Clinton helped FEMA become a lean mean rescue machine. He hired Jamie Lee Witt, Arkansas' respected former emergency management director, and elevated his job to a cabinet position. By all accounts FEMA did an outstanding job. Even when Oklahoma was bombed in 1995 FEMA was there providing relief immediately.
Bush put FEMA under the control of Homeland Security and hired his school chum Michael Brown, a man with no previous experience in disaster relief, to head the department. The results are painfully obvious. Then the administration hires their pals in Haliburten and IEM to do the job that the government did so well in the past.
There is no excuse! Cronyism and favoritism is no way to run a country!
These are real people who need the government to be there in their time of need! Explain to them how these changes have benefited them!
