The world's first 3D-printed gun, called "the Liberator," was successfully fired in Texas this weekend, according to Fox News.
Defense Distributed, an Austin, Texas-based company led by 24-year-old law student Cody Wilson and several others that market 3D printed firearms and firearm components, or “Wiki Weapons,” on Thursday posted a new video online showing a plastic gun being fired. A blueprint file is expected to be available for download today.
"I recognize that this tool might be used to harm people," Wilson said, according to Fox News. "That’s what it is -- it’s a gun. But I don’t think that’s a reason to not put it out there. I think that liberty in the end is a better interest."

The liberty to do what exactly? Find a way to get your hands on weapons that cannot be traced by the government?
Exactly what type of person would fear the government knowing that they have weapons?
Certainly NOT somebody who should have those weapons, that much is clear.
You know the Tsarnaev brothers were able to terrorize an entire city with materials they learned how to make by surfing the internet. Just imagine how much more damage they could have caused if many of those bomb making components could have been printed off of a 3-D printer and assembled in their house along with assault weapons to fend off law enforcement?
As much as I love technology, and dislike government intrusion, I think this is definitely something that the government needs to take a long hard look at.
