the publisher had been attempting to discuss the inaccuracies in the book with the family, but to no avail.

"On more than one occasion we asked for a meeting with Kevin, Beth, Alex and their agent to discuss and correct any inaccuracies, but Beth would not agree to such a meeting," the source argued.

Didn't Gary "what you talkin' about Willis" Coleman's father do the same thing? This isn't about religion as much as it is greed on the part of a parent that's supposed to protect their child.

Hhhmmm. Wasn't there someone who once said, Oh, what was it? Oh Yeah!

There's a sucker born every minute. Nowadays though it would be more accurate to say every second.

And what's truly embarrassing here, is that Hollywood done gone and made a movie of it, and actors sold their (well actors don't have souls) and participated in the movie and needy movie goers went to see this thing.

Hollywood will jump at anything if they can make a buck off it. I’m even sick of Ellen and used to love her.

Ahhh once again Gryphen chooses his soft target, white christians.

Why don't you ever talk down about... say black christians? Say... Reverend Al Sharpton, Reverand Jesse Jackson, or for that matter Reverend Marting Luther King? All bsptist ministers. Can't go there because they are black?

How about Islam Gryph... You know, the religion responsible for hijacking 4 planes, twin towers, pentagon... The religion that doesn't even allow women to show their own face in public in some countries, nor go out without a male family member....

How about Judaism, can't go after the Jews because too many are Democrats or something?

The hypocrisy in you runs so deep it goes all the way to China.

Yeah yea, already know your soap box response... "I've always said that all religions are equally blah blah blah..."

And yet all you ever derogatorily post about is white christians.

Why not mix it up a bit bud?

Because it was a set of white xtian parents that forced their sick child to lie to promote faerie tales. BTW most of your old testament was stolen from Tslamic lore and Egyptian lore. If you are a xtian you are a muslim you idiot.

Lol.... Uh not religious of any kind 1:08... but way to jump to conclusions! Just pointing out the obvious. Gryphen only slams white Christians, it is amusingly hypocritical, and no doubt he does it more out of political leanings than religious.

EOO, 1:51 PM, equal opportunity offender, but those who truly adhere to their “beliefs” are few and far between. You’re calling him out WHY? As a non-religious type yourself, seems to me that all you do is to stir the pot to boiling. Miserable way to go through life.

    6. There was a weird popup from BlogSpot the first time I posted this, so perhaps it didn't actually get posted. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Anonymous 9:11 AM wrote: And yet all you ever derogatorily post about is white christians.

You use of an unqualified "all" is a bit of a reach, but I don't care to spend my time digging out cases where he has posted derogatorily about other groups of people who aren't necessarily white and aren't necessarily christian. Over the decades I've got used to people people using words like "all" and "every" even when the facts only justify "most" or "many".

Anonymous 9:11 AM's comment is a textbook example of "Whataboutism":

The blogger NonStampCollector responded to a similar charge on 2016-02-23:
      http://www.nonstampcollector.com/blog/make-islam-videos
with the title, "MAKE ISLAM VIDEOS".

Here is the first paragraph of that article:

It amazes me how many people think that since I've made YouTube videos about the religion I was brought up in, which is dominant in my culture going back millenia, and which I threw myself into whole-heartedly as a teenager, and struggled with, and eventually came to face as having been a lie that I'd lived like a fucking dupe, that that means that I am OBLIGED now, given the size of my subscriber base, to make videos about a religion about which I know absolutely fuck all and have never ever had any experience of whatsoever. Islam.

This was just the beginning of his response. You should read it (link above) and his "info" page:

Hey Ted, instead of circling the city trying to give an answer for a question not asked, why not just face the simple reality?

But proof is in the pudding, you should go back and do a find every one of Gryph's digs on white Christians and digs on any other religious groups or people. It seems that Gryph just really goes after white Christians because a majority of them are likely Republican. He dares not offend other religious groups, because they might be highly Democrat. Just saying he should own up to the truth, is that so complicated or hard?

Sorry dude, I like your blog a lot, and because you keep it public, and kudos by the way for that, challenges happen. Just helping you stay honest.

You seem confused. My comment was not posted as a comment on the article, it was posted as a response to Anonymous 9:11 AM's comment. If you had been paying attention to the indent level you would have realized that … assuming that you actually understand the indent level convention. Perhaps you can get someone local to you to explain it for you. Your adding 18 or so blank lines to the end of your comment does suggest an unfamiliarity with the medium. I suggest to you that you continue concealing your identity until you've started to learn the ropes.

Fleecing the crazy is always easy. They give their hard earned dollars to a church that proclaims that god needs no house, yet they give and give to build bigger and bigger churches and grow bigger and bigger egos of their charlatan preachers and in the end no one goes to heaven (or hell) because it's all imaginary, go figure.

I can't understand it but my parents didn't allow me to be brainwashed. Feel a bit sorry for those that are but hey, there is help for that kind of shit, just like any other addiction.
